I've been using 2-in-1 anti dandruff shampoo for a while now. It somewhat works, the dry skin around my chin isn't as bad as it used to be. What brand of oil should I get?

I just buy some cheap stuff that is unscented on Amazon... Leven Rose is the brand I think. It seems fine but I can't say it is especially better than any other brand.

So I've decided to grow my first beard after years of just getting to the itchy stage and giving up and shaving it off, I'm at the stage I need to trimmmy neckline though and I'm worried about screwing it up lol.
Is there any specific brand of oil that you guys recommend for it? Also how do you trim the wild rough hairs to tidy it up?

I use Premium Beardsmen Spirit Beard Oil Fragrance Free. Damn that's a long name. You can buy 4 oz for like $10 on Amazon. It's cheaper than the stuff I used to use but seems fine to me.
For cleaning up my beard, I go to a barber once every 6-8 weeks. Just be super specific about what you want so they don't take off too much.
What are you paying to have your beard trimmed by a barber? I went to a barber to trim it once but he charged me $35 and I felt like that was just too much, considering I need a trim every 2 weeks once my beard grows out fully.
Also, I started using basic vitamin e oil to combat the flaky skin and occasional itchiness I get on my chin. I aapply it as needed which is usually a couple of times a month. My cat doesn't love it (she loves to rub her face in my beard) but otherwise it works just fine and costs next to nothing.

I spent $35 for a haircut and beard from at a great barber in down-state IL. I'm in Chicago now and spent $55 for the same service. Beard only would be about $30 I believe. There are cheaper places I saw in my old town for about $15 for just beard trims.
Thanks for the info. Seems I just need to suck it up and pay the barber. Everytime I trim my beard with my trimmer I go from a comfortable length that's just looking a little mangey to a glorified 5 o'clock shadow, and that's with the guard set to 6!
This isn't really related to beards, but I think this might be the best thread to ask this: I'm considering shaving my body, and I think I'd rather use a body groomer instead of a manual razor.
Could someone maybe recommend me a groomer, or at least give me advice on what to look for? I'm not particularly hairy, so it doesn't have to be anything special.

Once it gets some length yeah.
Also don't use your regular shampoo on your new beard. It will dry your face out and lead to increased itchiness. Your scalp produces more oil that could be a factor.
It 100% will get better though. The only time I itch is when I let the base of my neck go for too long with shaving it and then that part itches
Oh and as you get some length you should use some oil and that helps things as well

Seriously, use beard oil. I got a rather itchy mess with quite some dandruff until I started using beard oil. Now both is gone. This stuff does wonders.

Also, I found that the purchase of a cheap nail brush helps too. Small, ultra easy to hold and firm enough to brush the loose hairs/dry skin/detritus/whatever from your mush fuzz. It's a bit massagy too, which is good.
I bought this one for a mere 50p in Wilkinsons...
I've tried all sorts, including beard specific shampoos and soaps and they ALL dry my beard out. In the end I went back to using my normal shampoo but greatly reducing the frequency that I wash it (obviously I wash it with water frequently).
Would love something that doesn't dry it out. I've tried so many, including things that people swear by, without success I'm starting to wonder if it's not down to the water in my house.
Also, definitely use beard oil people. Can't be said enough.
As for that brush... I'd suggest investing in a half decent brush with natural bristles if you can.

I recently bought this inexpensive boar's hair brush and it is very nice. Along with the beard oil that I use, it had made my very stiff beard softer.

I basically spray a few oil squirts on it every morning and brush up and down my beard. It keeps my hands clean and helps manage the shape really well. I love it!

Just about time for a cleanup of those wild hairs. Last time I was clean-shaven was end of August 2014.
Use my hair shampoo and conditioner both Pureology Hydrate every time I wash my hair (every other shower or day), and Brooklyn Grooming Red Hook beard oil after every shower which keeps it soft and makes it smell very nice in mine and my girl's opinion. When some of the hairs get wild I use a little bit of Baxter styling clay to help knock them down before trims. The grey is natural and had it since 29, i'm 33 now.
Please excuse the "punch me" expression.

Gaf, I just had a newborn a few weeks ago, beard might be shaved soon. Its constantly being pulled, and knotted up by his little hands. Any fathers out there got tricks to keep babies hands off the beard? I have been tucking it in my shirt when we are at home.

I originally shaved my beard for my newborn but in hindsight should have just shortened it instead. I'm growing it back and she's to grab at it (she's 6 months) but nothing I can't handle.
A little help here... so I had a pretty good beard going with about 3 - 4 months of growth. Larger than I've let it go in the past, but I started to feel comfortable in it. Anyways, it was starting to look a little unkempt and loose around the edges, so I decided to try cleaning it up a bit. I combed it out, and took a trimmer to the sides. Well I took a little too much off one side, so I tried matching up the other.... you probably know the rest of this story. Anyways I was forced to just shave clean and start anew.
I'm fine with starting over, but I wanna know how the hell I'm supposed to keep this thing in check as it starts to fill out again? A trimmer with a guard? A comb and a pair of scissors? Short of going to the barber, what are the best options and approaches here? I understanding trimming it down, but once you've achieved the desired length, how do you keep it there? I don't wanna make the same mistake next time around.

Best bet is to get a barber to clean it up the first time, then the trimming tool (trimmer/scissors) will depend on your beard length. A barber may take out more than you want the first time but it will at least be even and you can grow it out again.
Get a good barber. Mine has been incredible this past year. This was all her work in a year.

I quit my last job because this bullshit. They sent me home because my skin was darkening (i'm very pale) even though I had shaved that morning.

Sounds to me like they mean shave every morning. Fuck that shit, find a new job.
This isn't uncommon in America. A lot of jobs have policies that are basically: 1) shave every morning or 2) have a large, well-groomed beard.
Mainly, they don't allow the in-between stage of a beard where it just looks like you were lazy and didn't shave for a week. Obviously it varies and some jobs just straight up don't allow any facial hair, but those are just jobs that I wouldn't work at, I guess.

Mine was only half of your majestic mane when my kids were newborn, but out side of shaving it I'd say tame it back so it doesn't hurt as bad.
The solution I went with four years ago was to trim my beard down to an inch or so and let it grow back out. By the time it got long enough for my son to grab it again he had grown out of it and lost the infant death grip.

I grow facial hair slowly/thinly/etc. Got a bit of a baby-face thing going on, but not quite. But I'm also going bald (in my 20's. Fuck genetics). And I know people usually say to try and grow facial hair to offset that. The problem is this pic is 8ish days worth of "growth".
Should I even bother trying or just embrace the baby-face? If I do try how do I mentally deal with the fact I'll have a creepy looking pedo stache going on for a while there?

proper stache is mostly a myth
Look throughout history (especially 18th-20th century europe/us) and you'll see basically every type of stache type being represented in good fashion. Just keep it well trimmed and if it's a thinner type, compliment it with other facial hair like side burns or whatever to fill out the necessary depth you want on your face. The best way to make a stache work is by owning it. If you're not confident in having it, and not willing to put in the work to make it work for you, then it's just not going to work for you no matter what kind of growth you got going on your upper lip.
You need to give it at least a month if you're serious about growing, and as much as three (seriously, I don't feel like I have an actual beard for almost three months). Only way you're going to find out if it will grow into something you like is to actually let it grow.
Any half decent beard oil should do the trick, you don't have to go crazy with designer stuff.
Have you shaved your moustache in these images? Given pretty decent growth on the chin I'm surprised you've got virtually nothing on the lip (and this comes from someone who's 'tache takes some time to come in as well).

Yes its shaved, because it doesnt look good. This is about 2-3 weeks of growth and i shaved 2 days ago. on the chin its then this thick, but the stache, just a little fluff.same btw with the cheeks, while not as lousy as the stache, its still not much.
I guess i let it grow for a month or so and then see if it can all be a viable stache, because i really want to sport a full beard, at least to see how it looks
It's definitely worth persevering if you really want to grow one. I wish I could go back in time and show people what my face looks like after a few weeks compared to what it is now! The only alternative is going clean shaven again... and I don't think I could do that to myself as much as my wife might love it.
