Well 28 days to go for me, will hit 1 year mark for growing out my beard

Gonna show off pics when time arrives

November 1, 2011 - November 1, 2012

Best I can do, the sides of my face just don't want to sprout as much as I'd like. So I have to make up for it with the stache.

It actually works fine visually. And give the sides more time. I've read that some follicles are slow growers and show up long after you think they should. The beard board is full of great info.

Not shabby at all.

I have to remind myself that not everyone has fucking Kevin Kline density and that's ok. My sides take a bit to get full, and it's helll waiting. My stache and goatee are crazy full to begin with.

Man is some sort of Human-beard hybrid.

It's annoying because what hair does grow on the sides grows super fast, but there's way too much space between them, and seemingly non-existent potential for growth in the bare spots, not even a hint of stubble. So in waiting I'd end up with a gross tangle of long strands that are too far apart. Maybe I could try growing them out superlong and do a combover beard...

And yeah I get "IT'S VAN GOGH!" all the time, including here on neogaf a couple weeks ago. And they posted this pic, which is probably ever better. If my hair changes color like my beard did, and starts receding, and I chop my ear off, I'll be him.

I'm currently brainstorming strategies for wearing a beard that doesn't get in the way of holding an infant. I haven't tried braids just yet, but a variety of beard ponytails. Some look dumber than others, but being able to hold my son without him yanking on my beard or without my beard blanketing his face is a good thing.

Time for a beard bandana!

He keeps the beard, or course. Just hides it from the infant to avoid it pulling on his long luxurious locks.

Oh OK, then thumbs up

I thought it was to destroy it and use the fake PED (performance enhanced drawn, not drugged) Beard...

I use this, change the guards depending on how close I want it. Use a regular razor to keep the neck line intact. Basically keeps a permanent 5 o' clock shadow without much effort.

edit: probably should have mentioned I am currently in no shave November much to the dismay of my significant other.

Quoting for size. 4 months!

I'm dating a girl and I'm dying to kiss her but I worry that the beard's going to get in the way (Yes, I haven't kissed anybody in months, shutup), but I don't want to shave or trim! What do I do GAF? She seems to like the beard but I fear it's going to be a mess if I try to kiss her like this.

Trim it up Brah, keep it, just clean it up a little, make the smoochie access less hairy =D

Well you are months from kissing someone, I'm 32 years.. Yeah!

My beard is usually pretty good sized even in a week. No shave November makes it get really big.

Does anyone else get really itchy cheeks/jaws?

Try the summer ; ;

I went to a NYC GAF meet-up, after a few hours I was scratching like mad, even GAFFers went "you itchy?", I'm like "No Shit?"

Oh I haven't been 100% clean shaven since 2010 (though I trim and shave sides). I get the redness and itch and shit year round.

It would be a mess. Trim the moustache. Keep everything well-groomed.

Once you've been together for a while, try growing it back out. Work things out from there.

Wow, this thread's old :)

Alright GAF, since I'm still in RPJ mode, you can see how I looked a few days ago in my avy. Now, I trimmed that goatee since I wanted to try something new, the only problem being my face looking even more weird without it, I guess.

Anyhow, I trimmed it to almost non-existance and now I'm trying to let it grow together with the rest of my patchy-ass facial hair to try a few things with a bit more beard involved. Figured since I hit 33 I might as well go with it and age in style. Alrighty, just took a pic right at my PC desk, you probably can't see shit, but trust me when I say it's almost looking like this might turn into some moustached combination by now. Don't judge too hard, it's late, I'm tired and I just put the first pic I made online.

Okay GAF, should I go for a beard? If so, which one? And which Fedora should I buy to match it?

Alright, so let me keep this thread alive all by myself. 2 Days later.

I know I know, quality from hell, it's a dark apartment and I had to lighten it up a bit with some filters. Also, I might have to clean my mirror.

This might be a dumb question, but wearing a beard as it pertains to height. I'm 5'6". Will growing a beard make me look shorter, or is height a non-factor? I've become a beard believer.

Beard is a non-factor in terms of the perception of height. I'm 5'8" and it really only adds age to my appearance. Grow it.

I'm 5'5", little kid thought I was Haggrid from Harry Potter @ Best Buy

Was gonna post another pic, but there's not really a difference to the last one. Beard-growing diaries seem to be rather boring.

GAF post your hairy faces, dammit!

So is it normal that cheek hair grows patchy and slow as fuck? My mustache seems to catch up with my new wanna-be goatee alright, but those cheeks look kinda embarassing and feel like they didn't change at all for days.

Goddamn, shit didn't change a bit for a week now >.<
