Just launched. Looks insane.
I loved hereditary but hated midsommar.
I felt like watching the directors cut is the way to do it, just gives the movie A LOT of room to breathe.I will admit that the start of midsommar was insane. Gave me chills only to then go downhill just like 90% of all horror movies.
It looks a bit too fantasy\silly for my taste but the director deserve the benefit of the doubt.Same. This looks ok.

Go out and find some sad flower cunt to fuck if you like that turd so much
Yeah the beginning with the whole suicide\omicide was by far the best part of the movie (and some good gore here and there)I will admit that the start of midsommar was insane. Gave me chills only to then go downhill just like 90% of all horror movies.

"I loved hereditary" more like something what gives you nightmaresI loved hereditary but hated midsommar.
But phoenix is in so this is a must watch.
The trailer looked pretty stupid, not gonna lie, hopefully ereditary wasn't just a lucky fluke...

Explain please, what made it scary for you personally
The whole thing is unsettlingExplain please, what made it scary for you personally
I don't dream."I loved hereditary" more like something what gives you nightmares
Sure you do, you just don't remember your nightmares, but they get stored and come out all at once when you are a bit olderI don't dream.
Is that some hippie science?Sure you do, you just don't remember your nightmares, but they get stored and come out all at once when you are a bit older

I had a regular dream schedule when i was younger, and sometimes even those nightmares where you can't move.Shocking sure.
Because....
Seems like it. My dad's turning 70 and 99.5% of the time doesn't remember dreaming. Meanwhile i was born with night terrors that turned into nightmares that turned into moderate nightmare/space dreams. Multiple pee night.
About 30 minutes of extra footage, it's how I saw it. Would recommend but you can check out if the extra footage is worth a watch. Are there that many differences?
Shocking sure.
Im just jesting ofc. I did not find it scary, but it was creepy as hell.

But since i started killing my brain cells with ganja, i barely remember a dream every 6 months and it is always the same dream.
Midsommar was better than hereditary imo. The comedy was brilliant. Can’t wait for this
I mean I have a dark sense of humor, but much of the film once they get to the cult veers into absurd comedy. I’ve often felt that if you’re missing the comedy in Midsommar, you’re kinda missing a big part of the film. The opening is closer to straight horror, similar to hereditary - but then it goes into this hilarious shroom trip/break up movie, mixed in with horror and violence - Christian sleeping with that girl while all the naked women are chanting and pushing him into her was hystericalYou find hilarity in violence? Just asking. Many do.

Don’t get me wrong it’s dark and great at tonally sort of riding the balance between horror and dark comedy - I could totally see not finding any of it funny - like I found the end hilarious too with Christian sewed up in a bear and the guys being like “take this for the pain”and it not working at all - Dani with an absurd amount of flowers on her dress trying to move. I think it’s just a super fine line where it can be all thought of as totally horrific, but there’s this element of subtle comedy in the way it’s executed which elevated the film for me.Interesting!
The cult aspect was a great part inducing a sense of dread especially because it involved psycho active substances (a staple in pagan rituals if I can paint with a wide brush) that only enhanced the cults dissociation with the unknowing visitors.
All the manipulation enhanced with the mushrooms resulted in their ritual being carried out and when done was followed up with the ritual sacrifices; impregnating, chosing another "mother" (it's been a whike)
(Burning scene)
Funny how we see the same differently!
I have chronic insomnia and only sleep 4-5 hours per night, but i guess you can consider that small amount deep sleep or i would not be able to function. You're a deep sleeper? Out and awake and such? As in not a light sleeper walking up a lot during your night
Midsommar was hilarious for all the wrong reasons, yeah.Midsommar was better than hereditary imo. The comedy was brilliant. Can’t wait for this
I think Ari Aster rides a fine line between horror and comedy. Like with the mom in Hereditary swimming across the walls. A part of me wanted to laugh, but in the context, I still found it scary by putting myself in the son's shoes. And that scene you mention in Midsommar was horrifying to me but I can see why someone would react with laughter.I mean I have a dark sense of humor, but much of the film once they get to the cult veers into absurd comedy. But yea! Sign of a good film imo if you can talk about it like this and have these different interpretations

I'd really like to hear from him directly if it's an intentional balancing act that he's doing because I think there's something to it that makes his horror really effective

No, if i start the sleep phase i don't get up until i have to pii or poo in the early morning, and after that, there is no more sleep.I'm sorry to hear. You dont wake up regularly during those hours I presume (3 x of more)
It worked on me! Helped that it took me a second to notice her, so I was already off-guard, then she does something even more other-worldly right after.Funny. The wall creeping mother was the one thing that I disliked. It's obviously stems from "demons" crawling up walls or taking residence in top corners. The execution is to blame and in an go into detail but I coincides more or less with the deaths in Midsommar. It's to fast, blatant and in your face. That could and apparently indeed does invoke a WTF laugh out loud moment. It's to over the top and totally disconnects the subtle dread. Shame.

Then again, I'm a big 'fraidy cat, so I can see why it doesn't work on everyone
Ari Aster for me is like Tarantino, Scorsese, Aronofsky & Eggers where no matter what they put out I gotta watch day one.
And yes Midsommar was a pretentious piece of shit
