Ruby Rhod is a fucking gem, that list is garbage.

Yeah list is kinda off, but I love that Wesley Snipes gets two mentions haha. And your trippin if you think Falcon is terrible. Falcon is finally of the first black superheroes to NOT be named Black *Insert Name here.* What about Heimdall?????

It's a fucking joke to describe Stringer as a villain, much less a bad one. It's like they missed the entire fucking point of the show.

Ok, I'm not even going o comment on OP's list of fuckery. Great idea for a thread regardless.

My list of heroes is going to be a bit questionable though, seeing as some of these cats have had their bad days...

Heroes:

Blade
Django
Sheriff Bart
Black Dynamite
OG Bobby Johnson
Spawn
Fresh
Fool
Omar
John W. Creasy
Mike Lawrey
Marcus Bernett
Lee Everett
Commander Shepherd (Black female 'shep representin')
Undercover Brother
Nigga Turtles

Villains:

Lex Luthor
Stringer Bell
Avon
Snoop
Marlo
Brother Mouzone
Candy man
O-Dog
Dt. Alonzo Harris
Steven
Mr. Glass

Not even gonna bother with a best of the worst list. meh

OP's list is wack.

Didn't realize Elisa was half black.

Aqua-Lad from Young Justice is GOAT

No mention of Rhodey or Pootie Tang?

Pootie Tang is a great one.

Not a huge comic reader. All I have to go on is the movies and shows, but Rhodey was TERRIBLE in IM2. IM3 kind of pissed me off as a whole.

I guess I just don't like boring heroes.

They have to have a flaw or lose more than they win or go through hell.

Or be an antihero.

I find them kind of boring otherwise.

The Wire always dealt in grays, which is what made it so damn good. But come on.. Stringer Bell was a piece of shit at the end of the day. Period.

Still one of the all time great characters though. <3

How? We had multiple episodes dedicated to her siblings and parents. (For those who don't know she's also half Native American.)

Seriously. How?

So why don't you think he has a personality?

I didn't see every episode. I just caught it when it was on. Remember this was pre-Netflix and widespread DVRs.

My favourite hero is John Creasy.

Villain would be Antwon Mitchell. Dude was damn intimidating. Can't believe he was the fat kid from the transformers. "This is the little hoe, that gave up my block".

I don't get why you don't like Stringer. He's one of the most complex characters in the Wire, and definitely the best villain.

Marlo and Snoop are great, but they don't compare to Stringer IMO.

Dude has the best motivation of them all.

The fearsome Black Manta and Aquaman battled repeatedly over the next several years. During one of these clashes, it was revealed that Black Manta was actually black, whose stated objective at one point was for black people to be dominant in the ocean after having been oppressed for so long on dry land.

Not black, he is Aborigine.

I don't know.. his origins are a mystery. I also read that he is Filipino. The more I read into it...the more confusing it gets.

I originally though that Storm and black panther were his grandparents... and Gateway is his great grandfather...

it was listed however in marvel as African at one point...

Marvel doesn't prove nor deny anything about his heritage

Response to some of the choices in this list and simultaneously my nomination for villain:

Alonzo Harris, Training Day

That bloodline makes no sense.

Stringer Bell does not belong there, he's one of the best characters in The Wire.

He's well written and well acted.

Just his personality...

Fake.

Has a library of "classics" that have never been opened.

College educated but tries to flex on hoodrats.

Swims with the sharks and gets humiliated.

Not nearly the chessmaster he imagines himself to be.

Just rubs me the wrong way.

Maybe a little teeny tiny part of him reminds me too much of what I fear I am.

Just the little crumbs we got of Avon's* past/family and hints of how his life could have turned out differently was more interesting than Stringer. To me at least.

*And I could have put him or Ace or Mitch or Rico on the list, but I didn't want to list everyone. Let some other people give their opinions.

Yeah Bishop is a black dude with an epic shag to me. Anything else is just too contrived. His image says everything.

You put Green Lantern for no personality but Blade gets a free pass? if you were dull and had no personality you'd make a shitty green lantern since your ring runs off of your willpower and imagination.

And what, Storm, Static, Miles, and Cyborg mean nothing?

Also, I've never heard of Doro, but if he's a bodyless and formless demon, how do you know he's black?
