I was hoping we were going to see an uphill level of quality after ep2, but I guess not. Not a terrible episode, but very messy.

Currently dreading how they're going to handle Mozgus's facial animations. Don't see it working at all unless its traditionally animated. Rape horse might be the tip of the ice berg here people.
As meh as I think this show is the previews get me hype af every time. Entirely due to how good that Hirasawa song sounds.

They most likely just won't animate his face moving. The only two people I can think of that make multiple facial expressions are Farnese and Puck. Azan wasn't doing too badly either though.

Given how rushed this thing is pacing wise a person would have to read the manga itself just to get some context to some of these situations.

Poor Serpico is getting a pretty raw deal. They made the moment where he throws the piece of wood at Guts's leg before his capture really awkward to follow.
I'll give the benefit of the doubt and say that's because they completely fucked up the episode 3 edit and needed the extra time, and the part at the end wasn't originally planned to be hidden behind a wall of text. I can see them not wanting the credits to bleed into the Charlotte motion comic, and so that's the clumsy compromise we end up with.
At least there's a chance they'll fix it in the blu-ray.
Well, probably not offensive, but it didn't feel like it gave the scene it's proper attention. Hell, it even looked good, so why hide it.
I mean, it's probably the best animated snippet in the whole episode and a moment fans have been looking forward to. Not exactly smart move to have a bunch of text overlayed on it.

And it's not hate. Just criticism. The scene actually should be criticized because Guts turns around and Serpico immediately draws the sword. Simple setup showing he will take advantage of any situation (as we are shown later on) but still cementing how formidable Guts is. Here is just a random one on one duel (with text over it...).

I'm one of the very few that is enjoying the anime and even I felt that scene should had been done better. The credits rolling on just takes away the impact.
I might start reading it, actually, but it's gonna take time because there is so much stuff, and I plan to read it in Japanese, so it'll take even more time.

That credit scene is a clear depiction of the main problem with this series (besides gfx): it is made for people familiar with the source material. That explains why things like serpico and the king scene were relegated to their positions.

It's not though, it's actually quite good and I am enjoying it quite a bit.
They can't even make the main characters face look correct 3 episodes in, I don't think its far fetched or a stretch to say the anime has some serious issues. You can overlook them but people haven't been raining down on it for no reason especially when the source material is Berserk.

It's been a very enjoyable 3 eps so far and I am looking forward to the introduction of the new characters, I have no issue with the animation style they are going with or the story itself. This is an adaption of the manga not a 100% panel for panel copy of the source material.
It's more Berserk and that for me will always be a positive thing.

Would you also be happy with Berserk done with sock puppets?
The animation would be better.
Edit: Also if it were done in the vein of Thunderbolt Fantasy I think it would look fucking awesome.

I'd have to see an episode first and go from there. Not really a fan of puppet style stuff. If I didn't like it then I'd just move on, certainly wouldn't hang around the board moaning though.

I'm just sitting here thinking of a bleached sock wearing a silver woman's wig, goggly eyes and red lipstick as Griffith.
I mean, the original isn't a 100% panel copy of the source material either. it doesn't have particularly good animation but it has consistent art, amazing music, thoughtful pacing and editing and manages to nail the mood of the source material far better than this shit has thus far.

Music in the show is great, the mood that it sets easily conveys Guts struggles in a dim world especially with the dialogue that is used. I have no issues with the animation but I can see where people won't like some things about it. Even so it's a great series so far, I've been waiting ages to see some of this stuff animated and excited to see what is to come.
No it is not Berserk which is why many people are so angry. It's a clusterfuck Berserk which doesn't give the vibe that it wants to be Berserk. It feels like a parody sometimes (the sounds) and just looks bad.

finally watched the episode...man....that was just...not good. The only saving grace is that it's Berserk, otherwise this is just bad anime all around.
