"Rumbling of the Earth"
"Chaotic Dance"
"Supreme Ruler of the Nine Heavens"
"Dark Conviction"
You forgot Vitriolic A Stroke and The True Mirror guitar version.

and it's not a boss battle theme, but The True Mirror is a brilliant track. How Motoi sakuraba made such a great battle them with basically just a piano, violin, and a drumset, I'll never know.

1. Father and Son (Metal Gear Solid 2)
2. The Unsung War (Ace Combat 5)
3. IDOLA ~Have the Divine Blade (PSO Episode 2)
4. Dancing Mad (Final Fantasy VI)

Same with "Tomorrow of Promise" from Neorude 2, which I doubt anyone here has even heard of.

Wow. I had no idea anyone outside Japan actually played it! Wasn't this Tecnosoft's last released game?

I have a special place in my heart for the boss theme in Turtles in Time (all three versions).

The last boss themes in Mega Man X7 are incredible (and the only good part of the game).

Mayhaps I should do another mp3 post.

Final Fantasy 7. The regular boss theme, jenova and one winged angel are all fantastic.

I'd say most, if not all of the boss songs in Shadow Hearts Covenant were all really really good.

And while it's not boss music, the mini boss music in Wind Waker was fantastic

While I really loved that entire battle, the best part for me was probably when it shifts into the static (part two of the fight) and then shifts back between that and that hopeful-sounding music whenever Paula prays for help, while the static stays in the background.

God I loved Earthbound.

Yes, yes... RISE my friends! Let the Earthbound love rain down upon the planet for all to see.

Rez, Running Man boss, guitar changeover.

LUNAR series on Sega CD, various boss battle pieces. The final background music while ascending the Star Dragon Tower in the epilogue of Eternal Blue is also effective at conveying the escalating drama.

I have no idea. I just have the CD it's from, because the music is awesome. There's still three more "Technosoft Game Music" Collections after 12, so maybe not.

Fierce Battle - Final Fantasy 6 (Fight with Atma Weapon)
Dancing Mad - Final Fantasy 6 (Big long song when you fight Kefka and the 3 statues)
Battle with Magus - Chrono Trigger
Gathering Stars in the Night Sky - Xenogears (when Maria fights Achtzehn)
One Who Bates Fangs at god - Xenogears (Battle with Deus)
Awakening - Final Fantasy 11 (Fight with the Shadow Lord)
Thantos & Dyluk - Secret of Mana (Dark Lich battle near end. still creepiest game music i've ever heard)

Psycho Mantis - Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.
Phantom Ganon - Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Samus vs. Meta Ridley - Metroid Prime.
Chykka Larva - Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

There's so many, it's hard to pick just a few.

FFIV - all fight themese
FFVI - fight with Atma Weapon

LoZ:OoT - Ganon/Ganondorf fight themes
LoZ:WW - Ganondorf fight

Super Metroid - boss battle theme
Metroid Prime - vs Meta Ridley

Chrono Trigger - vs Magus, etc.
Chrono Cross - lots

Final Fantasy Tactics - Too many to name

Update when I think of more.

I loved the overly dark tones to the music that reflected Snake's shame in what was his duty versus his personal feelings. Especially when the photographers take pictures of him as a hero and the sadness can be heard in all its glory.

I totally agree with Mog on this one. The Unsung War was absolutely PERFECT for the final stage. I still replay that stage now and then just to hear the music

EARTHBOUND - Giygas Battle Theme (Battle of Final Destiny) - the composition, the transition, the feel of the contrast between the "oh this is a video gamey battle," to "wake the F*** up, this is one serious pile of sh*t you are battling, dumbass. PK BAT SMASH HIM IN THE ALIEN NUTS!" I havent run into game with a more convincing and awesome battle music, EVER.

ZELDA:OOT - Ganon Battle Theme - that epic feel, the camera angle, the weather, the chorus in the back, man, that exuded the epic nature that is zelda.

MGS:series - The quality of some varies, but overall the battle themes are memorable in feel and experience throughout the entire series.

Yeah, "Rock is Sponge" totally kicks ass. I also love when you're fighting the first boss and the real trancey final riff kicks in halfway through the fight.

My favorite boss themes would have to be:
-Prayer of the Arctic Circle (Secret of Mana)
-Hightension Wire (Seiken Densetsu 3)
-Sacrifice Part 3 (Seiken Densetsu 3)
-Fighting of the Spirit (Tales of Phantasia's final boss theme, and Symphonia's regular boss theme)
-the Shadow Hearts:Covenant second disk boss theme, with the ethnic chant in the background
-Still More Fighting (FF7)
-the Chrono Trigger final battle

and my favorite, the all time classic: FF5's battle with Gilgamesh - FF5 had my favorite soundtrack out of all the FF games for some reason.

The Running Man boss music was fantastic! I forgot all about that

I really need to hear One Winged Angel again. The last time I heard it was on the Advent Children trailer and it almost brought a tear to my eye. It's such an awesome piece of music

Yeah. Still gives me the chills. Cool, inventive boss stage too. And I guess if this thread isn't just about final boss themes, I give extra AC5 credit to "Dead Ahead" and partial credit for "Scimfaxi".

99% of Gitaroo Man also gets a mention by default.

Chrono Trigger - Boss Battle 2

Atelier Iris Eternal Mana - Deceitful Wings (can't wait to actually play the game!)

Tales of Symphonia - The End of a Thought (like el jacko, I love the way Sakuraba incorporated Kratos's theme into it...simply awesome)

Neorude 2 - Last Battle

War of Genesis 3 - Destruction
War of Genesis 3 - The Devil's Rhapsody

Oh, man, I wish they would bring WoG3 to the US. It's got absolutely fantastic music, and these are two excellent boss battle themes. I'd love to actually play it...

Donkey Kong Country - King K. Rool - Yeah, it's not typical battle music, but it's really cool.

Well, there's a good bassline in there too so I think you're narrowing it down a bit too much with your "basically". Also, the organ parts contributes as well IMO.

I totally forgot about the DKC2 K. Rool Boss battle theme.

Does anyone have a good mp3 of that. The one I have sounds muted down.

Got you all topped.
Contra3 the Alien Wars. When your climbing up the wall, fighting the flying dragon. That music just KICKS ALL FORMS OF ASS.

YES!

I just had to bump this one. The whole sequence at the end of Contra3 (right after you beat the Heart) is awesome.

There are wayyy to many to mention (can't even think of any)... or maybe Axelay!

I love game music. It's a deal breaker for me.

PSO Ep. 1, De Rol Le (cave boss) theme.

Vol Opt's, the mines boss, is also great (that's actually two tunes).

Space Channel 5: "Giant Evila" to "Blank TV: Ulala's Support Chant".
Whoa, my choices were stolen! Giant Evila and De Rol Le are my absolute favorites, it's too bad they're both INCREDIBLY short.

I'll add in SC5pt2's first boss battle with Kin Kon Kan. Your group tapdancing when you nail the commands is so awesome.

Any1 knows where I can find good remixes of Chrono Trigger's World revolution?

Probably ocremix.org, they have a shitload of remixes for Chrono Trigger

Two pages and no mention of Indalecio (Star Ocean 2)? You all make me sick.

Also, score one more for Giygas. Best bait-and-switch ever ;)
