Yes when the Customer Service Rep rings up the receipt it will show a Manager price adjusted the Fallout 3 for a PM. The only way you will get away with it, is if they don't care or isn't paying attention to it the details. From working at BBY before, I loved finding things like these- I do enjoy starting conflicts too though so..:lol
 
Update on how Best Buy handles "placeholders":

With Best Buy they do a "package discount" meaning that if you return 1 you generally have to return all of the items or they will adjust the price accordingly. Thus, if you return 1 game they would credit you $39.99+tax instead of the full $59.99. The system is not dumb and will realize this when you attempt to return.

(BTW I just quit Best Buy in April and dealt with the package stuff.)

EDIT: Gift receipts will not work as place holders because when they are scanned for return it brings up the whole order (i.e. the package discount) and will reflect the price as $39.99 not $59.99 for each game.

Best Buy is a lot smarter about B2G1 sales than TRU is, so the tricks with gift receipts and placeholders won't work.

The receipt will show the return value for each item, and it'll be 1/3rd of the total pre-tax price. Placeholders won't be worth the full value of the game, so it won't work for future purchases as even exchanges.

TRU does it as $60 / $60 / $0, BB will do it as $40 / $40 / $40.

Man, I better hit the store early on Sunday if I want Demon's Souls. Sounds like everyone wants it. Or maybe buy early, don't open it, return and rebuy on Sunday?
 
Ooooh. I think I'll be grabbing Forza Motorsport 3, Uncharted 2 (I'm bad and don't own it yet) and probably Tekken 6.

I want Borderlands, but I'm not really convinced it has legs amongst my friends.

I've been skeptic on getting Borderlands day 1 because I was waiting for the right deal to come by but after checking CAG and other sites and not finding a deal, I decided to buy it at GS for the bonus content.

Sad thing is, Borderlands' extra content apparently came pre-packed in a handful of copies, all of which ran out during the midnight launch(which I didnt get to since I work night shift)

Then a day after my friend and I got Borderlands, this deal shows up on the internet =/

One of my other friends really wants Borderlands but is on a limited budget so we could've gotten 3 copies and split the costs. Too late now.

Also, I already paid off Tekken 6 and Forza 3 on GS so I cant get those @ BB either. FML :lol

Nonononono.

That has been misread.

Sony has the authority to shut off the servers starting in April but they have to give a 30 day notice prior. It's not like a definite "they will be shut off on this date" at all.

Also the game is still perfectly fine solo, so just use the time that you know you have before April.
 
Dang it. I have forza 3 pre-ordered on amazon, and I just got Uncharted 2...

I've been meaning to get RE and Fallout though... but damn I am probably not going to want to play anything else once I get Forza 3. :lol
 
Somewhat off topic, but has anyone successfully exchanged one of their games from the TRU for a new game sale since the sale ended? I ended up picking up RE5 as my 3rd game, and would love to trade it for Tekken 6.
 
Was staring at the game rack last night trying to decide between Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls...will buy U2, Demon's Souls, and some random 3rd game that i'll peddle off on Craigslist now :D

It would have to get rung up at MSRP, the POS will allow two different deals going on but would require an authorization of a Manager and more than likely they will catch it.

So I bought 3 games last week and BB priced matched Toysrus's sale so each game was 39 bucks but I want to return one of the games for another theres no way they'll match the new game for the same price even during this sale?

If the sales were awful, then they wouldn't want to keep those servers running, but it seems to be doing well for how niche it is.

Also it's fantastic. Difficult if you're not prepared, but you learn and you persist and then you succeed!

Yeah I did this on Tuesday when I picked up Borderlands. No questions asked and I was in and out within 5 minutes.

Wish I could take advantage to grab Ratchet and Clank, Tekken 6, and one more game, but I can't think of anything else that I believe would actually be in stock by Tuesday (would love Uncharted 2, but that'll be one of the first to go...)
