Havent played a fun F1 game in years, you basically need a kick ass steering wheel to have fun with any of them these days, GP2 was the last fun keyboard racer

I can only contribute by saying I want an F1 game where you get to drive the formation lap. I think that effectively summarises the approach I'd like the game to take.

F1 '99-'02 for the PC. EA's last F1 game, and really is the best. Tons of mods and yes, you can even do the formation lap.

this man speaks the truth, was just gonna mention it too.
Nothing to touch the quality of this game, i remember playing this for the first time and was blown away. Best blend of arcade/sim in any F1 game.

Grand Prix 4 (PC) is the best. It gives you the best racing experience as the AI is just fantastic (best AI in a racing game), a damn shame the developer went under...
