Best graphics of any game?

Next gen is truly here

Nope. 60fps alone does not mean a game is technically superior. Even if it were released on ps3 or 360 it would still be competing with the likes of journey , gow3, uncharted 3 etc. Nothing about SMG2 implies it is technically superior. Its a great looking game though.

I wish I had the chance to clean up the image quality of the other games, too.

Pretty sure he's talking about a scenario where the wii was as powerfull as the ps3 and 360. And what nintendos games could have looked in such a scenario. Keeping in mind what they were able to do with games like SMG 1&2, and Zelda:SW on the shitty wii hardware.

The WiiU zelda demo might be a good indication of what might have been, had they gone with ps3 and 360 like hardware.

Sorry but ENB modded GTA 4 only looked good in screenshots to me. Actually playing the game with the mod never gave me consistent visuals/

Also to those hating on Witcher 2, have you even tried it maxed out on a PC? It looks glorious and is also my current pick for best graphics

Truth truth truth!

Those screenshots someone posted earlier were glorious, but completely misrepresentative of the game.

I'd have to say Modern Warfare 2. It doesn't have the high resolution assets that other games have, but the overall composition is fantastic, combines dynamic lighting with baked lighting, a killer frame rate which blows away other games in motion, and the best character designs.

Probably not a popular choice here, but I stand by it.

Doesn't look that great imo. Horrible skybox and it somehow feels really claustrophobic. Non existent shading too.

Those skyward sword pics are way more pleasing to the eyes.

I think Black Ops looks better.

I can't say if the skybox is like that because of the emulator or not, but the angles are claustrophobic because I manupulated them. The normal view is pretty far away most of the time.

Such a pretty game.
Eh... I'm replaying Skyward Sword, and the blurry paint filters don't do a good job of hiding how awful the texture work is. The environments look even worse in motion; though, the character animation is nice. Still, it's nothing special when compared to anything this gen.

I still think Wind Waker looks cleaner, but the texture work is pretty bad too, but it doesn't have the same watercolor filter than SS has to make it look muddy and gross.

When you say maxed out are you including ubersambling, because I want to meet the four people who can run it at a consistent framerate.

If I turn it off I can run just about everything else at max (at 1080p) with my GTX 670 and get a pretty high, stable framerate. The game generally looks amazing, but I occasionally get unpleasant draw-in/pop-in, and some of the lighting seems overdone (e.g., the reddish bloom from indoor torches looks kind of awful to me).

I still think the Crysis games (with mods) and Battlefield 3 are more impressive.

The fuck?

This came up the other day, but Wind Waker doesn't have the cohesive aesthetic SS does for me. It was suggested that was intentional, like a cartoon with cheap looking characters above a more detailed backdrop, but I think that's the case, because certain things do look more 'cartoony', such as the oceans.

Technologically, WW/TP/SS all look about on par I think, but SS is much nicer.

To each his own. I think WW is a lot more fun to look at, but that's not to say SS doesn't look pretty as well. Really, the thing that bothered me most about SS's graphics was the watercolor filter.

I think Black Ops looks better.

Black Op's animations break immersion for me, particularly watching the run cycles.

Also, their skin shaders feel off to me. I didn't respond to it well.

But I do appreciate Black Op's visuals esp. the lighting effects in the last level.

The Uncharted games, Rayman, RDR, Journey, God of War 3 to name a few.

Ah, Journey. One of the few games where I was really blown away by how it looked recently. Dat sand.

As far as Zelda I have to say I think WW looks much nicer. I kinda wish they kept to really blotchy paintlike textures because as it is, it's just a weird middle ground for me.

No ubersampling. That thing is just impossible to run without some serious hardware.

Yeah, BF 3 and Crysis are also obvious candidates but I just got tired of First Person Shooters. Can't wait for Crysis 3 though, seems like they're pushing it to next gen levels again

I never understood what was so impressive about Skyward Sword's graphics. At times, it looked almost like a hi-res N64 game. There are many more impressive games on PS2/GC/XBOX/Wii imo, on both a technical and artistic level.
