Best looking Wii U game out right now?

One of few ports where they made an effort to get it running as well as it possibly could.
The sad thing is, I remember the dev team stating it was super easy. Just a little extra work for a couple of guys. Result: PC assets of the game, curb stomping the PS360 versions.

And here we are, watching dogs running at 16fps on Wii U :(

ZombiU does look really atmospheric.

I mean, the models and textures aren't the best, and no AA either but it really has a great look. I love the darkness and the eerie feel. Really well done.[/QUOTE]

With such a post-process heavy look and this kind of color palette AA would probably be a waste, IQ wise the game is fine and a cheap PPAA solution (like FXAA) would probably hurt the IQ instead of improving it.

Back on topic 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Tropical Freeze & Bayonetta 2 all look amazing IMO, I can't choose one. :P

Need for Speed was the first game I played on the WiiU
Same for me too ;) Loved MW on the PC and although the WiiU version isn't as great graphically, it still looks damn fine on my Panasonic plasma. The additional functions such as removing traffic, day/night change when you like etc, make it the best version IMO. I just wish all the DLC was available :(

I have Tropical Freeze on order along with ZombiU and New Super Mario Bros WiiU so I hope all of these blow me away...gameplay wise I'm sure they will. Played the demo of Pikmin 3 - it looks (and plays) sublimely.

Holy shit, so many answers and I'm the first to mention Tropical Freeze?

Btw, I have MK8, Mario 3D world and Wind Waker HD. They all look great but what's wrong with you???

edit: oh, actually beaten by a couple of minutes

Tropical Freeze = GOAT at everything involving Wii U

Right...

Mario Kart 8 is easily one of the best-looking games on the market. I think people get too caught up on resolution and jaggies because they spend more time looking at screenshots than they do playing games. Jaggies stand out a lot more in static screenshots than they do when you're playing the game. Things like framerate, animation, lighting, depth-of-field effects, etc. cannot be fully appreciated by looking at a static screenshot.

Colors: Super Mario 3D World/Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Animation: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Effects: Mario Kart 8
Environments: Pikmin 3
Xenoblade Chronicles X, sorry Zelda
Artwork:
Splatoon - literally everything else on the console leans way too much on prior art to be particularly awe-inspiring

TWWHD, DKC:TF, Bayonetta, and others look nice, but I don't get the impression that I needed to buy a brand-new piece of hardware to get at that experience. They feel more like incremental leaps.

Oh right, they weren't that many either as I recall? Didn't Frozenbyte also say it was simple to really simple to get Trine 2 running on it? Then again, Trine 2 is GPU heavy as I recall.

Style over tech for me as a rule, so MK8 is currently winning for the gen, nevermind just WiiU.

NFS:MW is pretty damn impressive on both fronts for the console, mind you.

For me, it's probably Smash Bros or MK8, just like most people here. Although, Nintendo Land has always amazed me with how great it looks, and that's a launch game. I still can't figure out how they managed that. Anyways, I'm pretty sure the "best-looking-game" spot will be taken late next year by Zelda U. Just plain gorgeous.

It's between Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3. All lovely-looking games.

Smash is slick and smooth, but there's something a little too clean and sterile about it. There's more character in, say, MK8, and the lighting is better.
