I don't think the Wii U appeals to the average gamer these days and that's a damn shame. Those that want Nintendo style games seem to go for the 3DS while casual console games seem more interested in multiplayer shooters (which are not my thing).I still see it on a daily basis. I mean yes it has had some positive press. People still do not care though. The average "core" gamer will not pick up a Wii U. Seriously there are still people waiting for nintendo to drop gamepad and offer it for 99 when I just saw an add on black friday for x360 for like 130 with a game.
The thing that hurts the Wii U is that it basically plays host to Nintendo style games - which isn't enough for everyone. I do firmly believe that Nintendo's low cost, low power approach to the system has actively harmed it in the market place. If you could play great versions of third party games AND all of Nintendo's great software it would be the ultimate console right now.
It's the same stigma that stuck with PS3, though. Multiplatform releases were often poor on PS3 but, in the right hands, it could produce beautiful results. Same deal with Wii U.There's the stigma...and the hardware is great, in the proper hands. It's sleek and efficient as hell and when actually programmed by a team that gives a fuck, puts out some stunning visuals.
