Eh I don't mind them too much after seeing them in action.

I actually think the promo art and toys make them look like more of a mess than they actually are.
Is that an upside down triforce?

I see Dino Thunder is getting reps so I'll give an underated nod to the Go-Busters for trying somethign different

I love the Go-Busters suits! By far my favorite suits! Also my favorite season, so good. So many new things they tried. Loved it. A shame that not a some of our people liked it.

White Ranger/Kiba Ranger is a personal fave, always. Gold was also great.

It's mad how good the Dairanger suits (especially Blue) look! The pirate rangers also look cool (is the US or Japanese series any good though?). Ninninger suits also looked slick!

Not feeling the Kyuranger suits. Helmets look great, but the rest is a very 80's astronaut inspired.

Here are my all around top 10 favorite Ranger suits

This one is a little... unfair in a way, it's a Gokai variant to a past ranger costume.

BONUS: Givs me the lulz everytime

Some of this is childhood bias, I admit, but the Gaoranger/Wild Force costumes are pretty damned great. The gold trim looks great, while the sash design is both unique and gives a small visual clue as to the pecking order of the team. Plus you get the animal belt buckles, individual ranger sigils, and the oddly effective peculiarity of coloured boots but white gloves.

I'll always hold the MMPR costumes in high regard and they're my favorites, but I also like the Zeo ones just because they were the first new Power Rangers I saw in the toy store without knowing what was going on. Thought it ended with the original MMPR when I was a kid.

I also generally like purple on the suits.

Anyway, is Super Sentai the Japanese show that is currently airing as well? And Power Rangers is the Western version which is also airing?

I too love the armored variants from the 90s movie and that some of the suits had different variant powers/utilities.

Curveball: Which series had the best "preparation to transform/actual transformation sequence?"

Gobusters wins the title for doing something completely different. The leather suits instead of the typical spandex were awesome.

Gokaiger takes second place for having the best traditional design. The pirate theme was executed magnificently.

SPD is my third place. I really liked how they incorporated the numbers into the design.

Everyone has already hit most of the great ones so I want to throw in:

He isn't ''''technically'''' a Ranger but he's still a huge badass so it's fine. He had a Sword that turned into a gun! It was cool!

The zigzags work for me and it had yah boi MAGNA DEFENDER.

Since I never got into Power Rangers and to avoid thread shittery, can I assume y'all are INTO the cheesiness as part of the appeal?

The worst ones to me are the "robe" ones from the 90s. But I appreciate the Ultraman lycra ones in a weird way.

Yes. The cheesiness of the suits plays into the cheesiness of the whole show. It's a show based around people in suits beating up monsters and using giant robots, none of it is supposed to be serious.

I haven't been into this since I was a kid, but I can handle the cheese, I guess. What I really get put off with are the actual toy devices they use. I just wish they'd up the budget and have them look less like cheap kid's toys and more cool. But I suppose it's a lot easier to sell to kids if they're using actual toys instead of awesome looking props.

That is cool. How do I get an overview of all the Japanese was and American seasons? And is it even possible to obtain them all to watch?

I really want to get back into Power Rangers, especially with the new movie coming.

For a quick overview, there's a wiki dedicated to both series.

All of Power Rangers is on Netflix, and Shout! is release Super Sentai seasons on DVD in the west every year (although unfortunately they are only sticking to the ones that got adapted to Power Rangers). Fansubs have translated pretty much all the seasons however, so there's no difficulty in finding the shows.

Modern Power Rangers shows (the ones since 2011) have become very childish and obnoxious, so I wouldn't recommend those; but Power Rangers RPM is a pretty cool season that shows how different the series can get from MMPR. If you want to watch Super Sentai, Gokaiger is a no brainer, as it's a season that works on it's own while also introducing you to stories from past seasons.

I have a special place in my heart for Ninja Storm, I love those costumes, but I must admit that Super MegaForce (aka the pirate ones) are fucking ace!

The In Space costumes remind me of a balding man, lol

Yep. I loved the whole plot line around him as well

Watching the clips for the first time since my childhood is quite painful, actually. The cringe caused from the cheese is too much.
