Good GOD, 22.4 million???

That's insane! This isn't some kind of record?

What's TLOU2 at?
TLOU2 had a big launched number with ~4M copies sold but as we have seen in weekly sales chart across the globe in week 4, AC already outpacing TLOU2 in major market like Japan, UK, France, Germany, and etc.

Between 5-6M is a safe bet according to player numbers.

Edit: LOL at the votes, 57 people actually thought TLOU2 was going to outsell AC, that's crazy.

Nintendo's Switch software sales numbers are no fucking joke.

It's gonna be absolutely ridiculous seeing their numbers at the end of the generation.

Never doubted it for a moment, not only are Nintendo on top form right now, but the two games approach to their audiences made this a a shoe in for the big N.

TLOU2 decided to 'subvert expectations' and sprinkle in both misery and divisive, unpopular political messaging into a sequel for a game that was for a wider mainstream audience.

Nintendo meanwhile ramped up the welcoming warmth and cheerful escapism inherent to Animal Crossing, just at the time people most want to escape the lunacy and awfulness of reality.

One game has been out for, like, half a dozen months longer than the other, right? What dope are we supposed to be smokin?

Mario is a hilarious beast. He is in half of the top 10 selling games, and currently featured in the #1 spot.

What is the total tally for all Mario games combined? How many games has Mario sold??

I mean, it will still sell 15m+ copies. It's just that Sony exclusives generally don't sell as well as Nintendo exclusives.

Is animal crossing really this good?
I remember playing new leaf, but nothing really clicked, even If I love the sims and Co.

Should I give the series another chance?

It's not going to sell more than Spidey despite launched higher than Spidey.

TLOU2 leg is already lagging behind Spidey launch aligned.

But with PS5 version it could do that with heavy bundling like TLOU where ACNH sold over 22M at a full price which is insane feat even for multiplatform games.

The lockdown probably helped a lot with those numbers, but damn... 22 millions?
On a side note, out of all the people I know who own a Switch, I think half of them bought AC. I didn't, though, my backlog is already way too big.

It's a chill, feel-good game where you can express your creativity. I never played it for long by my gf's review is essentially "kinda boring but I somehow spent 80 hours playing it".

It's zero surprise that in a world going through one massive catastrofuck after another, people would prefer to lose themselves in a happy, feel good game, rather than thirty hours of morose death, pain and hate. TLOU2 was a good game, but I'd rather stick needles in my eyes than play it again any time soon. Animal Crossing is exactly the type of game that should do well in a fraught, unpleasant environment.

I would be very surprised. It's already shown It's not got the legs and lacks the immediately engaging emotional punch of the first game, nor has there been the universal praise and overwhelmingly positive audience reaction that game enjoyed.

Add to that the lack of need for a PS5 remaster given BC, and I honeslt expect it to struggle to hit 10m.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a monster of a game, but it deliberately chose to cater to a smaller audience than the first one did, so it's inevitably going to end up with far fewer sales.

Why that? Sonys exclusives always sell well.

Nintendo making close to 2 billion on something that took almost no money to develop is amazing.

To be fair just because you throw millions at development does not mean it will produce something worth playing, TLoU2 being a great example of this issue.
True, look at how Cyberpunk 2077. But that isn't what I meant at all. We've had great games made for less than 1 mil better that shit on all the "funded" games on kickstarter.

PS4 is an adult system and TLOU2 will no doubt be the best selling PS exclusive but a family friendly switch game especially in a time when many kids are confined to the house is going to be a monster in sales.
Its not the family friendly aspect, but how it appeals to women thats so striking, its hitting that market that the sims hit.

Don't worry, I'm sure TLOU2 will catch up eventually, people love that game and it has super woman legs that are stronger than any man legs.
