Vagrant Story

True dat.

"The fool used his wyvern..."

"Think of it! If we've witnessed miracles such as these on Leà
Monde's doorstep, what then lies within!?"

"Swine'll take wing 'fore the likes of us use magick, my friend."

"Aye, but with a Grimoire, your fattest sow could outfly my swiftest
falcon - if ye believe the chroniclers."

"Come Hardin, we fly!"

"So this is a Riskbreaker. Most men complacently accept "knowledge"
as "truth". They are sheep, ruled by fear. But you are different. Always
calm, detatched. A smooth flow of thought into action. Indeed...it is almost
as if...as if you had no soul.

How do you do it? Body and soul are one...Yet yours are separate,
like a child from the knight in his storybook. Where is your soul,
Riskbreaker? Is this VKP training? Or did you see something that made
you shut your soul away? Show me your soul..."

Metal Gear Solid series is great. 3 is my favorite story/experience. But I think as a script goes, it's a little too out there. Wouldn't work outside a videogame as well. MGS1's the most easily adaptable so I'd say that's among the best scripts. You'd have to change a bit if you wanted a movie but lot of things are well in place.

Conker rocks hard meanwhile. Seamless transition in story. It was like living out an awesome comedy. I'm really dissapointed they're not making a brand new story with Live and Reloaded. I wasnt another weird day with Conker.

I think my bid for best storyline goes to Shenmue I & II though. I still say MGS3's my favorite story for a videogame but as a script, Shenmue's fantastic. The story creates relationships between characters and with the viewer. And the plot moves along well. The pacing at times is the quietest subtle stuff to pure action climax. No other game's really even attempted it quite like Yu's done. As a whole, it's definetly the best script in the classic sense I'd say.

Shenmue... has the best... script?

<Ryo>Excuse me, did you see what happened.. on the day of the, incident?
<Random dude> No.

<Ryo> Do you know where I could get a tattoo?
<Little Old Lady> No.

<Ryo>Would you happen to know where I could... find some sailors?
<School Girl> They hang out in bars
<Ryo> I.... see.

Star Wars KOTOR and Jade Empire. Then again, these games have more dialogue in them than any other games I've played X 100.
