Alternatively you could use Nintendo's DS emulator on Wii U to play them.

Thanks for the post but we covered emulators earlier in the thread, they're a no go.

I still play my DS games on my DSi XL even though I own several 3DS revisions.

3DS is just uncomfortable to hold and to this date, the only handheld I ever bought a grip for. Yes, it's that uncomfortable. DS lite I once had, had terrible diagonals on the dpad so I can't in good faith recommend that. A friend I sold my DS lite to didn't seem to care though.

Yeah, it really can't be overstated how bad the diagonals are. I completely gave up trying to play the boktai games on it due to that.
