I'll give an more in depth reason to why later(at work), but I'd argue the original Xbox was just as great if not greater than the 360 generation.

As I currently rank them it's:

OG Xbox = Xbox 360
Series S/X
Xbox One

All have positives and negatives but overall, it's been a great 24, almost 25 year ride with them so far.

I am excited for the future.

OP included too few options.

There are many more Xboxes.

The OG for me, it just had an extremely large amount of games that were essential to my library, games that are still some of my all time faves today. I understand why people like the 360 era so much, but it didn't do a ton for me, personally.

I can completely understand the case you are making for the OG Xbox, OP, but I think the sheer long term impact and influence of the Xbox 360 – like we are still seeing modern consoles and platforms emulate the things it brought to the table to this day – is so undeniable that it has to take the win.

The fantastic library (again, winning on sheer volume over OG Xbox here, given it had more than double the lifespan) only bolsters that argument.

I could be wrong, but the exclusives on the tail end of 2nd half of the 360 lifestyle don't nearly compare to the early life of it.

OG Xbox's catalog of exclusives is pretty strong. I don't think 360 has a game like KOTOR 1 or Jade Empire

Main thing 360 has over any other Xbox console was shared online experiences. 1 vs. 100, Party Chat, Netflix Party, etc. we're all innovative for it's time and not sure it can even be replicated in gaming climate like we have in 2025.

Only two of them were good. The original Xbox was the most unique I think (even if it was the least unique of the consoles that generation, being much more PC-like). 360 had a good first half.

This one.

Never had an Xbox console until the X because fuck it, I already had everything else other gens and didn't feel Xbox was for me.

But I couldn't let myself out of a cheap Xbox Series X bought new from MS Store through cheap cards en January 21 ( cost me 380€ instead of 500€, which I sold two months ago for 450€ 😁😁😁) and years and years of GPU for pennies, the thought of fucking them up through subsidies and bestdeal while enjoying myself like fuck was too much mischief to pass.

Add to that the absolute ludicrous clusterfuck this gen has been for Xbox, I've never been happier with MS/Xbox than now. I'm literally laughing at all the memes and jokes people are throwing left and right.

I voted the original, with the benefit of hindsight I think it had more compelling exclusives. Stuff like Halo and Knights of the Old Republic are GOTG-tier games, 360 had a lot of good software but the RROD issues and shift to Kinect really soured things, you can see why the market shifted hard back to PS3.

The Xbox 360 had the best start, but halfway along the way Kinect happened and it never was the same. So Xbox OG, since it was a great machine from finish to start. And because of this:

I voted OG. It laid the groundwork for Xbl, arcade, and the big franchises.

360 xbl and the dashboard and all of that was also huge and arguably more directly influential, but the OG laid the groundwork for all of it.

My favorite thing ironically about the Xbox One was Kinect 2.0.

Not just for voice commands, but also it helped usher in and push forward video game streaming to another level. Overall a great device and addition to the already solid hardware that was the XB1.

The first by far. It was such an impressive piece of hardware that felt almost a generation ahead of the other consoles. Some of the games were legit jaw dropping and could not be done on the PS2 like Riddick, Doom and Half life 2. While the 360 generation started great, it became an embarrassment later on.

Easily the OG Xbox for me. Lots of excellent exclusives, any lots of ports that were better on Xbox than anywhere else (including PC in many cases, since PC ports were frequently pretty awful back then). The Xbox had the benefit of being a super, super overpowered piece of hardware that probably shouldn't have been made, but Microsoft was desperate to break into the market. You can go back to games on that system, and they still look good and run well, and obviously are still really fun.

The second best for me would be the 360, which has some great games, of course, but that hardware was absolutely godawful. Blurry, sub-HD visuals, awful frame rates, and PC development had improved to an extent where the console version of most games was typically laughably worse. This was also just a worse time for the industry creatively, so it's a pretty distant second for me.

The rest of the Xbox consoles might as well not even exist. They're just port boxes.

360 also had jaw dropping games at the time. og xbox only lasted 4 years which is disappointing, there is no way the og xbox is as good as the 360, not even close.

It's hard to fathom how hard they've stumbled since the 360. Such fond memories of that console. Can't say the same for anything that followed.

Greatest console ever made. More value in that 400 dollar box and annual $50 for live. Long live the 360 and that leadership team. Unmatched.

I'm not an Xbox gamer but I have a lot of empathy for Xbox users and I appreciate success and periods of strength in gaming history. Absolutely the 360. Halo was in a good place. Gears was in a good place. The best version of Ninja Gaiden 2. Banjo Nuts and Bolts (for the open-minded and objective it's arguably one of Rare's best games). Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, etc. The original Xbox and the 360 were a fun time. I don't blame anyone for pressing on with the One and Series. I just feel bad for Xbox only fans, they miss out on some nice exclusives and/or have to wait 2+years for some games to reach the Xbox. The brand/parent company is damaged and Xbox fans have to sit and listen to how Xbox is losing to Playstation and listen to everyone point out what Xbox management is doing wrong all of the time. Xbox bros, you deserved better.
