Betrayer announced — hands on with new FPS from the creators of F.E.A.R. and No One..

"The surreal look of Betrayer also melds with its low emphasis on instruction."

No hand holding? Well color me interested.

God, finally the talent from Monilith left to do their own stuff instead of being Warner Bros C-team. Really hyped about it as well as anything else they will do.

At it's height Monolith was the best FPS developer around. Better than Valve, iD, Raven or Bungie.

Well, they are trying something different, but I don't think I'll buy B&W FPS. Sorry, call it prejudice.

Also, I want another like NOLF, not another undead/zombies/horror FPS :\

Feel like I'm not seeing the enemies that well in those gifs. The art style is a bit distracting.

At least these guys are making another FPS though.

I think it looks pretty beautiful even if the animations could use some work.

Also, this and Dragon's Crown are pretty good examples of why devs don't try bold art styles that often. The more stylized it is, the more people are turned off by it just due to personal taste. Kind of sad really but generic art styles are the best way to ensure the least amount of people dismiss your game before even playing it.

EDIT:
Also is it just my player or is the Youtube video compressed really badly?

The devs are good and have made quality games before

This art style however is terrible, having enemies almost totally blend in with the environment and making them really hard to see or focus on is a bad idea. Could hardly make out anything in the trailer

Can't handle the black and white. It is just too distracting. If it were just some temporary effect that happened every now and then it would be fine, but as an overall art style for the entire game? Just not feeling it.

Whoa, somebody liked MadWorld.

But yeah, FEAR remains my favorite shooter ever, and I love old Monolith just in general. So I'm excited.

August? This month?

Man there are already so many games coming out!!! Why couldn't this come out during the summer drought!

Still, looks great!

Personally love the art style itself but it seems to already have failed on a very base level. From what I see, all the enemies are "glowing" red, at least the ones shown in this trailer. This was clearly done to separate them from the background. So from that perspective, they have indeed already failed IMHO.

Perhaps i am wrong, and there is a reason besides being able to see them that all of the enemies have a red mist coming off of them.

Looks kind of terrible but at the same time I can see how it will work for the game/gameplay style. Should be interesting.

You'd think something by the creators of NOLF would rocket to the top of my most-anticipated list, but the trailer for this leaves me surprisingly uninterested.

Bring back NOLF I say.

I loved NOLF because it was funny and lighthearted, and was hugely disappointed that the team behind it turned their backs and spent the following decade on the utterly boring and humourless FEAR series. This isn't changing my mind. It at least looks more creative than FEAR, but looks just as tiringly serious.

Yep, my thoughts exactly.
