Two year launch lineup is a painful cringey leap. That's not launch, that's just a console is out.

You probably would call a shelter pet a rescue dog forever, guess what after you "rescue" it it's just your dog.

Launch lineup would make more sense, but you're just trying to push an answer.

You remind people of your rescue forever, because #AdoptDontShop

Reminder, everything on the PS5 list except TLOU Part 1 was originally supposed to be out by the end of 2021. What's listed there is the extended, pandemic delayed list.

you forgot MLB 22 and misspelled ascension

And Death Stranding Director's Cut has enough new stuff in it, I'd count that too.

Even if you want to be pedantic about it, there is only really Bloodborne, Driveclub and Infamous on PS4 that I'd call quality games, compared to Demon's Souls Returnal, R&C and TLOU. So in reality, it's still PS5 in my opinion.

Didn't have ps4 in first two years.
Got ps5 on launch day. Sold it a couple of days ago. I'd say it's fairly close based on the list above.

PS4 on left, closest comparisons:

Playroom < Astro
Killzone < Returnal
Knack < Ratchet
Infamous - ?
Driveclub > Destruction AS
Until Dawn - ?
The Order < TLOU1
Bloodborne
> DeS (not in terms of tech though, even at the time)

Those are my opinions of course, but yeah, I would say that the PS5 has significantly better exclusives in 4 out of 6 comparable cases. If you count the two extra PS4 exclusives as wins for the PS4, I guess the final score would be 4-4.

But then you have to consider that Returnal is better than everything in both lists combined. Ok, maybe that's going a tad far as several of the other games are great too, but it's by far the best of all of them. In my very humble opinion, of course.

Those are my opinions of course, but yeah, I would say that the PS5 has significantly better exclusives in 4 out of 6 comparable cases. The PS4 had a few more, but eh. You could also switch The Order and Infamous, and TLOU1 is still the better game.

Plus, Returnal is better than everything in both lists combined. Ok, maybe that's going a tad far as several of the other games are great too, but it's by far the best of all of them. In my very humble opinion, of course.
I wouldnt compare BB and The Order with remakes that were basically asset upgrades. If they were full on remakes like RE2 then maybe, but both DS and TLOU are essentially running the same code under the hood with the same dated game design.

Astro is better than Playroom, Returnal is better than KZ and Ratchet is better than Knack. But they literally have nothing to replace Infamous, Until Dawn, DriveClub, The Order and Bloodborne. Not all games were great, but they were great visual next gen showpieces. So far its only been Ratchet and maybe Demon Souls.

Yes, if we completely ignore the fact that Horizon forbidden west, GT7 and God of war ragnarok are probably the best looking games on the market. You're just moving goalpost.

Those games are better looking and better playing than The Order, Driveclub, and Infamous. Even for their time, all those games you mentioned are commercial and/or critical flops, you are only propping them up because of an arbitrary 'next gen' title.

Horizon and God of War look better than the actual next gen games we've got

You can't just ignore cross-gen games if you can play them on PS5 in the first 2 years. GT7 and HFW are two of my favourite PS5 games.

Ok, but are the games you've excluded from the PS5 list worse because they're also on PS4? Maybe they could be even better if they were PS5 only, but that's still by far the best way to play those games. Miles Morales looks awesome on PS5 with RT, HFW seems rather compromised on PS4, etc.

Gotta say it's a PS5 win, even tho there was Bloodborne the GOTG, but that was the only oustanding game, even tho i liked TO 1886 but it was too light. Until Dawn was great game as well. For the rest wasn't a big fan of most PS4 2013/2014 exclusives tbh.

For PS5 in other hand: DmS remake, GT7: to me it's such a huge deal that a brand new GT is availble right at start of the generation, Returnal is very very good, even Astro was hella fun even if i'm not a very plateformer usually. Also GG Strive you for got to put in the list OP, awesome fighting. Ratchet was fun, and MM too. GOWR is gonna be insane for sure.

Of course how could i forgot Destruction All-Stars the ultra masterpiece ......... No just kidding, that thing was utter trash...

So yeah PS5 wins overall for now.

Nah. They all look last gen as fuck. We have discussed this before. You just have low standards. Not my fault.

I dont even know why the fuck you are including PS4 games in a list for PS5 games in a PS4 vs PS5 comparison. They are literally PS4 games.

Good shout with GG Strive - it's a superb fighting game.

If I put GG i gotta put a bunch of other 3rd party games, and GG is being ported anyway.

What does current gen look like, Gotham Knights?

Haven't played a current gen game yet that looks much better than Horizon Forbidden West, and I'll reserve my judgement for God of War as i haven't got it on my big beautiful OLED yet but i assume the same will appply

Or are they PS5 games downgraded to also work on PS4? I think in some cases it's one and in other cases the other. Not saying they wouldn't be even better if they were PS5 only though (I desperately want cross-gen to end), but yeah.

They shouldnt count in a topic that compares PS4 games to PS5 games. By definition, they arent PS5 games because they are also on PS4.

And I went out of my way to include not one but TWO PS3 games on that list of PS5 games just because they were released as PS5 only titles. I am just saying that I would not compare BB to Demon Souls because BB was a brand new game with a new combat system, new world, new bosses and new mechanics. DS remake didnt even add the plunging attack to keep everything same as original, and we all know TLOU Part 1 got the same treatment to stay true to their original vision. They are PS3 games that shouldnt even be compared to PS4 games. And I say this as someone who hates The Order more than any game last gen. Save for maybe Ryse. In terms of effort, a full game, even 2-5 hour game like the order should not be compared to asset flips like DS and TLOU.

For the PS5 you can add:

Spider-Man Remastered
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
Death Stranding Director's Cut

Ps5 and its not really close. Demons souls, GOW, HFW, Returnal, GT7, SM MM, ratchet and clank, TLOU. This is probably the best 2 year start that i can remember. I have been playing since NES for reference.

The OP gets to select the types of games deemed worthy for this thread.

You're looking at this all wrong. We're comparing games we could play in the first 2 years on PS4, to the games available to play on PS5 in the first 2 years.
