Beverly Hills Cop (4): Axel F. first teaser (Netflix)

Didn't they film like an entire TV movie that involved Axel's son, but Eddie Murphy still appeared in it, and it was so bad that they shelved it?

Lethal Finale directed by Mel Gibson straight to Max is supposed to be happening still.
Written by Richard Donner and they were going to film it in 2021 but then Donner died.

It's apparently them dealing with Butters' kid who's now grown up and a cop.

I'm on the fence if I should watch BHC 1&2 first and potentially ruin this flick by having a fresh comparison or just watch it and then go back and relive Eddie's glory days.

Idk, I haven't liked any of Eddie's movies since he returned to acting. Coming 2 America in particular was just awful.

I heard that the Dolemite movie was decent but I tried watching it and couldn't get into it because he didn't even TRY to sound like Rudy Ray Moore.

Dolemite is a banger.

I get you, but in the end it wouldn’t have worked doing an entire movie mimicking someone else’s voice.

It looks like a lot of nostalgia bait, but it also looks good enough to give a watch. I'm excited to see how it turns out. Murphy really dipping into that fountain of youth lol

Not a single joke in that trailer.
Did they forget that Beverly Hills Cop is supposed to be a comedy?
Either they are saving all the jokes for the movie, or it's so baren, they can't use anything.
It's not supposed to be a comedy?

So I just fired up BHC in prep for BHC4 and GODDAMN if the first 5 minutes doesn't have a car chase with more REAL CAR DESTRUCTION, thrills, excitement, and "how the hell did they film this on a real world street?" action than damn near ANY film in the past 15 years.

And WOW, everyone is so thin :p

Damn, this film is a treasure. I had forgotten how economical older films tend to be. In one conversation between Axel and his criminal friend Mikey we get enough backstory of Axel's troubled youth, the depth of their friendship and why Axel avenges him, Mikey as a reckless character, and the entire set up. for the film. We don't need 5 flashbacks and 7 long dialogue scenes when every word counts.

And the soundtrack........wow. S tier.

And that MOST 80's staple, the totally random scene in a strip club :p

I'm pretty sure there is a strip club scene in EVERY SINGLE 80's cop action film. Maybe Die Hard was the exception? Did Lethal Weapon have one?

I think it has been 20 years since I've seen a strip club scene in a film...it's like coming home to watch one now :p

Did they actually show boobs? That's incredibly rare for a Netflix joint.

Love the old movies, but have zero hopes for this. It’s coming to America all over again. Was really looking forward to coming 2 America and that movie was just such a disappointment…

Just saw it. it came out yesterday.

Good action beats and good dialogue, IMO. Axel is a dad! Brought back characters and intro'd new ones pretty well. His daughter is hot! The real estate agent is too ... Just older. Nice side profile, if you get my drift (she's packing back there).

Not as good as the first but just below the second.

Yep! WAY better IMO. For whatever that's worth.
Still not sure if you think its good or not. Way better than 3 could be still pony.

Going in myself wish me luck.

Edit: 5 mins in at least it has room to improve.

Edit 2 : Nope Billy looks like he's had a stroke, this is as bad as youd expect. Its going off.

I enjoyed it. I thought it was very good.

Billy is in his 70s. So is Taggart. Axel is in his 60s. But Eddie has kept in shape for age. Keep going.
