Really good album. I think Sandcastles is the only blip on it for me - beautiful lyrics and vocal performance, but a piano ballad just doesn't do it for me with the rest of the music surrounding it.

Think my top 3 are Don't Hurt Yourself, 6 Inch, and Freedom.

Time to give out new L tags for this thread. Tidal the new black.

That's an article from 2014.

Let's imagine for a moment that you never made a name for yourself
Or mastered wealth, they had you labeled as a king
Never made it out the cage, still out there movin' in them streets
Never had the baddest woman in the game up in your sheets
Would they be down to ride?
No, they used to hide from you, lie to you
But y'all know we were made for each other
So I find you and hold you down
Me sing se

There's really not any way to read stuff like this as anything but about Jay.

Died and came back just to say this:

BITCH you did it again

is this a visual album or an audio divorce filing

good lord, beyonce is dragging jay z for absolute filth

Is there any way to watch the damn film outside of the US? I can't get on the HBO site from the UK, even with a proxy it wont let me sign up for a free trial without the app which I can't get.

To portray your album release as such a big event but limit it to USA only is bullshit imo.

I used Bluestacks to sign up for the trial using the android app, and then just watched it on the HBO Now site.

Guess we now know what this was all about.

Who the fuck do you think I am?
You ain’t married to no average bitch, boy,
You can watch my fat ass twist, boy, as I bounce to the next dick boy,
And keep your money, I got my own,
Get a bigger smile on my face, being alone

I think the video version of this is a more interesting listen than the standard album tbh. I wish the excerpts, monologues, and ambient connective tissue was a part of the package. Give me a big 70 minute arthouse cut of this album pls

I could only see the audio tracks on Tidal but after signing in I apparently still have my free trial from signing up for TLOP, so I'm watching it on there now

only halfway through, but agreed.

I just finished watching and then listening to the album mix. This is some truly good music. I was worried about how she would evolve musically after Beyonce, but Lemonade did not disappoint. This album shows a maturation musically and as an artist that I greatly appreciate. However I am not sure how many of her fans will be able to make the leap.

I'm really feeling FREEDOM, HOLD UP, DON'T HURT YOURSELF, 6 INCH. I thought that SANDCASTLES was a bit abrupt in the movie but in the album it flows much better.

Lemonade is about Beyoncé reflecting on womanhood and the women in her family - partly the way men have treated them. Beyoncé has hinted at having been cheated on several times in her music, I am almost positive Jay has at some point. This was her letting loose and getting as much energy as she could from those frustrations. You can hear how angry she is at the men in her life. But you can also hear her learning from these incidents and not dwelling on them: she's growing from them. As cliched as it is, it's about her personal journey of making lemonade out of some of the lemons life has thrown at her, comparing those events of the women around her, and rising above.

It's kinda a beautiful album, I think.

Why would you get James Blake on your album and have him sing of all things

Although Pray You Catch Me sounds a bit like he might have contributed to the production

That's a good post, and I agree.
When life gives you lemons, you make LEMONADE

Beyoncé is so constant in delivering quality. I hope she continues with the audiovisual experiences. It's so good.

Great breakdown. It was her grandmother who made "lemonade" cue the visual album.

100% agree. This is the first thing I watched it. Everything made sense and it was absolutely just wow... Especially from an artist like Beyoncé.

Just got round to watching/listening to this. Wasn't really that fussed about it, possibly because I listened to Impossible Princess before it.

I still don't get it.

Can someone draw it for me, please?
The lyrics of the song Sorry
Looking at my watch, he shoulda been home
Today I regret the night I put that ring on
He always got them fucking excuses
I pray to the Lord you reveal what his truth is
I left a note in the hallway
By the time you read it, I'll be far away
I'm far away
But I ain't fucking with nobody
Let's have a toast to the good life
Suicide before you see this tear fall down my eyes
Me and my baby, we gon' be alright
We gon' live a good life
Big homie better grow up
Me and my whoadies 'bout to stroll up
I see them boppers in the corner
They sneaking out the back door
He only want me when I'm not there
He better call Becky with the good hair
He better call Becky with the good hair

I still don't get it.

Basically it seems that Rachel is the 'Becky with the good hair' Beyonce was referring to based on the caption. It had been reported before that the Elevator Incident with Jay and Solange happened because she thought he was too close to this Rachel so...yeah.
