Biggest/Craziest/Most Important Sports event you've been to?

I've been to a bunch of hockey playoff games, the most important being Game 3 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Finals. I was sitting right above the the corner of the ice where this happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpBXdefDulU

That was one of the coolest things I've seen at a sporting event. The crowd was going NUTS.

The following year, I went to this game behind enemy lines:

I was there when this happened, the first time:

Don't remember the actual game at all, but the pre-game ceremony was pretty awesome. I had really good seats in section A.

I was there when Michael Jordan hit the shot over Bryon Russel to win the Finals. It gutted me as a Jazz fan, but I'm happy to have witnessed it in person.
Fellow Jazz fan here man. Those Jazz teams were the reason I started watching the NbA. Stockton to Malone!

The winning Parade for the French Football Team after winning the World Cup at home in '98. Wasn't the game itself, but it's still a great memory.

Stanley Cup Game 7, June 9th, 2001 Denver, CO.

2002 World Cup in Korea.

Went to the 96 Olympics (a.k.a the last Olympics America is ever gonna get) as a kid. Saw two baseball games and two womens basketball games. The only thing I remember was the japanese women's basketball team chucking an absurd amount of threes, a stupid amount of traffic, and tons of mysterious foreigners invading suburban apartment communities.

Nothing too exciting. I live in Virginia and we have no top level pro teams.

The one Redskins game I've ever been to, in 1992 when I was nine years old probably ranks the highest. They lost a close game to the Raiders. I just remember the stadium seeming so huge, then again I was nine.

My favorite part was the street vendors yelling "FUCK THE RAIDERS!" to hock these shirts with a Raiders helmet printed underneath the word "FUCK" written in university style blocky lettering. Classy! I wanted to buy one.

Seeing the AAA baseball Richmond Braves win their league's title back in 2008 was neat. I say "neat" because I wasn't as excited as I felt I should have been. I felt happy for the players more than anything.

Went to a '93 World Series game, Phils lost (the game and the series).

But the biggest/best was when I saw the Phillies win the World Series in 2008. Grown men crying, hugging, dancing. It was amazing.

Weird part was game 5 was suspended in the middle of the sixth, and I didn't have a ticket that night. But I got one from someone who couldn't go when they resumed play in the bottom of the sixth two nights later.

Then, with thousands of other people I walked from Citizens Bank Park up Broad Street to Center City (about 3 miles). It was all still friendly and fun downtown while I was still there, but I left when I started to sense that a riot was about to break out. Not the worst sports riot in the world, but cars flipped, windows broken, etc. by idiots.

Next big one will be when the Birds win the Super Bowl this season.

Nothing memorable :(
Been to tons of Football, Baseball and MLS games but no history making events ever took place.

This summer might mark my first once in a lifetime game experience.

I know most people, well a good majority of American sports fans as well as Euro ones who see high quality play alot, dont find this as exciting. But I'm a huge fan of soccer but have a "disconnect" with teams 5000miles away. So to me, as a die hard MLS fan, my local MLS team and city hosting the MLS All-Star game is epic.
My seats are basically my season ticket seats directly behind the goal, so its gonna be incredible to me :)

Edit: Also will be seeing my team play Schalke next week, Aston Villa this summer. Saw Everton last year, skipped when Philly played Real Madrid...to expensive and...I hate RM :)

Edit: Also forgot...had a kinda cool experience, well epic for my kid last year that is.
He's one the kids who escorted Everton and Philly on to the pitch last year.

Number 62 from Big Mac. In retrospect, its hard to believe we were duped when the evidence was overwhelming. But man, that day, Busch Stadium was literally shaking.

Not really "sports", but WrestleMania 17. The atmosphere, the TLC match, Stone Cold turning heel, shocking 70,000 plus. What a great night.

Cardinals winning game 6 of the 2011 WS. I don't think I'll ever witness a better sports even than that.

At the beginning of my senior year of high school, I was at the Oakland A's record 20th consecutive win in 2002, immortalized in Moneyball. I have never heard the Coliseum get as loud as it did when Hatteberg hit the walk off, in all the A's and Raiders games I attended growing up. My buddy and I jumped up and down like school girls at a Beiber concert.

Wait, can we count wrestling?

About 2 years ago WWE screwed me on tickets.
They made up for it with some GREAT seats on Valentines day, fee seat 1 row 1...Monday night Raw right next to the ramp and stage :)

I've never been to a major "important" sporting event but the 2 most exciting I've been to:

1) UNC-A vs. Syracuse at this year's NCAA Tournament. Absolutely the most excited crowd I've ever experienced.
2) The final Pittsburgh Penguins regular seasongame at the Mellon Arena

Game 4 and 5 of the 2001 World Series Yanks down by 2 going into the 9th, scored to send game into extra inning eventually winning on a walk off HR.

I've seen my team (Liverpool FC) win the league title on several occasions and I've also been to a few FA Cup Finals/semi finals.
I also went to the 1985 European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus,... one of the worst days ever.

Was at this.
To me its always more then a game when the great Euro teams come over. The games dont mean anything but as a fan of the sport me and my son seeing these guys here in the states is a once in a lifetime chance.
They destroyed us but it was great too see lol.
I always seem to find great seats for me and my son. Heck, like I posted above I got him on the field to escort Everton/Philly :)

Recently, actually: Game 6 of the Stanley Cup first round between the Devils and the Panthers. Devils winning it (2OT) and tying the series kept them alive to move on to this series against the Flyers.

UFC83 in Montreal, UFCs first foray into Canada.
They were worried about rioting and violence yet nothing happened except a great event and a LOT of happy fans.

The next day the city burned with rioting and violence, because the Habs were out of the playoffs. I realized I enjoy watching fighting more than Hockey.

I was at the game where Florida lost against Ole Miss in 2008

oh also i was in the audience for Nickelodeon GUTS when i was like 4

I saw Brazil play a soccer match against someone in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. I was only 8 at the time, so I don't remember it too well. But I do remember the underdog won the game. On the way into the stadium, legions of street vendors were selling one team's merch. On the way out, they'd all switched to selling stuff for the winning team.

That was Argentina vs Brazil and I was there as well. I remember all of their fans going nuts prior to the game outside of the stadium. And after the game, it was even worse.

was thinking about this thread recently. Its been almost a year, was wondering if anyone has attended any awesome gms since last May or remember older ones. I attended my first MLB playoffs gm last October. it was Yanks vs. Orioles, the famous gm where A-Rod was pinch hit for by Ibanez. Ibanez hits the game tying then the walk-off HRs.
