billbil-kin - Two PS5 packs(bundles) with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 approaching, and cheaply.

Although the partnership between Sony and Activision seems less relevant since its acquisition by Microsoft, the Japanese company remains committed to one of its flagship licenses: Call of Duty. Thus, several new packs accompanied by great promotions will soon be launched, including in Europe.
In recent years, Sony has been releasing numerous PS5 and PS4 bundles featuring Call of Duty games . The latest release was in November 2023, with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III .

Despite Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's release in October 2024, no PS5 bundle featuring the game has yet been released. Some players believe this could be a direct result of Microsoft 's acquisition of Activision , especially since the new game is the first to arrive on Xbox Game Pass on Day One .

Sony also seems determined to maintain its pace of releasing new PS5 bundles. In fact, we believe we've identified the one that will succeed the Astro Bot bundle released last March. Below, we'll detail everything we know about the different editions of this bundle.

Two PS5 bundles with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are coming soon, and at a great price!

Two new PS5 bundles featuring Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 are expected to be available soon. They will reportedly be offered with both versions of the console: the PS5 Standard (with disc drive) and the PS5 Digital Edition .

As usual, the game will be included as a download code. The packs are expected to be released in Europe, North America, and other regions around the world.
The good news is the pricing, which some will surely compare to the new Xbox console prices, which have been increasing since May 1st. Unlike previous Call of Duty bundles, launch promotions are planned. Here are some price estimates in US dollars and euros:
  • PS5 Slim Standard Bundle (with disc drive) + Call of Duty Black Ops 6 download code : $449.99 USD / €499.99 (estimated).
  • PS5 Slim Digital Edition Bundle (without disc drive) + Call of Duty Black Ops 6 download code : $399.99 USD / €449.99 (estimated).
Finally, the exact release date and the possible presence of in-game bonuses remain unknown. It's possible that this launch could coincide with the start of the game's Season 4 or with the arrival of Days of Play, events scheduled for late May. We will update this article if new information reaches us before these packs are announced.

Microsoft: Lets increase the prices of our consoles

Also Microsoft: Let's have one of our new biggest IP's on Sony's cheaper console and let them make the bundle even cheaper

…I dont even anymore

There were reports Sony, Samsung among others were moving large amounts of stock to US to avoid tariffs in the short term. I am just waiting for an Indiana Jones warehouse scene with PS5 bundles.

If those US prices are true then these new PS5 bundles will sell like hot cakes.
If these prices hold through to retail then it's almost certainly a sign that Sony is willing to take some financial pain to take more US marketshare from Xbox.

They spent 70 billion to end the PS5 marketing deal, to start it over on year later, good job Phil
Its a very logical step imo, and one they should have done more than a year ago.

By eschewing Sony and Nintendo marketing deals, they were putting themselves at a big disadvantage compared to other AAA endeavors.

Next up is gonna be selling the rights for exclusive maps advanced access etc. But they need Xbox to be thoroughly gone for that to work.

Lmao, I'm not sure what's going on with Xbox these days, but they should really drop the pretense that they're working on next gen hardware. Because it looks like they're focused on wiping out anything related to Xbox as gaming hardware, if those competitor prices are real.

Agreement with CMA completely prevents this.

My god it probably does, doesn't it?

Its kind of what S SneakersSO talked about previously.. ABK is slowly taking over the reins and imposing their way of thinking on the MS Gaming/Xbox people.

Any argument between the two sides is gonna be quickly settled with some slideshow from the ABK peeps showing Nadella that their way makes more $$$$.

Why would Nadella listen to Sarah Bond or Phil Spencer over the guys that have a much richer history of moneymaking in the gaming biz?

Inexplicable and at the same time funny after the price increase of XSeries consoles....🙃
If my hunch is right about how Bilbil gets his info (retail backend item listings), then barring any new tariff shenanigans, this bundle is actually gonna land at this price.

It's also costing Sony more money to do this than the Astrobot one too.

PS5 Digital 1TB + COD6 = $399
Series S 1TB + nothing = $429

PS5 1TB + COD6 = $449
Series X + nothing = $599

This only makes sense if MS wants to kill Xbox quickly and turn Playstation into its new "Xbox"—a surreal $150 difference :pie_diana:

I'm honestly finding it hard to believe they go ahead with those prices considering everything that's going on. Would be insane.

It suggests that Sony stockpiled significant PS5s in anticipation of GTA6 this year and that they're looking for avenues to shift this inventory, but I think it is super questionable to do a BLOPS6 bundle at this stage. Is that at all a driver? It's still one of the most popular games, so I guess, but it seems odd that they'd limit Astro Bot retail bundles in favor of this.

They already had Astro Bot bundled at these prices. I think that made way more sense than BLOPS6. So I wonder what this actually says about Activision and Sony moving forward, if there is a new deal in place with Microsoft.

But yeah, if these prices hold, I'd say that it means Sony is in it for the market share and have sufficient inventory for the rest of the year, and that Microsoft has definitely waved the white flag. GTA6 delaying to 2026 probably hurt Microsoft more than it hurt Sony even though GTA6 will sell significantly better on PS5 than XBS.

This pretense is making them billions in revenue... why would they drop it?

I can't spin this any other way other than Sony is eating Microsoft's lunch.

Also the prices are unusually inexpensive with all the bullshit going on in the world. Wonder if any Pro bundles are dropping soon. I might upgrade is the value is there.

Reminds me of boeing and mcdonnell douglas.

Also yeah money speaks and like O Ozriel said, I find it hard to believe that ms is going to launch another console gen.

My bet is that,
1. They will launch a handheld this year but it would be a 3rd party developed windows handheld rather than an Xbox one( I think there are rumours pointing to this).

2. They will launch an integration of Xbox ps into windows ( kind of like back compact) and will launcha 3rd party developed hardwares next year( kind of like 3do). There won't be a dedicated hardware. It will allow Xbox users to access their library from windows pcs. It won't be a console rather a pc.

Yeah would make sense these are the stockpiled consoles.

BLOPS 6 bundle is indeed wierd at this late stage, maybe they got a really good deal from activision? i don't know.

absolutely insane prices.

LOL. From Sony's perspective, seriously, what did Xbox's acquisition of Activision changed?

If anything, Sony significantly benefited because of this acquisition. They now don't have pay millions of dollars in marketing deals, but they still get all the benefits lol.

Even the best deal doesn't make sense unless part of the deal is CoD 2025 as well.

Promoting Astro Bot as the bundle makes more sense at least to me, because you're building up brand recognition for Astro Bot. Just not really sure what this does. Maybe you're specifically targeting PS4 owners who haven't purchased CoD yet in hopes that they move over to PS5 at these prices, but yeah the timing is just super weird.

I also wonder how weird things continue to get. Will Microsoft and Sony partner on making a Gears of War Dual Sense, maybe even in the Xbox controller configuration?

If we assume a sunsetting of the Xbox brand, I'd have to imagine that Microsoft and Sony's relationship is going to change drastically.

This is crazy. MS is literally killing Xbox right in front of our eyes haha

People have tried to tell you this for years, but it seems the last year or so has been somewhat of a wake up call for you.

Of course it's logical, but after all the drama around marketing deals, the 80%-20% stuff, the 10 years deal, etc, it went back to normal with an even bigger advantage for Sony. Or that's 4D chess, or even 70billionD chess

I always found it funny the people who were attacking Jim Ryan. I said it before but he's probably the most consequential head of SIE in its history, maybe other than Ken Kutaragi.

They are trying to sell hardware, especially ahead of the Switch 2 launch. COD is a much bigger draw than Astro Bot.

The Astro Bot bundle is largely sold out at retail. You can't even get it on Amazon. I just don't believe that they wouldn't sell hardware with Astro Bot given the price alone.

MS were not actively killing the Xbox brand until like 2 years ago. They definitely thought they could win this gen at the start of it. Years of failure and the ABK purchase has caused this.

It wasn't about Microsoft attempts to kill Xbox early on, it was about their failures that you kind of glossed over.

I'm honestly surprised anyone bought an XBS after the X1, which was a complete disaster. The lack of a flagship title at launch, delays to games like Halo Infinite and Starfield. Disappointing software release after disappointing software release...

I don't want to harp on you, but you were absolutely along for the ride. Didn't you say you bought your son an xbox just last year or something? Was that you?

Don't be a weirdo, man. Not over videogames. His son's Xbox (if it was him) isn't going to self-destruct

What the fuck 😃

Also Sony must've stock pilled millions upon millions of Consoles in warehouses.
What's funny is Xbox would have known about the stockpiling aswell if these cod bundles are the stockpiled consoles.

With bean counter totoki hovering over playstation i can't imagine sony willing to take that much if any financial hits on these cod bundles.

I mean what's the point? COD is gonna sell anyway and it's probably selling best on playstation.

How am I being a weirdo? (if it was him) it's information he brought up. You make it sound like I doxxed him.

It was a bad investment and to make it last year knowing what he knew (again, assuming it was him, I could have confused him for someone else) was an odd decision and it was odd at the time.

Edit: I'll add that when I was a kid that I asked my dad for a game gear instead of the GameBoy. A decision I massively regretted over time and wish he had the knowledge of the industry to push me to buy a GameBoy. Which isn't to say that I didn't love my Game Gear, I did. But I was late to the party on a great many games as a result of my decision and probably missed out altogether on some.

This just shows how MS's strategy changed since the Activision acquisition happened.
My guess is they'll delay price increases until early next year/once their stockpile is exhausted. There's also a pretty good chance that these tariffs don't remain in place through the holidays.
Yeah i wonder when Sony's quarter results are coming in? Not only we're getting a bigger picture of hardware they have produced but not sold but they will probably mention this as well.

Yeah man, it was me. I think the series X is an awesome console and with Gamepass i personally play my Xbox probably 10 x what I play my PS5.

Gamepass and Series X is an incredible value proposition. I will happily stand by that.

The 14th, so we'll have a pretty good idea of what the next year is going to look like pretty soon. Sony was in a unique position to amasse millions of PS5s in the US.

If they moved fast say in November, they could have surged 2-2.5 million units per month to the US as early as December.

December, January, February, March... 4 months of surge as represented in the fiscal report, could mean as many as 10 million units plus an additional 2.5 million units in April, for 12.5 million units. That would probably cover Sony for the next 2 years in the US.

That being said, we probably will only see a slight bump in inventory, but the real question is distribution.

I'd never buy a system today, that I didn't think my purchases would carry over to the next generation. I guess maybe that's just me and has a lot to do with my backlog of games and lack of interest in GamePass, but even if I was interested in GamePass, I'd access it through Nvidia GeForce Now before I bought an XSX for it. The system likely loses mainstream support in a year or two... which could include GamePass games.

This is why there is no excuse for Microsoft raising their prices. Trump always said he was going to push tarriffs way more aggressively if he was elected again. Sony and Nintendo correctly stored up a bunch of inventory in case that happened. Microsoft were probably going to raise prices regardless of tarrifs because their console sales are in the toilet. They were already losing a bunch of money on their hardware

But I'm sure if this trade war continues for much longer that everyone will raise prices
