Billbill-kun: Horizon Lego is day 1 on PC and PS5

Oh, shit. I know where this is heading.

Finish him Topher

Nah, let's not change this, it's indeed a first-party game releasing day one on PC, but at the same time, it's a weird and quirky SIE Europe project involving the LEGO license...

So Ubisoft, the publisher and Rabbids IP holder is deciding where...
lol....you keep ignoring the "Lego" part of all this.

The analogy doesn't work here. Mario belongs to a platform holder, Lego does not own any competing platforms. The Horizon part of the name has more sway where the game goes. Lego is just taking money for the license.

MrMoose has joined as a support fighter. Can Apple still hold on?

Not competing the two on hypothetical dollar amount. Only comparing the two based on the pure fact that SIE is publishing the game exclusively on their console and PC. And the publisher decides what platforms the game goes on.
It's still a negotiation between the two, and obviously Sony is fine releasing on both.

It's mutually beneficial to come to a contractual agreement that suits both parties, for Sony this is masses more exposure to the brand via Legos as well as the game itself, for Lego they get to put their name on a popular IP and create a new Lego game obviously. But this somehow has some people all worked up and how this is the end of PlayStation or something, really strange.

Yes, modern game development is a complicated process. We all understand that, but at the highest level, we can still differentiate what's a 1st party game vs a 3rd party game. The next God of War game will be worked on by dozens of teams and external companies no doubt, but we all know that Santa Monica will be credited as the primary development studio even if their team only makes up 10% of the total amount of people listed in the credits.
Yep

lol....you are making this shit up as you go.

This match is crazy folks. The one and only heisenberg has come to back up Apple. I can barely hold onto my seat. I just hope he doesn't shoot himself with his own gun again

So Lego just tells Sony where they are putting the Sony owned IP?

Sony had no way of saying "Its PS5 only or you are not using our IP?"

I am legit asking because this shit is above my paygrade
could they have? sure, but that doesn't mean Lego would have signed off on it then

I mean people are arguing over a game that hasn't even been officially announced yet and we know the motives behind a certain contingent who just want to see PlayStation fall, same reason we see people arguing consoles are dying because a certain console is dying

We are talking about two corporations engaging in a joint venture. Seems pretty obvious to me that they had to come to an agreement on many aspects of this thing, including what platforms would be supported. So Lego isn't telling Sony where to put Sony owned IP anymore than Sony is telling Lego where to put Lego IP. I think any collaboration like this is going to require some compromises.

Lego already determined the outcome of the next presidential election, we just don't know it. There's no negotiating with them.

This thread has made my morning fly by. Thanks. Most of all, I want to thank Sony for finally playing ball and realizing that the PC releases of their IP should be out day and date with the console.

Even Topher Topher has acknowledged that Sony is taking steps in the direction of releasing games on PC, Xbox and switch 2.

I think you are forgetting who owns the IP of the game.

Lego can't decide on anything here. This isn't Mario and rabbid situation. Or spiderman on marvel avengers game.

I'm glad concord dissapointed you. Like. I'm really happy about it.
It will create a tremendous story.

An entire industry trying their hardest to champion astro boy while simultaneously trying to bury Concord.

In ~6 months we will see the online masses sheepishly migrate back to their ridiculous talking points as they try their best to ignore the data.

I get excited just thinking about it.

Lego is IP just as much as Horizons is. Who owns the Lego IP? Hint: not Sony
