Regarding fishing, is it actually fun and more importantly, is it useful for ANYTHING?

Fishing in FF:XIV felt useless, it was like they put so much trouble on having different fish in different areas of hte world and freshwater vs saltwater, etc but in tihei end it just felt "tacked on" and not nearly as useful to do vs the other things. Aside from a random % chance to catch a pet or something it was meh.

I'd love for fishing to be fun but also rewarding in the sense that doing it rewards you and feels like you are able to make use of the fish you catch among other things.

It seems like it's pretty laid back seeing as I see people mention that fishing is an afk-activity. However, what I read also said that fishes at the higher levels of the skill were pretty valuable.

It's need to craft certain items, and you also can get special extra items including these like motes of energy that can be combined to summon a boss for rare loot.

Fish can be traded to vendors for exorbitant amounts if you set it up right, or "dried" to prevent them from spoiling (yes, fish spoils after 24 hours!) so you can sell it later or use it in alchemy or the like.

Just to clarify, this beta starts at 3 AM EST. So get readyyyyyyyyyyy

Well guild invites are done face to face in-game, so just find me (Ashodin) and I'll start one.

I think at first we may have to do a clan though, which is no problem to upgrade to a guild status.

Okay cool. Does Black Desert have servers? Or is it one megaserver? And if it does, which server will GAF on?

They're done face to face?! THIS GAME IS AWESOME. So many 'old school' mechanics that I'm sure would bother some people but are sweet as hell to me.

So, I gambled with GAF on Blade and Soul and bought in early. How good is BDO? Like, I watched some videos and it seemed impressive but from those who have played, worth jumping in?

A warning for when CBT2 goes live tomorrow: the first few areas where you're asked to kill X amount of mob type Y will be clusterfucks because everyone will be doing those quests.

Ignore the circles on the map and go like 500 feet in any direction and you'll find plenty of goblins that the people camping the circles won't know about.

Depends, what are you looking for?

Looking for something fun, in depth, interesting crafting/gathering (that can make some money here and there), good clan features, and just something generally fun to improve and invest in a character.

Seems pretty broad to me, but yeah, this game has that for sure. Guilds upgrade and get bonuses to damage and exp, you can adventure on guild crafting/trading/mob kill missions, the crafting/gathering is pretty damn involved (what with NPCs who you can set up to do the work or you can do it all yourself).

Here's a thing to blow your mind about gathering: the game has a humidity and temperature map that shows you where the most arid and humid spots are to plant your seeds in the game are.

As you can see, on the right the land is much more arid, so it's reddish to illustrate that.

Crafting/gathering/trading is very in depth and the clan system is pretty unique.

Daaaaaamn.

Well, I guess finally...is the game good? Fun to play? I know it LOOKS gorgeous, but does the gameplay/game's world keep you hooked?

I've played some of the KR version, and the combat is amazing. The world looks gorgeous, you can climb anywhere, storms happen at any time, day or night, the NPCs have their own schedules, and now we'll be able to understand the lore in English!

This is probably my final edit of my young wizard design.

lol what a moneygrab, 30$ for costumes and what are those garbage revival items hahaha

I'm pretty sure the $30 is also the price of the game. It's Buy-to-play in the West, whereas it was free to play before now. They changed their distribution model entirely to work with a Western audience. So the costumes and additional items are supplemental to buying a copy of the game itself.

they released patch notes for the CBT2

holy shit, 32 dollars for full armors are expensive! didnt had intention to buy anything from the store, but 32 dollars seems a bit high...

havent played a lot of mmo games, so maybe thats the price for that kind of things in games now a days?

Nah, this is likely just a test of the prices before launch. The developers are VERY careful to listen to feedback, so they're definitely watching right now to see reactions.

The costumes in Korea are about 60 dollars.

Our prices are fine all things considering.

Just a tip to all gaffers regarding costumes. You dont need the weapon skin, it adds basically nothing but its 10 bucks so when shopping for one just dont buy the weapon.

Question, how will names look in-game? For example, lets say I have Seth as a player name, and Aadrian1234 as a family name. How will it look like in-game for everyone to see, and how will it look like in party/ guild chat?

Wait you pay to buy gear?

Nope, those are cosmetics

Isn't there a huge lack of visual gear though? I remember from first beta, getting new items didn't change the look of your clothing.

It's no where near like western mmo's in terms of finding new equipment and then expecting it to change the "look" of what you have on, at least from what I read.

I think a lot of people will get a bit upset that the loot/armor doesn't really visually show up on your character and thus the drive toward making people buy cosmetic items in the shop.

I really hope I can get a key for this game. I am super interested in this game based on everything that I have seen about it. It does seem like a fantastic game. I am just afraid that the style of MMO that it is may end up boring me way sooner than expected.

It looks like that's only for Korea, as they took away some of the crafted styles for cash shop items.

Over here in the west they should be added back to the game in general.
