If you want to turn your brain off and stare at tits, ass and magic for 20 minutes, you could probably do worse than Fairy Tail.

Probably.

YAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

This is my favorite anime ever. Sucks that I'm no longer interested in anime now the same way I was when I was younger but I'm so hype this is coming on. Saturday became awesome again.

Love Black Lagoon. Great characters and setting, plus incredibly fun action, while at the same time there's this terrible sadness at the core of the show.

READY THE CENSORS, BOYS!

Seriously, though. It's a pretty solid series. Roberta's Blood Trail was a bit silly, but the 1st season and Second Barrage are good. I'm gonna watch it on Toonami just to see how much they cut. I think that's probably why they hadn't pursued Black Lagoon in the past, but I don't know why they would have changed their minds now.

Agree...it's different from what you might expect.

I also like how after every arc
Rock falls deeper into madness.

I've been aware of this anime for years, but I probably never gave it a fair chance since it seemed like just one of those mindless, overly-violent shows without much substance. This thread seems to hint that maybe it's not, and that intrigues me. I will surely give this one a go when it airs.

Haven't been able to get into that many Toonami/Adult Swim anime in the past. Last one I guess I really loved was Moribito. Oh, and FMA Brotherhood. But with the new revived Toonami, I am really digging them. Their December movie month was great.

SAO was not my cup of tea, nor does Blue Exorcist (which will replace it) seem like it will be either. Soul Eater was too weird for me. I still like Bebop, I'm just waiting on the Blu Rays. Space Dandy is no Bebop, but it's entertaining and gorgeous.

Hopefully they show Attack on Titan soon. Or if they're going for older series, then they should definitely show Claymore.

How much censoring does the Boondocks have? That will be the level of censorship the show will most likely get.

Adult swim has been dealing with dark topics for years
(the twins will be a heavy topic)
but honestly the fuck word would be the hardest part to fix. If they basically air the original dub I see them just bleeping it or or maybe recording new language for those spots. On the flip I could see them just doing their own dub, they have the money to do it and honestly the first dub wasn't anything amazing so why not.

It'll be bleeped just like Deadman Wonderland. I doubt Turner is going to shell out money for the rights to Black Lagoon and redub the entire series.

Toonami seems to have really taken off. I wonder if Psycho-Pass and Attack on Titan will air eventually? Maybe even Magi or Fate/Zero.

Attack on Titan is one of the most requested shows, I'm sure they'll do everything in their power to aquire it once a dub is announced. I think it would do well as a Space Dandy replacement.

Do they only air dubbed shows?
For an anime block that seems kinda limiting.

Yes, ratings slide whenever subs air on television.

Personally I dont like dubs at all.

But they tell me that tv viewers don't like subbed anime, so I dont know.

I find it bizarre that any fan of japanese animation would be put off by subtitles. It comes with the territory.

Holy shit at people defending this dub you people are seriously complaining about the what? five? sentences in those two episodes Revy speaks in English? Jesus. The English voice actors, Revy (one of the worst voice performances I have ever heard) especially totally change the tone and delivery of the lines.

Episode 7 spoilers.

Sorry the dub is shit period.

So much wrong in these posts. You're allowed to have preferences, but the dub is awesome.

Not everyone wants to keep up with reading subtitles for 6 hours in the middle of the night. I know I wouldn't, and I like both sub/dub.

Anyway I haven't seen Black Lagoon yet. I look forward to March. :D

Subs are niche on live TV, and as dubs go this is one of the few that can outdo the original Japanese dub depending on your tastes. The vast majority of the mainstream TV viewing audience doesn't want subs.

Revy's VA actually comes off ok-much better then she could've been 10-20 some years ago.

I'm OK with the dubbed versions of shows being played on TV. I just wish anime on Netflix provided both subs and dubs.

Black Lagoon is probably one of my three favorite anime shows of all time, but I don't really have a reason to watch it on TV considering I own the BDs. I hope Toonami gets it a bunch of new fans. I also agree that the relationship between Rock and Revy is one of the best parts of the show, and people who see it as a mindless action show are missing the point.

Lets not turn this into a sub v dub debate, guys. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but try not to attack other viewers preferences.

I've never understood the dub vs sub debate mentality. Why not just watch the version you prefer and let others watch which version you prefer?

also if memory serves Revy moves from deadpan psychopath to angered yankee gangster girl talk in Japanese so it's not the biggest range. Rock is the best example of acting in both languages.

Dialogue in a language I understand is better than dialogue in a language I don't. I can look at the animation! I can watch the action! No subtitle reading required!

So unless the dub is a trainwreck (which it's not -- the youtube clips don't work for me, but I'm pretty sure I know what episode that is, and it was great in the dub), I'll take the dub, thank you

Never had any issues with the english dub when I watched the series ages ago (cept for the bad roberta ova which was subbed) nor am I in a rush to re-watch this with Japanese audio anytime soon.

I favor Eng dubs over jp dubs in general, but I thought the excellent Black Lagoon dub was appreciated even by those who otherwise might for whatever reason eschew Eng dubs.

For the record I have no problem with dubs, things like Golden Boy for example is just about a perfect English dub. My problem is not "fucking dubs" it's fucking this dub. It was awful.

You don't watch a lot of subs, do you? I can understand prefering dub, but people who watch a lot of subs really have no problem with looking at action and animation despite reading the lines.
