Often

To give you an idea, the top three entries of the 2005 list where Things We Lost in the Fire, Juno, and Lars and the Real Girl. Aaron Sorkin’s script for Charlie Wilson’s War was the #5 script on the first list, and David Benioff’s script for The Kite Runner followed just behind it.
2012′s list included Transcendence and Rodham; Django Unchained and Saving Mr. Banks were among the highlights the year before that.
Movies based on Black List scripts have won 37 Oscars from 196 nominations.. Three out of the last six Best Picture winners were Black List scripts (Argo, The King’s Speech, Slumdog Millionaire), as were seven of the past fourteen screenwriting Oscar winners.
More than 270 scripts from the previous nine annual Black Lists have been produced as feature films.
Movies based on annual Black List scripts have made more than $23.2 billion at the worldwide box office.

Also Cop Out

Argo was like #9 in its year, behind Safe House at #5. The Hunger Games is also in there, behind Abe Lincoln Vampre Hunter,Chronicle and Snow White and the Huntsman. At least it did better than The Butler. So while the movies get made, the ranking itself doesn't seem that good. Sherlock Holmes got 4 mentions in its year.

Slumdog Millionaire is also nice. It got six mentions. Less than The Book of Eli. At least it matched The Wolf of Wall Street that year. It also beat World War Z, The Wrestler and Valkyrie. The Hangover scored worse. The Road was the highest known movie.

Man, there are people who try to make Willy Wonka dark, but how do you even decide to start the story at WW2.
Aside from that...
HUNTSVILLE
A girl tracks down the man responsible for her father’s death and avenges him.

IN THE DEEP
A lone surfer attacked by a shark and stranded on a reef must find a way back to shore before succumbing to her injuries.
...a ton of these summaries sound like they've already been made, multiple times.

I do wonder about...
YELLOWSTONE FALLS
After an apocalyptic event, a mother wolf is separated from her mate and the rest of the pack, and has to protect her cubs from swarms of mutated humans.
...since it doesn't seem like it'd be a talking animal kids' movie.

.

So do summaries for wholly unique masterpieces in film history. We don't really know what these scripts are like at all. Although a dark Wonka sounds bad.

This list seems a little blander than previous years. There doesn't seem to be anything as crazy as that Kubrick moon landing movie from last years list, for example.

Yeah, I guess it does come down to the actual writing, directing, and acting.
Though, the two I mentioned do have rather plain summaries. You'd think they'd be a bit more, if only to try to grab your attention.
