Blade loses director 2 months before shooting; Ali unhappy, script lackluster

How are they treating the IP? There isn't any proof of anything here. It's a nothing burger.
Low quality script, novice director, letting the project get to this point in this kinda shape?

Granted, films with this pre-pro history can turn out great, remember that Viggo Mortensen replaced Townsend like the day before shooting in LOTR, but in general this suggests diffuse issues with production. Disney has a lot of recent films with extensive shooting issues (John Carter, Solo, Rogue One) so to see it spilling over to the MCU is disconcerting to say the least. Blade is a bit of a known quantity compared to a lot of their other IP so I can understand folks disappointment.

Isn't this not supposed to come our for like 3 years?

Im sure it'll be fine. This sorta thing happens all the time.

Also since when is Peyton Reed a yes man? Yall loved his stuff on mandalorian

Let's Keep in mind a few things. This was a passion project for mahershala, this wasn't even on fieges radar initially. Ali pitched it to him. This director guy who left has one real project to his name so I doubt its some wide spanning artistic vision. He probably wasn't ready for a big thing like this.

Why not just let Ali direct?

A better example is Die Hard, they were shooting before the writing was even done! Much was improvised to boot! :messenger_winking_tongue:

Certainly, happens all the time. But back then the stakes were generally lower, the budgets much less, and I think studios were more tolerant of risk taking. OR it was the opposite, a single film was the ABSOLUTE LIFE of a studio, and if it went bust the studio went under. Plenty of them as well. Shit, I could probably post 5 studio logos here that would trigger so much nostalgia it would close the thread for a week out of mourning :p

Point being, how many critical flops had "It all went GREAT! The script was perfect, filming went smoothly, the cast was awesome!" stories? At worst those shoots tend to just be kinda routine, sorta like the later Harry Potter films or something.

Well based on the posts in this thread, it seems the script is lackluster and director change is another. The news about Kevin Feige spread too thin as well isn’t confidence inducing.

I just want Blade to come back big.

Is anyone even that excited about this one?! We already got a kickass Blade trilogy. The first in particular being really good.

And Wesley Snipes is the perfect Blade In the same way Hugh Jackman is the perfect Wolverine so I'm not interested in another actor taking the mantle.

Where do you people get this shit from? There's no such thing as 'perfect' for the role.

There is no proof of any of that. It's a "report" from 2 no name twitter accounts. The only fact is that the director has stepped down due to scheduling issues. For all we know Blade has been delayed and public just doesn't know about it yet.

Blade 1 was fantastic
Blade 2 was OK
Blade 3 was fucking crap.

No snipes no Blade though. and without sounding racist, black don't crack, so it's not like he would look too old or out of place doing modern day blade.

Worst still is I don't believe they even know what made the first Blade as ace as it was, because they sure as shit couldn't replicate that in 2 or 3.
