Yo who took all the Viridian Quartz? Can't find any of them.

The CD on node respawns is apparently 6 hours.

Crafting in this game is as timecore as any other MMO, it's just based on scarcity of resources as opposed in most other games where you grind out 185,265 crafts of some useless item to level up. It's actually one evil system but if you have the infinite spare time and friends who also have infinite spare time you can be rich selling those stones people need for weapon upgrades. Now that I think about it, I haven't seen a crafting system this timecore since FFXI and that's saying a lot.

I'm just now coming to the realization how ridiculous the commitment actually is if I want to make keys, not just for me but also for a friend who has to supply me with a certain mat that requires a 6 hours crafting time.

FFXIV springs to mind here. That's an MMO with a monthly sub plus a cash shop for cosmetics plus a monthly fee for inventory expansion. You literally pay the sub, you pay extra on top every month for more inventory, and then you also can buy costumes in the cash shop. And you're paying monthly subs for shitty servers in Montreal, Canada which are connected to most of North America along a really congested shitty Internet backbone that caused literally every raid group in the GAF guild to have at least 1 and usually multiple members suffer lag and disconnects all the time, forcing many of them to pony up for WTFast just to be able to play the game.

People whining about this completely free MMO launching with a few queues literally have no idea how good they have it. NCSOFT has not held anything back in terms of progression in BnS, unlike for example SWTOR where non-subscribers get shat on from a great height for daring to play their F2P game for free instead of paying. The BnS servers are connected to the Internet along a major backbone in Dallas, TX which is used by many other MMOs including WoW and I have not heard of any significant complaints about lag and disconnects once players fight their way through the queues, unlike many MMOs at launch.

Remember when we used to joke that NCSoft would wreck BnS in the West once they launched?

My partner had already been in the Old Man Cho for 3.5 hours and was around spot 400-ish...

then the electricity in his house went out.

Ahahaha. Guess we're not playing together tonight.

I guess crafting is just not for me then. Gonna ignore it until I get to lvl 45 I guess.

For anyone who has already gotten the afk timer patch, and wants to afk by auto running into a wall, I'd suggest doing it in one of those npc houses that's an instance. Or even a dungeon instance, so no one sees your char.

Seeing some people saying they're gonna report anyone they see running into a wall.

I think they patched something. Talking to NPCs no longer works and when I was auto-running into a wall in an instance, it automatically stopped after a minute.

Poharan:
917 in premium queue

So many premium members in NA. Around 9 pm here in EU there were like 2k people in queue with only 1 premium member waiting lol. Wasn't on the biggest server though, but I guess Poharan also isn't the largest one in NA. I would be interested to see the percentage in premium members in NA and EU. Got the feeling NA is way more dedicated to put money into this game.

Nevermind what I said earlier about the RB+Y for sprint thing. When you change RB+Y to spring it deletes you Y and LB+Y and when set those again it deletes RB+Y for sprint. Why I don't know

Okay.. trying to play with 3 friends on another server. The F8 lobby won't let us invite each other since we're on different servers.

How do we do this?

Thanks!

EDIT: Figured it out! Lobby number on the top left worked!!

Wasn't Aion's issue more of a design one? The game wasn't really western friendly in its core.

Sort of? They really kind of half-assed it, they added Western MMO-style quest hubs up until level 20 or so and then purposely restricted beta players to level 20. The people who bought in at launch got a rude awakening after 20 when the quests stopped and they had to grind the rest of the way to cap. That wasn't the most clever ruse and people were pissed at NCSOFT for that.

But you're right that Aion was also very old-school Korean at endgame, the players who made it to cap weren't happy either. People who didn't quit in the 20's or 30's when they didn't want to grind anymore reached cap and realized there wasn't anything to do except kill each other in unbalanced PvP where flying around in Abyss made it impossible for melee classes to hit anything because of wacky hit detection which wasn't evident in KR where lag is never higher than 20 ms.

How on earth am I ever supposed to try and get into the game? I've never played an MMORPG before so I'm not about to spend money on premium. Should I just wait a few weeks before trying to get in?

My favourite part of playing is when I wait 100 minutes to play, play for an hour, then get disconnected from the server on a loading screen :)

Waiting a week or until they put out the new servers (or have they already?) is probably the best bet. If you can log in during nonpeak times you will be fine. Peak time is really the only time where the queue is terrible.

They put them in today.

I really think they have to think of something else for the queue times. You can't expect your player base to have the game open all day with no playtime. And then if they have it minimized during the huge queues, its way to easy to get in when you dont notice, and then get kicked for being afk.

This is a huge mess.
