nice.

the manga is getting a bit cookie-cutter, but it's still a very awesome series. it's at least much better than Naruto.

I was just browsing some manga to buy and came across Bleach. :)

After finding out there's going to be an anime I wasn't sure if I want to go with the manga... So why not ask the gaffers? I'm curious if Bleach is the kind of manga to translate perfectly to anime or is it maybe too long/good for a 26 episode (or even 50) anime to do it justice? :) If it’s the latter then it’d be a good idea for me to order volumes 1 and 2 after Vagabond. ^__^

For example I have not read One Piece manga or the first 100 Naruto chapters but it’s obvious if One Piece was stoped before entering the grand line it would not be as great. The same with naruto—the Zabuza saga was great but it’s the chuunin exam that fleshed out Naruto’s world. :p

Been reading the manga all summer so yes, I'm also excited.

I'm also thrilled about the Yakitate Japan anime. ^_^

oh come on, the bleach manga is nowhere near as entertaining as the naruto manga

Wow, resurrected topic based on my single comment.

I have not seen them in anime form - but I'm sure Naruto works better as an anime. The whole thing is very flipbook-like.

My problem with Naruto is just... it completely fails to live up to its potential.
It's been 230 chapters - yet the pacing has been slow, and the character development has been boring.
On the other hand, I like Bleach's characterizations. The action is probably not as intense as Naruto, but the characters are rounded and human.

It boggles my mind that Naruto continues to have such a large fanbase in North America. And a largely "stereotypical otaku" one at that. (ie. ^_^ ) Maybe the anime is somehow really fucking good?

Yakitate Japan, Bleach, Gantz season 2 (I'm not sure) <-- preety good line up right there.

Though this year especially is one of the greatest anime seasons ever IMO. That Spring/Summer lineup was just awesome.

Bleach is one of my favorite manga series, so I'm pretty happy it's gettin the anime conversion. But after looking at the anime designs I think the show is gonna be disappointing. The Bleach art has a very distinct look, the characters are pointy there's lots of shading going on, and the characters can get really rough and bloody. I just don't think the simple round anime designs are gonna be able to capture the feel of Bleach.

for example
The end of the recent Renji fight where he is covered in blood from head to toe and still moving, there is just no way a toned down anime will be able to keep the impact that had in the manga

and to join the crowd, yes Bleach is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Naruto in manga form. The character are developed nicely and are all pretty interesting and the art is just leagues above Naruto (or anything else in jump ATM) IMO.

The best news about October is the Beck anime.. but I'm ridiculously excited for Yakitate!! Japan and Bleach as well.

For some reason I could only get about half of the video to load, but from what it showed, that looks REALLY awesome. Definately looking forward to seeing that now. Looks like it starts in October as well.

bleach is awesome. it has a good mix of comedy, action, some touching scenes acted out by well developed characters. i liked it more when it had shorter arcs instead of this longer current arc. though it still has a lot of fights 'n' action and some interesting plot twists.

bleach > one piece >>>> naruto
naruto is just too damn slow.

Meh, I'm reading the Bleach manga also, though I'm not very far along, I still think One Piece > Bleach > Naruto.

I forgot to ask this question... What does Bleach mean in the manga? I hope nothing to do with laundry. :p

I can imagine people browsing the manga section and thinking wtf Bleach!? :lol

it may not be as epic as one piece (with the exception of the current arc) but i find it "denser," that is it gets through more story in shorter time, which i find more enjoyable. plus i find it funnier (not always "let's laugh at luffy's stupidity) and the main character reminds me a bit of gto, which is always good.

why is it called bleach?

'cos the main character has orange hair. although that's his natural colour, others think it's been bleached.
