The cities are FULL of the $90 mount!

It's a new version of the dino mount that gives you Auction House and mail access on the mount.

When I was hardcore playing WoW to have access to AH and mail anywhere I would have gladly dropped $90 for that mount

Those mad or complaining about just wish it was cheaper

As an ex-whale in Blizzard games - nothing out of ordinary here.
We complained and yet we paid. Maybe not 90 per mount, but 20 or 30 easily.

Now Hearthstone packs, that was a real bitch to get out of...

Fucking lmao

Locking actual game mechanics behind mounts now

Fucking scammers

Tell us you've never played World of Warcraft without telling us you've never played World at Warcraft.

The Auction House and mail aren't locked behind the mount. They are physical locations in cities. If you want to sell something or check your mail, you'd have to go back to a city. This is called a "MMO". Engineers had a portable mailbox they could build to access mail anywhere temporarily, but the AH has always been locked to the cities.

A while ago they made a dinosaur mount locked behind an limited-time achievement that gave you AH access on the mount, meaning you could access the AH ANYWHERE and not just in the city. It was a HUGE convienence.

This is just a reskinned version of that mount they're now selling to anyone, and it may just be for the 20th anniversary; thus limited time.

Can't complain that companies are pushing the 80€ price tag when you see this kind of behavior.
When you have whales like me who would buy things I want why not push these type of MTXs?

Just my opinion I would much rather these games offer items in store I know what they are vs loot crates, I never buy that shit

Take a game like World of Tanks, I have purchased many tanks straight from their store and many were higher priced than this mount but never buy their crates hoping for rare tanks

One of the main reasons I had engineer on a few of my "mains" and then they introduced that repair bot, loved that guy

They certainly aren't pushing it because people on the Internet are complaining about it and not buying it, that's for sure. They clearly have data to suggest otherwise.

Yea that's a huge quality of life for sure. Though back in those days, the devs were actually cool and would have probably made it a max level Engineering recipe that dropped from some obscure enemy at a 1% chance. The way MMOgod intended.

They deserve what they get. People are always mad about cod too and AAA game prices yet the new 80 euro cod version sits at the top of the steam charts. If i were a company like activision i'll do the same.

Wow is crazy with mounts. I remember reading that the first rainbow horse made more profit for blizzard than the entirety of SC2. Unreal.

It kind of blows my mind that people are still paying the monthly fee for this game at all 20 years later. And people think GTA has had some legs...

I played WoW for a long time starting with Vanilla.

When Activision took over Blizzard, WoW went massively downhill with extra micro transactions.

No need to explain what the AH or mail system is.

Its still greedy pure and simple.

Imagine unlocking this mount for solo'ing a great raid or something.

If this is a limited time mount that is $90 that would be complete bullshit IMO. It's one thing for it to go away after time if it was tied to an achievement during a certain expansion, but after you drop nearly a hundred bucks on it, that shit better be mine for good. Glad I dont play anymore because man it would be hard to turn down AH access anywhere, I would have probably bitched about the price of it....bought it, grumbled some more....and then loved it lol.

The original version was locked behind a time-limited achievement.

It is yours permanently. I meant it's only going to be available to buy during the anniversary.

Isn't this modern live service gaming 101?
It's all just a balancing act about how far you can push the regular audience without them quitting while getting tons of money from the whales.
As long as there isn't a significant number of people dropping the game over this $90 mount it's a massive win for them as they know they got plenty of whales that will be paying up.

Ah gotcha. I wasn't playing anymore even for the other one so I wasn't sure how it was handled.

You get to keep it forever, the only thing limited is that it's not going to be on sale in the store forever, just until after the first of the year.

Nah, some folks just do not bend over for corporations. Money isn't an issue, being an idiot is.

Proves that gameplay and content are kings.
Alternate take : People get to a point where the sunken cost fallacy just bites them in the ass. They've been doing it so long they can no longer not do it because, well, they've already paid into it this long. I genuinely doubt the average person who has been playing this for 20 years is still having a good time so much as it's just inertia and their life at this point. For a lot of people though it's probably their only social outlet, so I get some of it. I can count on one hand the number of games I've had any interest in putting in more than 100 hours, and Rocket League and Quake 2 mods back in the day are the only ones that have gotten more than 1000 hours, but maybe it's just me.

We haven't had any real innovation in the MMO space for 20 years because people just can't let this game go.

Could be true if new contents/expansions were not a thing.

After all this time has it hit you that maybe, and just maybe, you had a problem?
When I was hardcore raiding and missed some other things I should have attended yeah I may have had a problem managing my time :)

But not the I would buy a $90 mount for access to game features on the spot and not have to fly back to town

Nah, some folks just do not bend over for corporations. Money isn't an issue, being an idiot is.
Has nothing to do with being an idiot as personally I feel I am far from being an idiot

People just place value on items that others wouldn't or maybe couldn't spend, that's all

To call others idiots on what they would spend their money on is a bad take imo
