Blizzard releases a $90 mount for WoW and people are mad, but...

Blizzard releases a $90 mount for WoW and the cities are FULL of the mount!

When I was hardcore raiding and missed some other things I should have attended yeah I may have had a problem managing my time :)

But not the I would buy a $90 mount for access to game features on the spot and not have to fly back to town

Has nothing to do with being an idiot as personally I feel I am far from being an idiot

People just place value on items that others wouldn't or maybe couldn't spend, that's all

To call others idiots on what they would spend their money on is a bad take imo
No, not a bad take. People spend money on plenty of idiotic things, same as this. You can spend money on whatever you'd like, doesn't change the facts.

I don't know you or care to, as you're a random guy or girl on the internet. You say something, I'll give my opinion.

Could be true if new contents/expansions were not a thing.
Yeah, I mean to each their own, but there's not nearly enough new content in this game to justify $3,600 in sub fees over 20 years plus the cost of the expansions themselves for me personally. I get what you're saying though.

Play on private server(s).

Fair enough

But it also allows people to say its a bad take calling people idiots what they spend their money on, why care?

I know people who play WoW that make millions yearly and $90 for a mount isn't an idiotic purchase

Now the person who struggles to live paycheck to paycheck and spends $90 on this that might not be the best use of their money but even then to each their own

It normalizes a practice that takes advantage of people and children as they grow into adulthood to have open bank accounts for corporations.

Having money or not doesn't change the fact that buying digital pixels for 90 dollars is idiotic.

Maybe for weak minded people with no impulse control and if children are buying this that's on the parents

Its just something we have different opinions on and thats cool with me

Hate to break it to anyone though I am far from an idiot :)

We all having differing opinions. A lot of folks are also not weak minded, they are being taken advantage of.

I don't know you, so you could be a complete moron or not. I'm not sure that anyone cares.

Edit: Have a good day.

Being taken advantage of likely constitutes weak minded in my book

Total side note about Paris Hilton and I know no one actually cares but my wife and I were having dinner in Miami and her and a couple of guys in suits were having dinner at a table next to us which was probably 10 feet away

But I could hear her conversations to a degree and her acting dumb is just that, an act she is actually a very smart well spoken lady which caught me off guard a little.

Yeah, I've read the same elsewhere as well, that her ditzy persona is just for appearances and the camera. She's a pretty smart and shrewd IRL.

Gaming has come a long way since the days of

I can't remember which mag it was, either EGM or Gamepro probably, but one of them had an article about this when it dropped and and it accurately predicted exactly where we're at with mtx in gaming today. Good times.

That's because gamers absolutely refuse to vote with their wallets.
I think gamers in general do vote with their wallets look at Concord

People thought the 4090 was DOA but look at the lines at launch

People buy what they desire it just sometimes that rubs a lot of people the wrong way

It's certainly a nice convenience, but something a person could easily live without. If anyone wants to spend that much money on something they like, I'm not about to yuck in their yum. Fuck if I care what they do.

There's also a absolute huge amount of mounts available to be earned in game - often with prestige utility similar to this. I had the Lord of the Reins achievement for 300 mounts (and change) before stopped playing in 2016ish. Looks like there's one for 500 now. This is easily ignorable for most people who don't want to spend money on top of the game. Problem for them is that obviously other's don't mind. It's done and decided long ago people who have the means can easily drop money on the game especially when it's linked with making gold in game. The war's over boys, go rest.

Ah gotcha. I wasn't playing anymore even for the other one so I wasn't sure how it was handled.
It wasn't handled that way either, the only thing you needed to achieve was the following:
- it cost 1mil gold and you right clicked the vendor. Then went away end of expansion.

Just my two cents here: I don't think you're an idiot, and I agree that people place value on items that others wouldn't. My issue is that people like you (and I don't mean that in an offensive way) make companies think that this kind of nonsense is okay, which then means that people like me have to watch as companies raise prices for something as basic as a mount to an obscene level. It literally costs more money than the deluxe edition of almost every game. This means that people that don't see the value in something like this, but who still want it, have to either pay for something they don't think is worth that kind of money (which means they are contributing to this ridiculously stupid pricing system as well), or they have to go without something they actually want because the prices are absurd.

Again, you are not an idiot... But I do think that people with that mindset make the industry worse for people without that mindset. That's neither right or wrong, but it does feel bad when you're one of the ones without that mindset. I am still in the group of people who refuse to pay more than $59.99 (plus tax) for a game. People who jump at the $69.99 prices make companies feel that the price jump is justified, and that makes the industry worse for me. Ultimately, this is capitalism at its finest. If the people speak up and they accept ridiculously high prices, that is simply the way it is going to be.

Well thought out and well worded argument and I 100% agree with much of what you said.

Problem is I am totally one of the whales things like this target not to mention I am an old dude at 57 and if I see something I want I snag it from video games to vehicles to even homes

If this was a free to play game I'd be shaking the hands of those dino buyers helping to keep the game I play for free afloat.

bruh this is a data driven choice by blizzard, they analize EVERYTHING and determined that dumb fucks would pay $90, they release the thing and ohh surprise, dumb fucks buy said this at $90.

its no accident.

people are free to do whatever they want with their money. I would never buy such thing, even if i was a millionaire. but hey, look at that picture, its selling like hot cakes.

I bought this the minute I saw it. I 0lay wow a few times a week and it is a huge time saver. Plus I can sit on it and call people brokies that can't afford one. It's a win win.

I was a Wow addict, but never gave a shit about mounts. 90 Euro for a stupid skin seems insane to me.
It's not a skin. The only other mount that ever had a auction house on it was limited time and went for millions of gold. This one has a auction house and a mailbox. So you can buy and sell then receive packages and gold from it. It's awesome.

Ok, sounds useful. But couldn't you also do this on your smartphone in later wow versions, even while offline?

Ah, thanks. In that case it's actually not too bad for hardcore gamers. Should have scrolled below the picture :messenger_grinning_squinting:
Yeah it's awesome if you play regularly. I mean if I'm going to so a dungeon I can mount up buy flask potions. Get them from mail get a repair hammer. Anything I want. And I don't have to move to do it. If you have the extra money it's great.
