I think it's more like choosing a "farming" profession; i.e. herbalism gives you Lifeblood which is a HoT, mining gives you Toughness which increases stamina, and skinning increases your critical strike rating.
 
Confirmed that all characters will inhabit the post-sundering world- no "Caverns of Time" phasing. The old-world leveling flow looks VASTLY improved.
 
fucking awesome... the actual old world has now progressed 5 years. I can't wait to see what they do with the major cities.

This is exactly what Blizzard needed to do.

This doesn't seem like an ideal combination to me. The spell haste is nice, but the troll's other effective racial, which reduces snare/root duration, is almost entirely unnecessary for a Druid.

It's a bit like Undead Warriors: do they REALLY need another way to break fear? I'm not saying it's a terrible combination, but I feel confident saying Taurens will remain superior for my purposes.
 
So awesome. Took a Human Warrior through the quests are Darkshore just this week, so it's absolutely awesome to see all these changes straight up.

I'm just glad I'll fucking finally be able to completely avoid making a Nelf character. Worgen Druids ftw.

EDIT: Underwater mounts confirmed. I want a dolphin.

Different strokes, I guess. I've always hated the Warcraft universe's interpretation of goblins...but then again there are few variations on the classic fantasy goblin I like to begin with. They'll be to the Horde what the Night Elves are to the Alliance on my character selection screens (i.e., absent).
 
Deepholm: fully underground zone.

Sounds like they're revisiting the ideas they had for Northrend (they were going to have Ajol'Nerub to be a full underground zone)

Deepholm will have the portals, they haven't named a city yet though.
 
Not sure if anyone here mentioned it but one of the developers said this time next year all the alliance players will be complaining about goblin rogues. I'm guess the expansion pack could be out between now and then possibly?

Yeah I'm planning to level both factions one more time before they change everything! Should be fun knowing I'm going through it all for the last time.

I might even turn off leveling when appropriate so I can see/do everything on one character.

I considered that to be an off-the-cuff sarcastic comment. If this thing honest-to-god makes it out before 2011 I'll surprised, considering just how much friggin' work they're putting into it.

Good catch! I've always felt that summer '10 would be their target date for this expansion. 3.3 is pretty much it for Wrath; there's no way that's going to hold everyone over for a whole year.

Sent it to your twitter as well, but here's my question: (and it is a little WoW specific)

Any plans for the Caverns of Time in this xpac? I've seen the War of the Ancients tossed around as a promising instance and it seems to tie in with the story of this xpac rather well.
