Blizzcon Discussion thread of "you made how many billion?"

Has anyone asked if there are plans to update the old races, that orc looked really out date next to the goblin.

Now that they are going back to the old world, this is a good chance to update the old races.

Something doesn't seem right, but going by that screenshot, if those are all StarCraft 2 maps, then it's already in the game.

I must be missing something because I remember reading DOTA support was definitely not done. If those are all StarCraft 1 maps, or WarCraft 3 maps, then Blizzard needs to work on getting the top middle to say the correct game!

It's just a mockup.

Huh. Revamped Azeroth throughout.

Its almost tempting to go back and roll a new character.

I have not played WoW since 2006-7 before any expansion. When MC was about as high end as it got.

its probably like in wow where the machinima style cinematics are only used for trailers not for cutscenes in the game. ok wrathgate is the only exception for that.

Well then it'll be just like home, since Ragnaros is back "and pissed off"; wreaking havoc on Mount Hyjal :D

God, every single thing I've seen looks great.

WoW? I'm right back in after a post-WotLK hiatus
SC2 - Just as excited as ever
Diablo3 - Suddenly almost as interested in it as I am SC, must stop thinking about this game already as it's probably still over a year away :(
B.Net - Can't bloody wait, I've wanted Blizz to steal every single feature of Steam forever, and the extra stuff on top looks great. Really helps that I'm a total drooling fanboy for all Blizzards franchises. :lol

Nooooo what will be of my Holy Paladin ç_ç
I don't like all of the overall changes they'll be making to the game... I think they'll loose a lote of players for that :/

only a few whining people. they are a vocal minority.
QQ IF THEY MAKE DWARF SHAMANS I QUIT. etc you find those all over the forums.

For returning viewers it kinda hurts too, all the behind the scenes stuff was reruns from last year.

Sound problems out the ying yang first day, and we are missing like 4 WoW panels today? Why? Also, why was the contests cut off halfway in?? We still had like 15mins left, ended at 10:45central

Good thing I'm not paying for the stream - MMO champion is going to be covering Blizzcon better than DirectTV.

Wish they would release a DVD of Blizzcon. I would buy that. Then I'd have something I could hold on to and see all their contests and panels at my own time. I know the info would be old by then but it's still fun to see it in video form.

It's not whining for shit like nerfs over a class or a class-race combination I don't want.
I'm talking about the gameplay which will be obviously heavily affected by changes like the stats overhauls. TBH they're quite worrying and they could turn WoW in a complete different game, gameplay wise. I hope I'm wrong.

As if when they ham fisted in stats like spell power and attack power into the game didn't change it into a completely different game gampelay wise?

I don't understand how it could be a "completely different game", exactly. You're just worrying about fewer stats. The core mechanics aren't changing, they're not moving to some sort of Age of Conan-esque style of gameplay. As for the zones, from the sound of it, aside from the obvious aesthetic changes it sounds like they're just updating all of the quests and such so that they flow as well as the Northrend content, as well as the leveling process itself. I have full faith in Blizzard that fundamentally it will be the same World of Warcraft we all love to play.

But hey, I think changes like this are necessary after five years (probably almost six years by the time this thing comes out); when the developer takes a long hard look at the oldest content and see how it pales in comparison to the shiny new stuff, and feel obligated to go back and bring it up to snuff.

Somebody needs to ask it during today's Q & A.

I actually remembered during the WotLK beta they were experimenting with the player textures. The word was that they were trying to see if they could update the models by slapping some higher res textures. The end result was hideous, however, and they reverted the models back. So if it was on their minds then, I really hope they are considering it for Cataclysm. Like I said before, they're redoing so much it only makes sense. They recently updated the Druid animal forms.

I find it funny, The original way people suggested they fix casters was to make them scale with stats. They threw in SP instead. Now they undue that to fix it the way most originally mentioned :lol

One thing the stat thing will greatly help out with is leveling a caster class. there's no spellpower gear, or almost none, leveling up, just Int gear. That, combined with no spell ranks(a particular burden since spells were percentage mana based so you ended up sometimes having your primary nuke doing less than 1 damage per mana) and it'll be great.

1) Is there an unannounced patch to follow 3.3 which will involve a transitional world event of some sort?

2) How many of the world changes will we see before release, and how much sooner will we see those changes?

They will release the new 1-60 Azeroth with an event a few months before Cataclysm proper (and hopefully open up the new class combos). It will give them more time to work on polishing 80-85 content, and help them keep players interested after Icecrown is done with. They did the same pre-WotLK where they did a scourge invasion event on the main cites, and released the new talents trees for everyone to play with.

WotLK was significantly different in terms of how classes are played, but that was never bad.

It's just good improvement.

And where's my costume competition photos? >_<

Did you really enjoy needing a spreadsheet to determine an upgrade because there were like 9 stats on a high level item?

I am all for simplified stats.

has there been much Starcraft 2 coverage? i can't find much, other than a battle.net Q&A

There's a lot of Starcraft panels today, supposedly DirectTV will be showing them, but I think they'll switch coverage.

In how many hours will it start again?

Here's the DirectTV schedule for today (all of which are in the Main Hall D):

- 11:00am PST - Welcome to Day 2

- 11:30am PST - Diablo III Q&A Panel

- 1:00pm PST - World of Warcraft Dungeons & Raids Panel

- 2:30pm PST - Starcraft Lore Panel (:P)

- 4:00pm PST - Starcraft Gameplay Panel

- 6:30pm PST - Closing Ceremony

For some obscure reason they're not broadcasting the WoW Q&A Panel (or, anything for that matter) which is going on right now. :(

The problem is, since Blizzard has two panels going at the same time, they can't show everything. DirectTV will not be broadcasting these panels (All of which are in Hall C):

- Breaking into the Gaming Industry

- 11:30am PST - WoW Game Systems/PvP Discussion Panel

- 1:00pm PST - Diablo III Art Panel (one I personally really wanted to see)

- 2:30pm PST - World of Warcraft Classes, Items, and Professions Panel

- 4:00pm PST - World of Warcraft Live Raid

My guess is they bump the D3 Q&A panel and maybe the Starcraft Lore panel for more WoW stuff. I think they made that schedule before Cataclysm was announced.

I really don't want an hour of stupid D3 questions though:/

Fuck yeah, DIablo 3! In 1 hour right?

There was some cool stuff in the Wrath pre-release event, like the zombie plague, but for the most part it was a rehash of the first Scourge invasion event. We'll see if they can really pull it off.

It does seem like the world event team has more resources than they used to, so I'm optimistic.

Anybody checking out the WoW Q&A going on right now? They just said guilds will be able to create guild heirlooms that function for every member. :O

Starting back up now.

Posted it in the WoW thread, but here's a summary of the WoW Q&A Panel:

- They *eventually* will get around to a Legendary that will appease Feral Druids.
- They'll make sure that the pure DPS classes will always have a place in the raid, they're happy with where hybrid DPS is right now.
- No real plans for Outland to be effected by Cataclysm (Metzen would love to, but can't convince the team to "do his bidding").
- They're keeping a watchful eye on Warriors since they've "fallen behind", they don't want to "homogenize" their abilities as a quick fix for tanking.
- They've been discussing the idea of hunters having more direct control over their pets (giving direct paths, having a teleport-like spell so pets don't run through something like fire on their way back to you).
- They're still working on dance studios, they will be "worth the wait".
- Already confirmed, but they will be updating the classic racial abilities to be just as "fun" as the Goblins and Worgen.
- They're keeping an eye on XP in battlegrounds, they don't want to raise too much or too quickly to avoid XP leechers in Alterac Valley.
- Cataclysm *will* effect the Burning Crusade starting zones, and it was hinted that Khadgar will appear somewhere in Cataclysm.
- Spirit will leave Shadow Priest and Moonkin gear.
- Yep, Arthas drops Shadowmourne instead of Frostmourne.
- Race changes coming somehwre down the line (I would assume for a fee).
- They're happy with where Mage DPS in PvE is right now
- They will be taking another look at Regeneration (the Troll Racial)
- Blizzard wants Rogues to consider using daggers again with the buffs to Assassination in 3.2.2 (question was regarding Rogues being forced into using Fist weapons)
- They will be making professions easier to level in Cataclysm.
- Chilton says that the ability to move around what order your characters are in on the character select screen is on his "UI Wishlist".
- They're actively talking about how to better the latency problems that plague Aussie servers.
- They plan on looking at all vanilla-Reputations for Cataclysm to see if any of them should be brought back "out of necessity".
- They want to add more character customization to the game since more and more people are hitting the end-game, but they're not sure how just yet.
- Guilds will be able to craft Guild-Heirloom Items for any slot that will scale with level (all the way to 85).
- With the removal of Armor Penetration, Blizzard is considering putting an effect like it into talents to non-plate wearing melee classes can compete against plate-wearers.
- Troll and Worgen Druids WILL be getting their own unique Feral shape-shift forms.
- They want to take another look at Arms Warriors to make MS "neat" again.
- Shamans running into the middle of combat to drop totems is something "they're looking at, but aren't sure how to address it yet".
- Metzen hints that Thrall might have some sort of big intervention between Garrosh and Varian.
- Why Night Elf Mages? "Because they're pretty sweet."
- Level 60 Onyxia will not make a return in Cataclysm, it's gone for good.
- No "active" plans to increase amount of character slots per-server.
- In regards to bag-space; Stacks "will get bigger" in Cataclysm.
- Phasing will be much better in Cataclysm, you'll be able to help people with phased quests that you've already completed. Will also happen on a much grander scale (whole mountains moving, etc).
- They're not too concerned about people abusing flying mounts to gank players of the opposing faction in contested zones, since that's just part of playing on a PvP server.
- They have some ideas for a "mentoring" system where players with a vast difference in level would be able to run quests/dungeons together, but we shouldn't really expect any info about it until the next Blizzcon.
- With the removal of Spirit, abilities that use it (like Molten Armor) will be changed.
- There will be "mega" class oriented-hubs in Cataclysm like in Wrath and TBC.
- Zhevras might become tamable in Cataclysm.
- With regards to some sort of "arena-spectator" mode, Chilton: "That'd be cool".
- The "5-second rule" when it comes to mana regen may be ditched due to the changes to mana regen, but they haven't decided yet.

Diablo III Open QA in 10 minutes.

Sounds good. Hope they are coming out with more race change information soon. Don't exactly want to wait till I can create a Goblin, before I level my Rogue. :lol
