My hard drive crashed last month, and I couldn't find my winxp cd, so I used my sister's winxp cd. After installing, it said that I had 30 days to activate windows. But when I clicked on the icon that said this, a blue windows popup came up that said Windows XP is already activated, with the only option being an OK button. I click ok, all is well.

30 days pass, with each day counting down on the popup. I figure either that nothing will happen, since it's already activated, or it will tell me to enter a code, which i have. When i sign on windows, it says you need to activate it before i can use it. I press yes, it goes to the same blue screen saying it's already activated. I hit OK, and it signs off and goes back to the logon screen. So I'm stuck.

OK, no problem- I put this HD as slave drive in my sister's comp and copy the files I need over to hers. But, since i had a password and was the administrator, I can't open my files under my name under Documents and Settings. Access denied.

Any solutions or programs so i can copy my files from a locked out account?

Try setting up the Administrator account on your sister's computer with the same password you used on yours? I really don't know a good way to do it, just an idea.

well if the acount on your sisters computer is administrator I would think there wouldn't be a problem, is it an admin account?

Yes, it is under Administrator account. I've been searching the internet for an answer. I found that in XP Pro you can 'overtake control' or somthing of what are in folders- but it's not on XP Home, which i have. I also tried restarting in safemode, but that didn't work either.

what exactly happens when you try and browse to the files? Do you get the access denied message as soon as you click on your name from documents and settings? If you are the admin you should be able to set security permissions for the folder, right click and choose properties, security then add whatever accounts you wish to have all permissions.
