Bloober Team, the Polish masters of horror, and the Japanese giant Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI) are continuing their partnership, announcing the signing of a new agreement for a joint project. Following the massive success of the remake of one of the most highly anticipated psychological horror games—SILENT HILL 2—the developers are now focusing on a new game based on KONAMI's IP.

KONAMI, a legendary name in the gaming industry, sought a partner who could breathe new life into one of its most iconic franchises—SILENT HILL. Bloober Team was selected for their expertise in horror and atmospheric storytelling, and in 2021, both companies signed a partnership agreement. In October 2022, during the official SILENT HILL Transmission livestream, it was announced that Bloober Team was working on a remake of SILENT HILL 2, widely regarded as one of the best psychological horror games in history.

The success of the remake proved that Bloober Team had perfectly captured the atmosphere and depth of the original while introducing crucial innovations. The game was well-received by players, earning an 86/100 rating on Metacritic and an 88/100 on OpenCritic, along with numerous awards, including Game of the Year 2024 from IGN Japan and Best Horror Game of the Year from the IGN Community Awards.

The trust built upon the success of SILENT HILL 2 laid the foundation for signing another agreement for a new project. The deal aligns with Bloober Team’s strategic plan to expand its internal development division within a first-party framework.
Our collaboration with KONAMI has been incredibly fruitful, and the success of SILENT HILL 2 speaks for itself. By sharing knowledge and experience, we have been able to create high-quality production together. Of course, we can't reveal too many details at this time, but we are confident that fans will be just as excited about our collaboration as we are. We can't wait to share something truly special with players when the time is right.

Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team

Although details of the project remain a mystery, it is confirmed that the game will be based on KONAMI's intellectual property. KONAMI will continue as both the publisher and rights holder of the game.

I'm actually quite excited for a SH1 remake, since remaking a PS1 game is a whole different beast than remaking a PS2 game. Obviously I love the original SH1, but games from that generation stand to gain so much more from a remake than PS2 era games, which honestly look fine and not thaaat much different from today's games, while characters in PS1 games look like Lego's or something.

They would have to hire some experienced outside help and new staff that deeply understand combat and boss design, but if they did that I'd like to see another AAA western Castlevania like Lords of Shadow.

Or they'll do an original Silent Hill I guess. The Medium was pretty good and horror games is pretty much all that they have ever made, so it's probably that.

Can't wait for the technical downsides of the next game and leaving it unpatched for months on end !

Bloober team = good art/art direction, bad everything else (and especially the technical part).

The main thing I want to see from Konami is a new bad ass Castlevania game, it'd fit perfectly in the current shift of Asian dev teams doubling down on high production value Souls inspired action adventure games taking over the western market.
I just don't think Bloober team would be match for that.

I wonder if the wording is so vague because they don't want to outright announce a SH1 or SH3 remake right now, or if it means Bloober Team might be working on some other Konami's IP other than Silent Hill?

More Silent Hill remakes, LFG!

Me as well. I mean, to be fair, it's the one most deserving of a remake considering its age.

Just stay away from Metal Gear
I don't think you have to worry about that, lol.

No shit konami found a studio that can crank out good silent hill games. This is obviously silent hill 1 remake. I bet it will have a bigger budget and more realized silent hill with more exploration as well

Or, they could do what Capcom did and crap out another game (like what happened with with RE3R).

Don't know how well SH2R did, sales wise, but if it didn't do that well (but well enough) they could cut the budget back.
