Silent Hill 1 remake announced - Konami/Bloober

Fuck yes! My favorite in the series. And glad it's Bloober. If they put as much attention into it as the SH2 remake, it should be great.

Harry is a disassociated from life writer, he has nothing to lose lol.

James is just an average wimpy clerk.

Harry will murderize the shit out of James.
Harry is also fighting to find his missing adopted daughter.

James pillowed his wife and fantasized fucking her nurses.

Harry rips through James like Joel in a hospital.

Why did they start with 2?
SH2 is stand alone game with no connection to either 1 or 3, and 3 is in fact the sequel to SH1, so I suppose they thought it was the best way to introduce the franchise again to new people

Hyped, makes no sense to start with 2 just because it's the most known game of the trilogy but I ain't complaining, just need 3 remake to be released next to this one so people can connect the dots and follow the story

god is real GIF

Day Zero

SH 2 Remake was amazing

just played 1 on duckstations some weeks ago, 99% of ppl ll get the bad ending for sure, also they have some real heavy lifting to do, quests and side quest on OG game are terrible.

Edit: and item description too, it is beyond awful.

this is totally increduble news, tho I weas hoping the'y combine 1 and 3 for this one HUGE game... this is so good to hear. As someone who recently replayed original SH1 I hope they take all the liberties they earned with SH2. Hype!

The milking continues.

#FuckKonami

Remake of PSX game requires a shit ton of work - even more so then PS2 remake they did.

I wouldn't say that this is milking, it will start when they announce SH3 remake (using SH2/SH1 assets...). Many people also didn't play SH1 back in the day.

Today is a good day papitos, I trust Bloober Team
After SH2Remake I trust them as well but I do dont make too long like they did with SHR....that my only criticism for that game.

Also Konami releasing brand new SH game that comes out later this year.

Excellent. This needed a remake far more than SH2 did, its practically unplayable.
I tried SH1 recently after not playing it in years, and the controls aged like milk in summer, and I like tank controls in old school games like Resident Evil and tomb raider, but the one in SH1 is just terrible, especially in the parts when the camera moves automatically in fixed camera zones

I just replayed SH1 last year at the height of my "fuck Blooper and SH2R" frenzy and after getting served the biggest dish of crow of all times, I couldn't be happier about this news.

SH2R was their fucking first attempt and I couldn't stop ranting about how much it blew me away. I can't wait what they do with this with some additional confidence and experience under their belts.

Excitement 10/10, will hype again.

I count myself in that category prior to replaying it but people are delusional about the OGs. Or rather they conflate RE and SH designs. SH1 is jam-packed with ammo, combat, no inventory management and shit people consider tedious or cheap design nowadays. I love it and it was a revelation when it came out but the idea that it was well balanced, not combat-heavy or whatever isn't true. The chassis of it is still a RE clone Action Adventure no matter how amazing it is. A few hours in I had like 130 handgun bullets and was Rambo-ing through the game.

I can't wait to see what they do with it.

Perhaps worth reminding, Silent Hill's original dialogue is pure B-horror cheese, deliberately mimicking RE1 vibes as Konami's jab at the genre. To align with SH2R's tone, they'll need a total script rewrite. Can't wait for purists to lose their shit over it.

It shouldn't be too bad, they have two examples to choose from:

Plus, one of them has decently good assets to draw inspiration from:

The characters even have different looks that Bloober can use since SM changed often on player choice:

I wonder what some people would say about beloved games like MGS1 if they never were re-released and Konami announce a remake today. The same row about "it was never very good and the remake will fix it and preserve it"? I cannot wait to see people shitting even on Heather Morris voice acting on SH3 when Konami announce its remake.

Shattered Memories was a great alt take to the original on the Wii, I loved this one. Even had great music. Would love to see some nods and easter eggs by Bloober to pay props to that team trying something that was quite cool and unique with how choices impacted the world.

Shitty. Not read for a polish version of silent hill. WTF would they not hire bokeh game studio who is the director of Silent Hill 1and creator.

Awesome news. Hope it rocks and we get SH3 next.

Shattered Memories is ok but i want them to stick with the original PS game and do their best to recreate it.
If MGS was to be remade i wouldn't want it to be a Twin Snakes remake. Same thing here.

A SH1R with the other remake's tone would be disrespectful to the original's spirit. And hey, I think they should rewrite the dialogue. In fact, that copy paste of SH2's dialogue for the remake with not necessarily better delivery was jarring, and until they water down Maria's dialogue and THE letter for some weird reason (even worse) . A total rewrite for SH1's dialogue for the remake would be fine.

I do expect Harry Mason to have more depth with dialogue and fleteched out, consulted with Konami on how they nail this to be true with the original.

And I can't lie not saying it really rustled me how Luke Roberts didn't win best performance at The Game Awards because he truly killed it with James, he was absolutely incredible.

Bloober did well on choice of performances so I am hoping they strike it again come whoever is picked for the role.

So, why do 2 first? Im a lil confused
Because it's the most famous entry nowadays and the safest to remake. Even in seventh gen Konami was obsessed about aping SH2 and the movie with most western entries. Most of remakes of any medium are made just because the original work's popularity, not because some grand vision thinking originals needed to be fixed or improved for someone.

It's a fan favorite and if you want to make a comeback, fans are what will make or break your game.

Fan favorite doesn't mean it sold better though. SH2 sold more than 1 million copies while SH1 sold more than 2 million.

Konami had to take a break for a while yes, but they are an important developer and it looks like they are back in full force and i couldnt be happier. I am starting to wonder if Physint is secretly metal gear solid 6. just watch lol

Gaming horror is the best form of horror entertainment instead of a boring movie.
I personally wouldn't go that far, because I think every medium has its strengths, buuut yes, horror gaming has a unique power thanks to its interactivity. In fact, I see the first Silent Hill as one of my favorites pieces of horror media (yes, I'm serious).
