BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

The axe is powerful and looks badass, but it is too slow for me. I think I am going to have to start with the threaded cane or sawblade. I will probably use them both.

With the cane you can pretend to be a gentleman. Or a pimp. Or a gentlemanly pimp.

Here's a video of someone fighting the first boss with the axe. He mainly uses the one hand variant so he can fire the gun.

Kinda wish I didn't spoil myself too much on the game, but I've only looked at little bits and pieces of the later stages of the game.

Plenty to explore and discover on my own.

I watched a few streams before picking it up, and all you've done is make a few areas familiar to yourself. Believe me, you have NO IDEA how everything connects, and you'll be lost before you know it. ;)

Nevermind, I misread! Later stages, I see now. My advice still applies!

With regards to the time of day changes, there are more variations than orange sky and night time, right? I don't want to know what they are, just whether or not there are more.

It's funny how often I hear that from people who played Demon's first. I don't have a strong opinion on the "upgrade system" per se, it's neat that it branches in so many ways, but farming for materials is absolutely the worst thing about Demon's Souls. Only things I'd change about it (DeS) are the drop rate on Bladestone and make the crystal lizards respawn until killed (as in Dark Souls) with a 100% drop rate on one pure stone of each type per play through. It is infuriating as is.

I agree that farming for materials in Demon's sometimes a nightmare (fucking Pure Bladestone) but I feel like Demon's had cooler upgrades. Or maybe I just miss the Fatal upgrade.

welp, guess I am streaming after all

doing it for my own gain though.

Just an FYI for those that ordered from Amazon. So it appears my CE is shipping/shipped (?) today. Although, you will not get an email notifying you of the shipment because it is Sunday (PST). One way to tell if your copy has shipped or not is to check if you have been charged. Prime user here as well, so no worries for those in the same situation I'm in.

So i've been peeking at some streams, and it appears that a good amount of bosses lack intro cutscenes. Are they less common in this game, that would be a shame because they'd really be able to show off the visuals.

I guess they went with surprise route. You enter a big room - BOOM - its a boss fight!
You open big doors - the boss is waiting for you!
But I also miss cutscenes. I'm something like 14hours in and I haven't killed a lot of bosses yet tho

Oh I agre, once I divorce the two concepts I can see the point, but both the farming and the sheer obscurity of the upgrade paths in game (seriously, only thing one should consider using a faq for on an otherwise blind playthrough) dramatically colors my impression of it.

Oh for fucks sake. This is the last thing I wanted to hear.

Its just one area so far in an hour of the stream I have seen. Maybe it was the smoke effect.

The loading times concern me far more. Worse than DaS 2 on the PS3 l. :|

Edit

Game looks easier than I thought. This guy is hardly pro and the only time he has dies is when he ran off a plank and plummeted down by accident.

But the art style. Holy fuck, From are god tier when it comes to that. No one else is even close.

If you are talking about Mobius, he is not only a good player, but he is over-leveled and his weapon is max-ed. He was getting rekt in some of the higher levels in the chalice dungeon he beat yesterday.

For those that have seen more of the game (I've really only seen central Yharham), what's the visual variety like in the environments?

It is about comparable to DeS for me in terms of environment variety, but I haven't seen every level in the game yet.

Its a pretty game.

Huge. You always return to these city-areas, but there are
forests and caves
which are beyond beautiful.

How often are we talking about here?
Like when there is a smoke/steam wall and a bunch of enemies moving around fast you might get one short stutter, but that doesnt happen too often.
The games it pretty fluent.

Uh...I've just watched him die to the same boss about 20 times in a row.

We are watching a different person then? This guy isn't Möbius and he certainly ain't a pro either. He isn't fighting any boss anyway.

Hasnt died much at all. Honestly the game does not look difficult. But then again, neither were the previous games (aside from DaS 2's gank squads). This seems easier than the last three though.
