BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

From the wiki:
Vitality = HP
Endurance = Stamina
STR = self explanatory
Skill = DEX
Bloodtinge = Blood weapon damage
Arcane = Fire and lightning weapon damage, it seems?
I need to know what the last 2 stats are for before choosing a build.

Skill should be DEX but the Twinblades apparently have
E in Skill, D in some other stats.
so the wiki is wrong here or that isn't the same DEX.

yessssssssssssssss
just like Demon's Souls it seems.

From fextralife on the Insight stat:
"Beckoning Bell consumes Insight! It seems we get insight from discovering bosses, but you may also get it from using Madman's Skulls."

So it's
consumed for co-op. Maybe also invasions?

But then what
would the point of invasions be? It would make more sense if you gained insight from invasions/killing invaders, like humanity in past games.

Bloodtinge seems to be for guns since those do blood damage. Arcane is for firebombs and other items, probably fire enchants as well?
I meant "I need to know precisely".

a stat only for gun damage? Blood damage is probably related to more stuff. I wouldn't mind a "only guns" build though. Arcane stat being only for items seems odd, however if there is no magic and only "items used as spells" I guess it could make sense.

how do guns work in pvp? the instant travel of bullets vs the time you get to roll through magic attacks usually makes me think those would be obnoxious in pvp

It's probably tied to the damage type itself and not just the weapon type, I imagine?

Sort of how Magic/Faith worked for weapons in the Souls games

I would be surprised if you can't also get it from successfully
invading or completing a co-op session
.

Violent past and military veteran seem to have the smallest amount of points in Bloodtinge and arcane, so I'll likely go with one of them.

Out of these two, violent past seems to focus slightly more on strength and arcane, while military veteran seems to have slightly more in skill and Bloodtinge.

Think I will go with military veteran in the end.

Tell me, can you upgrade weapons in the game or is it more tilted towards mixing and matching weapons?

I think weapons can be upgraded normally.
In addition, there are items called blood gems you can equip your primary weapons with. On blood gems: "The blood gems are an interesting mechanic to add both buffs and debuffs to weapons. Primary weapons can hold up to three different ones as you upgrade them, each slot allowing a certain shape of gem.

Gems can be quite simple, for example adding +10% general attack power or a little more complicated. The cursed blood gems seem to be more powerful at cost to some other aspect of the weapon, so maybe a huge increase to arcane damage but also a decrease to the weapon durability."

Why would anyone want a spoiler? That's like knowing about a surprise party.

It's a video game. I personally couldn't care less about spoilers. The stories in these games have always been nonsensical anyway. The real joy for me comes from playing. Knowing where to get particular weapons before I play has helped me enjoy DS1 and the first Demon's Souls much more.

I'm gonna be a pain in the ass & ask that you describe what kind of spoilers that are inside the tags, I only consider Bosses & locations as spoilers (& lore of course), another person might consider others things as spoilers, it would certainly help.

Apparently the overarching story is more personal and easy to understand and follow this time.

It's interesting to see what you can miss in this game considering how much you can skip in DeS and DS to get to the credits. items you use like magic seem to be the hunter gadgets.

I don't see why people are surprised if someone wants to read/get info on the game this early. not even huge spoilers

uh, no.

Some of us don't consider starting class stat distributions to be spoilers. I was curious about that, so I'm here. I'd also be interested to know more about how deep the combo system really is. Other than that, I'm happy to go in not not knowing anything else.
