BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

I'm still a bit confused about the chalice dungeons. Can a fellow gaffers enlighten me.

I know you pick items up in the game world in order to access them but then what happens. Do you have to use the items in-game for them to be created. Do you also access them ingame?

How many can you create? Is that it once created. If you beat it can you create another or are they just pre set with changing enemies?

I don't think you create them. From what I gather they are randomly generated but if you finish one that you liked or found hard you get an option to save it and share it with friends.

I think a lot of people, including me, thought it would be a small bonus game mode that will add some extra playtime to the game.

Wrong. There is more than 30 levels and boss fights that are partly unique (including OST) and can be insane hard. And this is just based off the info we know so far about the set dungeons. This is not a half heart-ed attempt to increase the longevity of the game.

I can easily see people sinking 10s of hours in the chalice dungeons alone.
This is exactly what the preview for Edge said though. http://imgur.com/a/9xLOL They stated the scariest parts of BB can't be easily replicated on NG+, so the replay value has essentially been moved to Chalice Dungeons. This is basically the hardcore mode for BloodBorne from my perspective. Not only will you NOT be able to commit to memory the layout, but it will be completely new enemies, traps, bosses, weapons, armors, and visuals to go through. This is for the people that first comment is about the difficulty. This for the folks that put in 800 hours. This is going to be the best Souls game of all time! And Mizzy did it with only one SHIELD! '-) GOTY baby...Only competition is MGS5 and Witcher 3

Tks for the awesome Stream yesterday, you literally went all day. Warrior-tier '-)

Ahh ok. So how are these generated. By picking up a certain item ingame and then using it? I then assume it opens up in-game in say hunters dream for you to access?

Chalice dungeon hype. if they're as hard as they say I'll definitely go for co-op.

gaf password should be up as soons as RobotPants OT goes up, by the way.

Mobius is kinda OP right now his weapon is maxed out and he pumped his strength, health, and endurance.

PVP related

There's a very rare item for PvP that coats your weapon in poison and the next hit with it on another player causes their controls to be inverted for a short time/disorients them (walking left will make you go right, backwards will make you go forward, etc.)

DAMN!!!!
what's the name of that item? Sounds awfully broken.

We aren't sure yet of the process, but there are 4 'tiers' of CD based off the early leaks, each with progressive difficulty. The layout of each of the dungeons below Yharnam is procedurally generated so the player cannot commit the map to memory. You get items in the main game that changes aspects of each dungeon. Not too sure about when/how you access it yet, that will become clearer soon, but essentially, it seems to be the hardcore levels of BB. Already confirmed 11 new bosses and much much harder than most of the SP.

I just read that Chalice Dungeon breakdown from Reddit.

Thanks mate.

Sounds awesome. Really does. I mean as if the main game isn't going to be epic enough. This is a full on scrummy dessert after a wonderful Sunday roast :)

Wonder if you can map the touch-pad or button layout to call reinforcements quick .......because it looks like you'll need them in this game a lot. Not unless you just like looking at big red letters....."You Died" .

from what I've seen you need to find one core item + other "minor" items, both are needed to unlock one dungeon. I'm assuming that the dungeon layout changes depending on what you used to create it.

it does sound very interesting, especially after the info and video that came out recently.

I'm done with watching any actual gameplay...I don't want to spoil the fun & adventure that's coming. I've seen probably too much already....

While everyone has seen the level of difficulty in game play I saw something on the Bloodborne Wiki that might hold the clue as to how to deal with it....

http://bloodborne.wikia.com/wiki/Bloodborne

The combat in Bloodborne is similar to the one present in the Souls games, although a few tweaks have been made to the formula. Bloodborne encourages the player to approach combat in a more "agressive" way, instead of the "passive" style of combat present in past games. This not only makes the combat much faster-paced, but also forces the player to rely less on defense in order to survive. According to Miyazaki: "the enemies are strong and fierce, and if you wait passively to respond, you're going to be eaten and killed".

Whats all this talk about the game being easy. I thought it was confirmed to be just as hard as the souls games. Has this changed?

I love the faster combat in this game. I played DeS, DS and DS II with either heavy two-handed, or sword/board-builds.
This game is forcing me to learn a new, aggressive way to play. Good experience so far!

After reading all these threads I'm super hyped. Almost certain I'm going to go with professional origin. I've had this pre-ordered on psn since Christmas. I love the souls games. I wasn't the best at them but enjoyed them so much. If I'm looking to be fast and agile with the saw cleaver does the professional origin sound ok gaf? I want input from all you souls professionals.

For a Souls-vet, basics are easier to grasp. But it is hard still. Propably easier for those who`ve played fast weapon-only builds in the past games.

There is a lot of FUD flying around. From "being to easy" to "only 5 weapons" to "2 minutes load times every time you die". C-Warriors doing work.

Yeah, the blazing fast side-stepping and skirting around enemies looks god-tier from where I stand. I love the Souls series and would not change a thing, but I am glad that they gave Bloodborne it's own style in order set it apart, while still keeping it mostly within the same kind of framework that we all know and love. Now we have two variants of a beautiful thing. Which is what I call balance.
