BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

For those wondering about the 5GB download for Bloodborne (not the 2.7GB Update File), that is only to start the game.

It will continue to download the rest of the game (hit Options on Bloodborne -> Information, and see the Download Status moving). Total download size - 29.89 GB.

Edit: It also says Valid Period (start) 3/24/2015 0:00. I am EDT, however the email we received when preordering stated 10pm on 23rd so this is unclear for me.

hmmm know any stores or shops in the US that are selling bloodborne early or maybe got them in their store already? i know walmart has it..don't know about other stores though lol

I'm totally stuck.

Killed the 4th boss, no idea where to go.

in the prison, there is the Lightning boss thing, but it one hits me. I assume I'm not supposed to go there. I take the elevator in the Carhedral up to the healing church crafting area with the snipers in the roof, but I don't have a key to open the door at the top. Help!

So do we have info on re-speccing stats yet?

Also, I got the
red brooch, should I give it to the little girl, or use it as a blood gem? I'm guessing if I give it to the girl, hopefully it'll pay off later

Alright my bloodborne is downloading for me. I got the game on US psn store but I live in sweden, will I be able to play 24th or do I have to wait till 25th for euro release? right now the game says , 2 days and 5 hours which is the amount of time that remains till 25th here in sweden.

strange, I also got it from the us store but I have 1 day and 9 hours or so. since it's the us version you should be able to play it when the game is out in the us.

I think you have to wait for the EU releasedate even when you buy it from the US store. That was the case for me with CoD: Advanced warfare.

I mean, it would probably be less fun if every boss was ornstein and smough levels of difficulty. Some bosses have to be easier to make players appreciate the greats.

I think some people get too caught up on the hard aspect of the souls games. I liked fights like Moonlight Butterfly, Maiden Astrea, False Idol, etc - they were not hard, but had a neat 'something' about them.

Is it saying that on the US account? If not, maybe if you make it the active account it'll change.

If thats the case then I guess I will be using my US account for a few days to practice then before playing it on my main.

Ye hope I will be able to play in around a day, been planing on playing all day and I hope it will work 24th.

I completely agree. Hard is great, but not always necessarily memorable. A balance between hard and fun is what makes THE WHOLE of souls games so enjoyable.

I totally agree with this. I go for the fun gameplay, atmosphere, lore, and designs. Difficulty is the last thing on my mind. More people need to stop being so obsessed with difficulty and appreciate the other aspects of the game. (Plus the chalice dungeons sound super hard so go there of you want difficulty)

So what are we doing with this thread once the game launches?

IMO, the spoiler tag policy should go away for all Souls/Bloodborne spoilers on day of release.

I think that's a good way to make sure that lots of people don't visit the OT at all.

I'm not even sure you'd want to do it in the Spoiler Thread honestly. People are going to be all kinds of different places in the game. I've been scrupulously not clicking black bars.

I am hoping Bloodborne combat is more similar to Demon's Souls than Dark Souls. I want the faster, more aggressive pacing.
All things points that it is the case. Based on what I've seen so far, the pace os the combat in Bloodborne is even more faster because you need to be aggressive to survive because of the Regain System.

Man the download speed fluctuates a lot. Ranging from 500kb to 7mb. Wonder how many people are downloading right now.

Also, reviews come out tomorrow right? Metascore prediction: 92

For those who already have the game since 3-4 days do you think that the the hype is deserved ? Do you think we have a potential GOTY / game of the gen ?

yo where the hell is she anyway? I feel like the only person in the game to have never found her.

Also,
the blood gem you get is really good. Still using it way later. But as I've never met her I don't know what you're missing out on.

Okay so guys I've never played a souls game, or any game known for being very difficult either. It looks amazing so I decided to pre order Bloodborn a few days ago.

Is there any class or tips for someone like me who is new to these types of games? I'm kind of scared it will be to hard for me or I will have no idea what to do and fuck up. Besides that I'm very exited but I would appreciate some help.

You will fuck up...over and over and over. Part of the learning process.

Best piece of advice. Start slow and don't get greedy.

hat's about where I am at. There is one way I didn't go right past that latern, with a really tall dude. Also there is a key to buy at the hub but it didn't unlock that door for me.

Don't rush or get greedy (going for the last hit instead of healing.)
Be mindful of your stamina. You need that to escape, so don't spam attacks without a plan to back out.
Roll through crates. Feels so good.
Study attack patterns so you know when to dodge.
A lot of mob attacks have a delay. They trick you into dodging early, then they hit you when you're vulnerable. Don't just instantly dodge when you see an attack coming, know the timing so you can dodge without getting hit.

If all else fails, summon someone to help you.

so Bloodborne, unlike the Souls games, actually allows you to coop with whoever you want correct? AKA your friends?

Don't care about difficulty. Maybe you will die a lot in the first few hours but once you get how to play you will be fine. People play the game because the gameplay is fun and the atmosphere is amazing and the lore and deep and fun to read. Stop caring about difficulty because even if you die a lot you will still come back to the game because it's fun so don't worry

I downloaded the game on my Us account but I was loged in on my eu account. That was probably the problem. Gonna try the us account when I get home but anyways thanks for the help guys.

If it's anything like other Souls games, and it seems that it is, starting class really doesn't matter very much. It's just determining your starting stats and what you start out with.

I don't think Souls games are so much the hardest games ever (I think Ninja Gaiden and DMC3 are both quite abit harder, for example), they just don't hold your hand and ask you to pay attention and respect the game world. You'll probably die a lot, but that's okay. There's no reason to get upset about dying.

A week ago I would have said a metacritic score of 90+ was possible. After reading about the excessive loading times and the fact that online play has not been activated yet (meaning some reviewers will not have enough time with this important aspect), I now think a metascore around 86 - 88 is more realistic. Still really good and souls fan should have no hesitation buying this game.

Loading times were quite long in the previous Souls games as well...

The only issue with the loading times in Bloodborne is the awful loading screen.

yeah you should be able to play when it's out in the US. If you can't play when this timer runs out then you'll have to redownload. It's a known bug when preloading games from other regions. (http://secondapps.com/countdown/t1427169600z1.png)
