BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

oh interesting. What determines where you respawn then, I guess is the real question? It just seems odd that he's played a LONG time without any sort of forward spawn

I hear
lanterns
are the bonfires of this game. The last
lantern
you "rest" at is the one you will re-spawn at after you die.

Why would anyone want to choose the Waste of Skin starter class? I don't understand why.

For a challenge, and/or to allocate those 6 stat points into whatever build you want to make.

Thanks.

So I don't really have a reason to choose Waste of Skin if, say, Lone Survivor happens to have allocated the points almost exactly the way I want?

as I edited in to my response, there's basically checkpoints you interact with to refresh your hp and presumably go to home base to level up. if you die you start back at the last one you interacted with. if it's the same as dark souls, which I believe it is, using the checkpoint also respawns all the enemies (although some enemies are exempt from this).

awesome, thank you! One additional question if you don't mind. Say you make a lot of progress but don't hit another lantern. You respawn at your old lantern - do you still have the new items/stats/progress you've made? or is it only kept because of the lanterns

Some questions, I'll spoiler them all just in case:

1.
Is there a respec option, or do you have to make a new character entirely if you eventually want to change your build?

2.
is there a way to change the time of day? I'm guessing all the people behind the doors would be nicer to me if it was daytime?

3.
I gave the little girl her moms red brooch, is there a next step to this? Can I get her to go to the cathedral where its safe or something?

4.
Who else can i get to the safe place, I've only gotten the old lady

5.
I saw some weird void in the place right after the cathedral safe zone thing, it kept popping up after i got some armor (top hat and hunter gear) from a body there. I went into one and it just picked me up and said "frenzy" or something, almost killed me but I had a little health left over, anyone know what is going on there?
@5: Just embrace the void...

Only thing you lose is your blood echoes. That, and you will have to refight all the mobs along the way back to the lantern you missed.

edit: think of it like in the Sonic games where when you get hit, all your rings fly out. That's basically what the mechanic is. You lose all blood echoes, but have one chance to retrieve them.

assuming it's the same as dark souls, again, which I believe it is, here's how it works.. you get souls by killing enemies, and souls can be spent at home base to level up your stats, or used as currency at merchants. if you die, you drop whatever souls you had with you on the ground where you died, and you have to go retrieve them. if you die again before retrieving them, they're lost forever.

Whatever you picked up before you died will still be in your inventory. The only thing you lose is your blood echoes.

In the Souls games, it was pretty common to make a loot run- run into a dangerous area to pick up an item or two, then die and respawn at a bonfire.

You keep all of your new items and stats but enemies respawn and you lose any accumulated blood echoes. To retrieve them, you return to the spot where you died and they'll either be on the ground or inside of a nearby monster. If you die again without retrieving the echoes, they're gone for good.

So has anyone else...
got grabbed by an invisible hand and then taken to some other new area?
that was nuts.

Do you mean at the end of the path thats right from the Cathedral with Vicar Amelia in it? I was grabbed by that giant thing, but I just died. No new area for me :/

Also, do you know where to go next? I'm pretty lost.

So when is the OT going up?

OT's are supposed to go up the day of the release, which is Tuesday. Though, for some, it's late night Monday. Add on top of that, a lot of people are already playing. Not sure when Robot Pants plans on posting the OT, but I hope it's tomorrow alongside the review thread.

Just because people have thrown around the wrong time: @MikeMcWhertor: The Bloodborne review embargo is up on Monday, March 23 at 7 p.m. PT, in case you were wondering.

That's Blood Starved Beast, right? After that I've beaten Vicar A, the Witches and the Palebeast. Now I'm not sure where to go next. There's supposed to be a Woods section I think.

Ah! You're MUCH further than me, lol.

Woods are to the left of the Grand Cathedral if you're looking dead ahead. Opposite side of where those 2 hunters were/are. Follow the cave to the woods.

Oh, sorry! Hope I didn't spoil anything for you. I'm pretty sure those are two optional bosses. I've been to the small woods area left of the cathedral and it leads to one of those (optional) bosses.
Might have missed a branching path there or something, thanks for you're help!

Was aware of all of them, no worries! :) Good luck!

Has anyone found a quintessential strength weapon yet, and has there been discussion about how viable a 2Her with nothing else is in the game? This is my preferred playstyle, but Dark Souls ruined it after it was so great with The Cleaver in Demon's Souls.

so i heard that there is fees for some of the multiplayer aspects (outside of PS+), is this true?

Nope.

RIP 400K ;_;

My God... I couldn't believe it the first time when he actually
managed to kill both bell maidens and the invading (?) spiders and died from one of the werewolves
, let alone just now. Also, must say, from what i'm seeing right now, the dungeons are absolutely incredible value both to play and lore.

I couldn't believe there were actually
