BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

What are the predictions review wise? I'm going for an average of around 9.2 ish

Review copies have been playing with Online enabled since the patch come out on Friday iirc. I think it'll be scored higher than what some people think who have seen streams of the game offline-only mode.

I need to learn how to make gifs better though.

Lmao

And then here in the UK we have to wait until Friday. :|
Seriously, whoever it was that decided the UK needs to wait 3 days extra to get games needs a slap.

Yeah, it's a colossal pain in the arse.

Life is Strange should keep me occupied on Tuesday, and I'm playing through Dark Souls again at the moment, so the wait shouldn't be too hard.

Still, 4 days...ugh

So ugh since Ive had the game for a few days and I just thought of this....

Would I be able to safely shareplay the game with a friend tonight? Would actually be perfect since I completely suck and can't beat a boss lol.

To be honest, it would have been strange if Yoshi DIDN'T have 4 copies of the game. Souls is a way of life for that dude, I wouldn't expect anything less. Can't wait to read his impressions.

This game is a big deal for Playstation. I have a funny feeling some of the more casual players out there might pick this up on hype having not played a Souls game before and spend hours getting their asses handed them

I would even say he is the single living being on earth who truly lives the Souls lifestyle...

Yeah the marketing has been pretty good for it too. I've been seeing commercials on AMC during Better Call Saul for weeks now.

This will be me. I'm not extremely hyped, but the game looks solid. You'll see me logging all of my deaths in the OT.

there was a guy streaming last night who was stuck on the first boss for 3+ hours. the game's going to be humbling for sure.

I asked this before but didn't see any answer. Does anyone know and can spoil good reasons to raise arcane? Right now it feels like its impact would be very little and will just end up being the dump stat of choice.

Are there examples of really good gear that requires a high arcane stat?

edit: Hadn't even seen those optimized stat builds Yoshi just posted but seems like that guy has the same impression of arcane as a dump stat

This is what I'm talking about. Brilliant!

You'll get the hang of it. Dying is part of the fun in these games!

I was, and still am, a relatively casual gamer (usually play to completion roughly 4-6 games per year), but the souls games do something different for me. I see them as a challenge that I have to complete. Plus, the atmosphere, level design, enemy design, etc. are top notch in Souls games which makes them that much more enjoyable.

think i'm going to go straight dex. need that warped twin blade and scythe. is arcane completely useless?
Not useless but rather that no one wants to experiment it quite yet. It wouldn't surprise me if Arcane becomes an absolute beast in PvP when combined with a very specific weapon upgrade + ring.

These things takes time!
There's no more equip burden? So you don't have to take weapon and gear weight into account for movement speed?

Correct.

I am that guy

I knew the game would be "good" due to the hype and the history the developer has. I have never played a previous title due to lack of interest in the premise but I promised myself I would give this a try- the atmosphere and art style were too good for me not too.

I did zero reading and very little video watching on the game but was hyped as all hell...(thanks gaf). I was lucky enough to get the game on the 13th of this month and have been playing it quite a bit. Currently level 42 with 16 or so hours played.

Initially I was confused, frustrated and the thought that "this may not be for me" crossed my mind early on. Now I am hooked, and think about the game constantly and have been reading about it non stop. It is REALLY good and I encourage everyone to try it. But remember, when your thinking about giving up your right on the cusp if the game being great, give it time.

The Axe guy? Yeah multiple times on that stream I heard him and a friend of his that got it early on party chat question why some find the series fun, seems like both were stuck on the first boss lol

It wouldn't surprise me if I got stuck on Cleric Beast for 3+ hours.

I mean, I did spend like 2 hours on Taurus Demon :lol :lol :lol YO DAWG, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR MAD SOULS SKILLS YOSHI

Awesome man. I remember Demons Souls became an obsession for me for a good while. These games are all consuming in an awesome way

So I’ve had the game since about mid-day Saturday and I’ve put just shy of 12 hours and level 40. I just want to say, I’m absolutely in love with this game. It’s dark and gritty, some of the sounds and enemies are just downright creepy. I also have to say, the crows are some of the scariest fucking things in a game ever. I can’t believe they still sometimes scare the shit out of me when I don’t notice them and suddenly one attacks. Seriously, one of the scariest fucking sounds in the game and with headphones on. They are weak and easy but that shit makes me poop every time.

As others have seen on streams and impressions, the combat is very souls like but here it just so much faster paced. I still find myself trying to get certain enemies alone to better micro manage the fights yet I go right into the fights usually. Dodging, rolling away, and learning when to attack and back off. It’s Dark Souls but it’s quicker, faster, and more intense. I adjusted fairly quickly to this and upon getting the first shield in the game, sold it quickly because I don’t have time for that.

The first area of the game is rather massive. I have finally started to get to other areas, two of which I didn’t exactly plan on. One area I had to leave because these enemies were totally wrecking me. I think I’ve fought about 5 bosses and with one I had to bail on because it was destroying me rather quickly.

While I think folks that never liked this genre won’t find much to bring them into the fold. Others will eat this up and with its Victorian setting/style, If it keeps up, will be my favorite out of all the previous titles. I’ve still got a ton more to play, but the cohesiveness of it all and the story bits I’m getting. I’m absolutely enthralled with this game. Can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it come tonight/tomorrow.

Oh god, I've been waiting for that kind of info forever. I love me some numbers and theorycrafting.

For your build recommendations, I would put Arcane at least to 10 since you need that much to use the
messenger transformation. :3
There is also at least one weapon that requires 10 arc, as well as the two flamethrowers needing 8 and 9 respectively.
Really nothing super necessary.

this is the post I needed, thank you. No more equip burden, thank god. I assume a gun / bloodtinge focused build wont work?

Going by that build info I have decided to get some clarification before I continue to level my character.

I want to know all the weapons. All of them.

I was on blackout and discovering them as I go but im at the point were I need to decide if I want all strength, or a balanced build to use almost all the weapons.

Are there videos of all the weapons? so I can see what I want to use and then identify if its a strength or skill based build?

Well this isn't all of them, just all of them found so far. It will be updated constantly as well. Still missing a lot of info like upgraded stats and what not.

That was my initial reaction to Demon's Souls. I picked it up not knowing much/anything about it - just saw a few cool screenshots of bosses on a gaming forum and thought 'I need to try that'.

Spent my first few hours dying over, and over, and over thinking 'why the ?#! did I buy this game'. I had also picked a hard starting class. I don't think I even made it to the 1st short cut in 1-1.

Decided to switch classes (admittedly to Royal - rather OP at the start) - and things started to click, and got hooked on it like crack. I cheezed the hell out of my first play through, but still had a blast.

Love me some obobobo.

Nice, glad to know about the caps. Most likely going with a Skill build but I'll see. Quality build if anything else. Is it not worth it to pump more stats into Bloodtinge?

does no more equip burden mean that everyone and anyone has fast roll? No matter what you wear?

from what I understand rolls are different now. You roll if you are not locked in, but if you are locked in, you do a quick dash to avoid dmg, not a roll. So yeah probably everyone has the same roll / dash

He recommends Overall Quality build instead of a pure strength or skill build because it is effective enough for defeating enemies and you get to use all the weapons. Anyone who has played it can confirm the same? Is it wise to distribute between skill and str equally while leveling or is it better to go pure str or pure skl?

does anyone have the knowledge to start creating a chart as to what weapons are what? being a strength weapon/skill weapon etc?

What boss is recommended to fight next
