BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

Is there any negatives if you play co op? I never looked into it that much..

can you co op any time? or only boss fights?
do you not gain as many echos? or items? possible not gain a trophy for soloing it?

The cost for doing co-op is that you need to use insight to do it. If you have no insight, you can't do co-op. Also, if it's anything like the previous souls games, the boss' defense/health scales with the number of players, so if they die you'll be left with a substantially tougher boss.

Thank god they took out the shitty "mobs stop spawning after you kill them 12 times" mechanic from dark souls 2

finished that game 3 times, it was never an issue, and im far from the best Souls player (I was stupidly overlvled in Dark Souls 1 for example), that was completely overblown imo

It wasn't a huge issue, but it was definitely a completely stupid and pointless mechanic, especially if you wanted to farm for items. There were some weapons that were annoying for me to get because it wouldn't drop before an enemy stopped spawning.

Crap...I thought co op play would make things easier

It was the bad design that having that as a mechanic allowed. Like having any mobs aggro you when you use a fire would have been unacceptable if you couldn't make them despawn. Same with having the exploders near an important npc.

ah yes, you are correct when it affected farming for items

For those who have played the game... can I change so that I don't jump with O (hold in) +O, but instead jump with L3 like in DkS2?

They fixed a lot of the farming/despawn issues in DS2, eventually. Infinite spawns as part of the Champions Covenant, a lot of the rare drops like Durgo's Hat and the Catarina set are all regular loot in the DLC.

Well, of course, the benefit to doing co-op is that you have other players to distract the boss for you, so if you get caught in a pinch and need to heal one of the other players can draw the bosses attention to give you a breather.

Welp, time to go to bed. See you guys again when the game is already live and I still have to wait a day for me to get my copy in the mail and sleep again. Hopefully we will have an OT and review thread by the time I wake up this time at least...

Regarding
cathedral
area:

1.
Is there a boss in this area?

2.
Ive beaten cleric and gascoigne so far, or is that poison beast the third boss?

I have about 16 insight after playing about 6 hours, plus there is an item you can buy that gives you insight. Those items also drop in the world, and I have about 20 of them.

I doubt you'll have a problem.

What is the use of "marking areas"? I dropped one, and it just disappeared...

Stones were used to toss overledges. If they screamed then you would die from the fall.

You use them to basically see if you can survive the drop. Also used for help backtracking

Has there been any good cane footage out there recently? Everything I see is of people using the saw blade. I normally roll dex (skill) characters in soul's games and would like to see how effective it is early game.

bahah i think i was kicked out from PSN cuz of streaming :P

anyway game plays very smooth and controls are quite responsive, i liked the new faster approach so far but probably due to all those details and architecture it needs more AA cuz everything loos kinda jaggy.

also can't login to servers it says they will open it 24th

Since the "OT" is up, will this RIP in Peace now :(?

Third boss is driving me nuts.
I can handle it until it starts the poison BS.

I miss my magic. :(

So what is the
Uncanny Chikage
?? I hope it doesn't
drain health

Apparently it's just a Chikage with different Blood Gem attachment capabilities but I would love it if it was more of a variation than that. I really want a katana without the ugly blood coating and HP drain gimmick.

time for the OT thread. Imagine the insanity that will happen there....if the hype levels were critical in a SPOILER thread where 99% of people would avoid prior to a release like this.

Different
blood gem imprints. If you check out the waning blood gems, there seems to be one for HP regen.
I think my first build is going to be bloodtinge so I can check this out, but I would like to see a vid of the move set for this weapon.
