Bloomberg: iPad 3 in March with retina display, quad core chip

I'm debating as well. The iPad 2 has been my main computer when not at work and I use it daily.

Questions: About how much could I look to get for an iPad 2 selling it?
Do you just do a factory reset when you sell to wipe all data?
My iPad is engraved, is there a way to remove that/does that matter?

eBay has them for $400. But then you have fees and such. Engraving seems to really hurt the value of the device. I had offers for $400 on my basic, 16GB black model but then when I told them about the engraving they said nevermind.

Trying to debate when I should sell my iPad 2. Sooner the better, methinks.

So hyped. This thing is potentially less than a month away from a full reveal.

PLEASE retina display. That's all I want. Will they be able to maintain entry-level price with a 2048 x 1536 display, potentially lit by 2 light bars?

edit: how do those sites compare to Gazelle? Trustworthy? Might go that route this year, after having terrible craigslist experiences the past two years.

No no no no.

Here: http://nextworth.com/

Best site. Super fast and the best price. Have used it before and only had positive experiences. Even has an option to get a Target giftcard and drop if off in the store if you want.

Actually, seems pretty legit. Articles from CNN, etc and working with Target.

I have been meaning to offload a bunch of DVDs too, might do it all at once.

I'd be upgrading from an iPad 1, but would like to keep the old device around. Question is, what do I do with it? Cool cook book? Media control device? Leave it in the iCade on a pub table for guests?

I'll use my OG iPad as XBMC remote for my HTPC. XBMC Commander is really good for that, worth every penny.

Wow, so the iPad3 could launch within a month after the Vita?
Brutal.

Waiting for the iPad 3 announcement so badly. Wanted to get a Galaxy Tab but with a new generation of tablets right around the corner, that would be pretty dumb. Retina display + quad-core = instabuy.

So iPad 3:

- Retina Display
- Dual Core A6 (faster, but not quad-core)
- Slightly thicker
- Better battery
- Better back camera
- Same pricepoints

...you in?

Would give my Ipad 2 to my mother and buy an IPad 3 if it had a quad core A9 instead of and dual core A6.

Depends on how reliant you are on it, tbh. I would wait for the news of an Apple event, which they usually announce a week or two prior to the actual event, right?

RIGHT when I see the official invitations go out, i'd throw it up on craigslist. You could probably put it on craiglist two hours after the actual event and you'd still make money, people are clueless tbh.

Quad core is definitely not a sure thing. I think dual core is more likely. Especially if LTE is in.

I don't understand those hanging on RAM specs. Whatever it is, you can pretty much guarantee it'll be the fastest and smoothest user experience out there. We never find out until a post-release teardown anyway. 1gb does seem likely if it will be supporting high-res assets though.

The moment the invites go out you have a week MAX. They typically go out the week before, so the window is super tight.

Grrr :(

Personally I have a netbook and Chromebook (test unit) at home to use. So even though I use my ipad 2 daily I could get around it for a month or so.

I've done this with a couple of idevices. Last year I made a sweet sale on my iPad the day of the event invitations. It's so good it feels bad. I still dread those few weeks without an iPad. First world problems.

Well it isn't hard to stay on top of news and know right when the invitation goes out, and then have a craigslist posting all ready to publish. Right when you find out, just throw it up; easy.

Must feel like shit after the sale, though. Just looking that person in the eyes "congratulations". :|

Been waiting for everything that is rumored to appear on the iPad 3 before buying one. Now is the time Apple, please make it happen!

For people wondering when to sell, I've sold all my Apple products once the announcement for the event comes out at full price.

A lot of people on craigslist/Ebay only know when the device gets announced officially, not when the invite comes out.

That's why.

They all look the same.

I'm selling my iPad 2 to family this year, so I don't need to stress about value or when to sell it, thankfully. I sold my iPad 2 weeks early last year and it sucked. I needs my precious!

iPad 1 was severly limited, Apple had no idea where it would go or how big it would get. iPad 2 will hold up in a year a lot better than 1 did.

Uh What? the A6 chip has nothing to do with the A9 aspect. The A5 chipset on iPad 2 is A9

iPad 6 will be A6 and likely be either a quad-A9 or a dual-A15.

Being iPad-less for an extended period of time would really blow... BAH

Huh, that is very strange. I can juggle a ton of tabs on iPad 2 without a hitch. I usually have about 6 open at a time.

That's brutal as hell.

It's not exactly an industry secret that Apple would likely be releasing the next refresh of the iPad sometime in late Q1, early Q2, though.

Sony's Vita failed before they ever showed it to the public...because it's a standalone mobile gaming device. Dead on arrival.

Sony seems to be in very rough shape, I wonder why it has taken them so long to re-figure out what the hell is going on man lol.. These giant tv companies needed restructuring a while ago.

I sure as shit hope so. I've come close to throwing my iPad against the wall because I can barely do anything on it anymore that doesn't make it crash.

My Apple enthusiasm has totally killed my Sony enthusiasm.

I tried to get excited for Vita but I just can't.

I'm actually more excited about Marc Ambinder's iBook releasing in a couple of weeks than any console-like approximation soon-to-be released on PlayStation Vita. I have higher hopes for rich media/interactive comics than any next-gen handheld game. Infinity Blade 2 is the sum of gaming experience now and I feel completely satisfied.

I was confused when I wrote the CPU:s, so yeah quad-A9 or dual-A15

Close the porn tabs: problem solved.
Why? People told me the iPad is a computer and I can watch porn all I want on my computer, why does it have to be different on the iPad? It's like saying I need a truck to drive to the next strip club. That doesn't make any sense.

Roughly 1400P, but from the article it sounds like the iPad3 will be above 720P and below 1080P. If true, it would actually be slightly lower res than a few other competing tablets coming out this year making the phrase "retina display" kind of useless for Apple.

Wha? That isn't true at all from everything we have heard.

That was according to the article from bloomberg a few weeks ago. It said that the ipad 3 will have a higher resolution than some HDTVs, suggesting below 1080p.

Right now, I think doubling they're going to either double the horizontal and vertical resolution of the iPad or of the iphone 4. So maybe 1920X1280 or 2048X1540.

I'm pretty sure that's a less than most users, I usually use about double the number of tabs on any device.
