Prediction: People here will freak out after the event because Apple won't say how much RAM it has. ;)

It happens after ever Apple event. Apple never tells what the RAM is. You have to wait for it to come out and then someone to tear it down to find that out.

My god this thing is incredible! It's the best iPad ever! Look how smooth those transitions are! Look how insane that game looked! DAY 1!

*iFixit Teardown reveals it's still 512Mb of RAM*

"FUCKING APPLE FUCK THOSE FUCKERS!"

What would be utterly hilarious is if Apple pulled some magic out the hat and was able to engineer the iPad 3 to work flawlessly with 256MB of RAM. Just to see the meltdowns would be awesome.

Actually, I just want 1GB and call it a day.

I'd be shocked if this isn't how the Wi-Fi lineup looks (not sure the current 3G prices off the top of my head and too lazy to look it up)

iPad 2 16 GB - $399
iPad 3 16 GB - $499
iPad 3 32 GB - $599
iPad 3 64 GB - $699

You are Captain Obvious, aren't you?

It's entirely possible to browse one website on the OG iPad or to run one app really smooth. It gets shitty when you try to do more than one thing.

Is the 3g/4G model worth it?

Totally depends on your use case. I use mine at work and don't have access to wifi, so it's worth it for me.

I have wifi pretty much everywhere I go so 3G is something I just don't need. So yeah...just look at what you would need it for and go from there. If you just want it to have it but with very little day-to-day need for it...not sure if it's worth it in that case.

Put my OG iPad up on amazon. Chances are I'll be going for the 16gb version of the new one. Not sure about 3g yet. I probably would spring for it if it was only like 50 bucks more. For something I won't be using all the time 130 is a lot.

Thanks. and Can I attach a 3G/4G iPad to my AT&T unlimited Data account or do i get another plan

First of all, we don't know it will have 4G yet.

Second, yes, it's a separate plan. Month to month, no contract. You sign up on the iPad itself with a credit card. Painless process, painful rates.

in that case, expect 768MB of ram. lol.

Apple puts in just enough for you to feel great for a year...then make you want to buy another in 12-18 months.

Though really, the only time I've run into memory issues (256MB) on my iPad 1 was with web browsing with multiple tabs. for everything else, it's been just about flawless.

iPad 3 event is March 7, confirmed by Jim D.

Just got £232 ($366) for my OG 16Gb WiFi model on eBay. I was quite impressed seeing as it's boxless and has a ding in the corner. I am prepared.

alright i guess i can whore my ipad 2 out on craig's list or just buy the ipad 3 and have two ipads to fucking multitask.

So which shitty generic suburb do you live in?

i live in Delaware, we have a craigslist board for the Entire State.

Craiglist 101: never meet alone, never meet in a non-crowded place, never meet at their home.

Yet this is coming from me... I went into a mans home to buy a slim PS3, and sold a phat PS3 in a park in the morning all alone. But it all worked out in the end. (Houston, TX, btw)

Craigslist 101. second class: any person offering more money than what you are asking is a scammer (this might seem obvious but I’ve had friends ask me about this several times). Any person nickel and diming you for every cent and being a bit of a jackass about it is legit.

side note. My ipad is now up for sale on craigslist. I’m hoping I’ll have it sold by the end of the week. fingers crossed.

March 7th sounds good. I'll be at work so I should be able to see the a liveblog/stream.

Does Amazon usually have them up for preorder when they are announced? It'll probably be easiest for me to do it that way and not have to pay tax.

I'm considering buying an iPad 3. I never owned a tablet before and I have a 4S. Is Te iPad really just an iPhone with a bigger screen? Obviously minus the phone part. I don't see any major need for getting an iPad but I'm a sucker for new tech. Can someone who has both an iPhone and iPad tell me an honest opinion. Is the iPad something I could use taking notes in class or typing up essays on? Can you get a good pace going on the keyboard? I have an iMac and sometimes regret selling my MacBook pro for those times when I want to just lay in bed and type up school work rather than sitting at my desk on my iMac.

Nothing compares to the good old laptop for document creation on the go. IPad is fundamentally different from iPhone, but it is still mainly a consumption device. The selection of content creation apps is growing, but you can't beat a laptop for mobile productivity quite yet.

Going to try and sell my 32gb iPad 2 for $520. No way I can miss out on even one day of iPad 3 use. Excited to see what new apps they off with the tech.

Is the iPad worth it if I don't need the portability factor?

I'm looking at it as coffee table computing. For portability I have my iPhone. For proper productivity anywhere I have a notebook. For hanging out on my couch I am getting an iPad.

I know this is kinda off-topic but ey need to work on their damn iBooks.

Reading A Storm of Swords and the book cover and maps aren't proportionate to the page (or anything).

Take some pride in your work, FFS.

Have an iPad 1 16gb wifi at the moment, and in the market for a new tablet. It's either gonna be an iPad 3 or asus TF (the one announced with hd screen).

One thing I'm wondering is how good an iPad 3 would be to connect to a beamer so I can use it for presentations. Anyone have any experience using an iPad for a presentation? How is the vga cable?
