OnlyFans is getting out of the pornography business.

The company will prohibit users from posting any sexually explicit conduct, starting in October. Creators will still be allowed to post nude photos and videos, provided they're consistent with OnlyFans' policy, the company said Thursday.

The changes are needed because of mounting pressure from banking partners and payment providers, according to the company.

"In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of our platform, and the continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines," OnlyFans said.

OnlyFans has attracted more than 130 million users by giving online creators a platform to charge their fans for photos and videos. Many of its most-popular creators post nude photos and videos, and it has been praised for giving sex workers a safer place to do their jobs.

But sex work still has a stigma. And OnlyFans is trying to raise money from outside investors at a valuation of more than $1 billion. The company handled more than $2 billion in sales last year, and is on pace to more than double that this year. It keeps 20% of that figure.

Send me simps bucks if old.

I have never been on there but my understanding was that OF was primarily a porn platform and them banning porn would be analogous to pornhub banning porn. Is there any other use case for that site other than this?

This is funny.

But another platform will spring up somewhere.

Step 1) Build business based on porn.
Step 2) Become popular because of that.
Step 3) Ban porn.
Step 4) ???
Step 5) Slowly die off while trying to stay relevant as the MAJORITY of the user base goes else where.

The Tumblr model. Bought for $1.1 billion in 2013, banned porn in 2018, sold for less than $3 million in 2019.

hahahaha.... hahahahaa..... like I want to know what happened in that board meeting. Surely someone was like "you know if we do this we're all losing our jobs in 6 months.... right?"

I commend them for knowing this and standing by principle.... (after they likely have already been made rich from their exploits sense launch..)

I guess you can expect a lot of Pornstars that have gone Onlyfans only to return to the usual channels, and probably expect a flood of new pornstars as well.

They've made their multiple millions thanks to Sex Workers, they know it's a sinking ship once they ban porn but hey ho, onto the next platform.

So those girls who recently got into it within the last year and have now got porn videos all over the Internet .. will need to go find a normal job with normal income but still have their pics/vids all over the Internet.

... I foresee some serious mental health/suicide stories cropping up over the next few years.

Porn is still allowed tho?

Creators will still be allowed to post nude photos and videos

They're probably just saying no fucking. If I had to guess, at least half the explicit content on Onlyfans is softcore already anyway.

As for alternatives, there's already sites like LoyalFans and FanCentro. Thats not an issue.

Weird move.
Kinda have to wonder, why do payment providers even care? If I'm offering a payment service and I get a small cut from every transaction, the hell do I care what is being bought? (as long as it is legal)

I imagine they are making a distinction between softcore pics of girls just posing nude vs sex, masturbation, blowjobs, etc.
