My car has no AUX in or blutooth. I tried different FM transmitters a couple of years ago and all of them had terrible sound. I wasn't happy till somebody recommended the flexsmart x2 to me. This Bluetooth FM transmitter worked very well. But it died today and isn't transmitting the FM signal anymore (for whatever reason).

I should obviously just get a new flexsmart transmitter, but there are now like 5-6 different ones out there all around 60€. Are the higher models better? And are there meanwhile other companies making useable stuff without terrible noise/sound?

Honestly, don't go anywhere near €60.

The one posted above on Amazon I've used and can vouch for.

Also I got another model from eBay for about £10 and that equally was fine sound wise and ease to use. Cant remember the name of that one unfortunately

Cool, thx. Ordered via Amazon, will give it a try. Do you guys think it would work in combination with a QI smartphone mount (just for the comfort of not having to plug in/out a usb cable into my phone every time I enter/leave the car)?

Even the cheapest after-market car stereos (£20-£50) offer AUX and Bluetooth. Obviously, it takes a couple of hours to install them, but they're much better than using an FM transmitter.

I can't see why it wouldn't, it'll provide power when you turn the car on (or before that even?). Mine's stashed in the glove box when I'm not using it, though.

True, but this is only any good if you can actually change the stereo, swapping mine out would have been a proper bit of work.
