Sweetness! The upcoming TARGET stores monthly catalog "GATHER AROUND" December issue reveals a $99.99 price-tag for the Nintendo DS system. You can observe the caption thru this link (scroll to pg.56 and click on the child with the blue DS) :

Hopefully, this won't just be a Target markdown exclusive or ad mis-print.

Sign me up if true. Fuck, I'd easily buy one for $100 just to play Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center. The only DS games I truly care about...

Ya gotta be kidding me. -_-;

Even though the blue sucks for $99 I'd buy it rather than having half of my present budget going to importing the candy pink one. *wonders if its to late to cancel the order*

It seems too low to be true (error maybe?) but wow if it is

$50 price drop in 13 months, it'll be locked at that price for quite along time if it's nationwide.

It says "electric blue or titanium."

Ya I know that! (Titanium is so horridly ugly that I never even once thought of buying it so I didn't bother to mention it.)

I hope its not real cause I really want my (real)pink. Wonder what lik-sangs policy on returns is. >_<

Remember this?
I wonder if this may happen soon.

I don't remember seeing that. :lol

But that price would absolutely be insane for Japan. Barely more expensive than the SP.

Not a friendly returns policy. -_-; I dunno wether to cancel the order (if I even still can at this point) or to just get it. C'mon this is super GAF and even though its the middle of the night can't anyone tell if this is for reals or not?

1. this is the december catalog, it isn't december yet
2. in-store only
3. target's return policy is something like 90 days, refund if unopened
4. misprint? who knows

I was talking about my just ordered less then 12 hours ago Candy Pink DS from Lik-Sang ;_; "Order Processing" well that about wraps it up for me unless Target misprinted. Every single time I've purchased a system this generation (save for the GBA / SP) I've gotten severely boned by there being a pricedrop/better bundle less than 3-4 months afterwards ;_;

Wait, did Nintendo tell Target to drop the price or is Target doing it on their own will?

This has to be a misprint. Has there ever been a system price drop after the start of the holiday shopping season? Seems like there would be a lot of angry customers doing returns to get the difference back.

Hmm...

I just purchased a -used- DS for $99 for my younger brother.

If this is confirmed, I'd best sell it on eBay quickly.

I agree. Considering the $150 Mario Kart DS bundle won't even be released until Nov. 28th, there's no way Target is going to just drop the price by 30 bucks--which would put it at the same price as the GB Micro, no less--next month.

lol..

it is a misprint. and this isn't just an educated guess.. it's because they are trying to fix it. currently the ad for me says the DS is 9.99......... LOL!!!

I'd buy THAT for $10.

You sure you didn't look at the carrying case?

Even if it is a misprint, if you get your hands on that article and bring it in, they have to honor it.

and welcome to one of the oldest shopping myths.

they don't HAVE TO honor anything. They can choose to or not at their discretion. If the 99.99 is a misprint, my guess is they MIGHT honor it to save face, though they also might make you buy a couple of games with it to honor it.

You can bitch till you get it. Seller beware.

I previously had worked at both Funcoland/GameStop and Toys R Us, and it was company policy to take any ad that wasn't expired. All misprints or mispostings in-store had to be honored. I'd say go for it.

on the other side of that coin is the infamous 99 cent hard drive at best buy, where best buy flat out refused to honor the ad for anyone. YMMV.

Candy Pink DS > *

Once you have it in your hands and admire its beauty, and everyone around you comments about it, you wouldn't even hesitate to buy another at 15,000 yen.

My first thought was that this is insane.
My second thought was that I got my Nintendo DS with Mario 64 and a free carrying case from Target for $129.99 back in June, so technically this deal's not actually better [edit: for those who would have bought M64 anyway]--it just looks like it to the non-discerning consumer, which I suppose is the whole point.

The DS was still $150 back in June so that bundle was more like a prelude to a pricedrop. There's bundles aplenty lately at the $150 mark these days so who knows if it really means a pricedrop is on the way. The first bundle took the price down. These latest ones bring it up so~~
