bomba Nintendo DS = $99 @ Target (December?)

I hope, hope, hope this is true. I've been trying to decide between a PSP and a DS recently and finally picked the DS, but all of the used ones I've seen are really scratched. This would be perfect for me.

Today is the supposed start date of the Target sales catalog, which erroneously (yet delectably) listed the Nintendo DS price at $99. Many of you have given us stories about Target both honoring and distancing itself from the price (one reader even got Circuit City to match the price - rock on!). Pixelantes Anonymous e-mailed Target Guest Relations for the official word. In their reply, it claims Target will honor the advertised price ($99), but cautions that the catalog’s prices are effective only until December 12th.

So there you have it; if you want a cheap Nintendo DS, now is the perfect time to pick it up (thank you, Gods of typographical errors who usually scorn us). The letter says to bring a copy of the catalog (you should be able to use a screen capture of the online catalog - just go here and type in “DS” in the left-most search box) and remember to call (800) 440-0680 if the Target managers need any further verification. Enjoy!

Here is the original letter:

Thanks for your e-mail about The Nintenedo Dual Screen in the 2005 Holiday Catalog. The ad is a misprint, as the price in the system should be $129.99. However, Target is honoring the ad price of $99.99 if you are able to bring in a copy of the catalog. If you have any trouble at the store, have them call us at (800) 440-0680 and we will be able to assist you then. Keep in mind the catalog price expires on December 12th, 2005.
We always welcome your questions, so if we can assist you in the future, please contact our Target Guest Relations team at (800) 440-0680. You can also speak with a team member at the Guest Services Desk at your local Target store, or visit us on Target.com. Either way, we’re here to help!
Thanks for shopping with us. I hope we’ll see you again soon at Target.

Bah, now I have to decide whether to keep my preordered Mario Kart bundle, or get a blue DS and Mario Kart for $128 plus tax at Target instead. I really want a red DS, but I don't know if it's worth the extra money. :(

WORTH NOTING:

The kid's expression on the 360 add. Not the one holding the controller above his friend, the kid who's expression almost PERFECTLY dictates "Xbox 1.5" Holy shit M$ is gonna sue somebody lol :lol :lol :lol

if it makes you nintendo fans dfeel better, a used DS at gamestop went from 99 to 109 not too long ago.

Hold on - you have to bring the catalog to the store and show it to them in order to get the DS for $100? Someone explain this to me in baby steps.

so I went to three Targets here and all of them were "sold out" of the DS. I use quotes because I took one of the price tags from the shelf and scanned it; it said there were several in the back. Apparently some stores have been instructed to take all of the product off the shelves until the ad passes so that they won't lose money.

Damn, so this hasn't worked for anyone yet? I'm gonna try this with my mother. I don't think they want an angry black lady in their store for too long. :D

Its up to $129 now.
Of course they've fixed the webpage, but if you have a copy of the old ad, they have to accept it... at least that's what that letter from the company indicates...

Those Slimey bastards. I'm gonna call my Target everyday until they cough up the goods.

I just bought 3 Electric Blue DSes from Target. I showed them a print out of the typo on the online catalog. I also showed them the Joystick article where they contact Target Guest Relations and they get their official statement. The official statement said that they will honor the $99.99 dollar price and if any Target employee needs any clarification that they could call them at a 800 number.

The manager took my papers so she could verify with Target Guest Relations. I played the 360 kiosk till she came back. I walked out the store 20 minutes later with 3 of them. One for my little bro and 2 for some friends who were on the fence about getting one.

That is correct bring a print out of the ad and every Target store has to honor it, but only if you bring the catalog print out. Target pays under 100 bucks for the ds so there is no loss there lol.

People are using this to get the Nintendogs Bundles for 99 bucks as well. So just a heads up to you fuckers. GIVE ME A PINK ONE =P

Some guy was at the target i was at. And he was waiting around. Asked him what he was gonna get. Store clerk comes back says that they were 99 bucks cause of the price error and they will honor it. Next thing i know the guy buys every last one they had. In total he bought 30 ds's

Does anyone have a screen cap of the online catalog's price? I took in a printed copy of the scan today and they wouldn't honor it.

Jesus Christ....

Can't wait for the November NPD numbers now!!! :lol :lol :lol

It works with the Nintendogs bundle too?! $99 for a DS and a game?! I have to go tomorrow or this weekend.

edit: Shouldn't this also work with the Mario Kart bundle?

I went with my roommate and my brother to Target last night with the ad, and both of them walked out with blue DSes for 99 bucks.

The only thing I got was Gunstar Super Heroes, which was on clearance for $20. Great little game so far; the melee combat adds a lot to the game, although I don't think the gun system is quite as engaging as the original.

Sweet, it worked for me too. No hassle at all. They just took the ad from me to go confirm it. My friend and I both got blue DS's and I got a silver one for my little cousin. I would've tried to get the bundles, but they didn't have any. :(

Well I always said that if I could find a DS for $100 I'd buy one. I took the add to Target and got a titanium one. No questions asked.

This has to be a misprint. Has there ever been a system price drop after the start of the holiday shopping season? Seems like there would be a lot of angry customers doing returns to get the difference back.

Meijer was selling the Gamecube for $99 for about a week or two during the holidays when the MSRP was still $149.
