Borderlands 2 - PC Performance Thread

Anyone have the default mip draw numbers. Setting for 0 seemed to cause issues. Just want to reduce the value not set them at 0.

MipFadeInSpeed0=0.3
MipFadeOutSpeed0=0.1
MipFadeInSpeed1=2.0
MipFadeOutSpeed1=1.0

Disable SLI and use one 680 for Phsyx. You will much more consistent performance.

Thanks now my fps are more stable.

What Smokey said, you don't need double GTX680s to play in 1080p and its most likely Physx that tanks the frame rate. Or bad SLI support.

Noticed that the usage of the GPU's drop below 50% when the game shows a lot on screen and ofc this drops the fps, when I'm in a small corridor the usage go up tp 70% and gain lots of fps. I have the same problem with Guild Wars 2.

Crysis 2, Dota 2 and others have a GPU usage up 80% and I get steady 110-120 fps.

Probably hitting the limits of your CPU at those times.

Thead derail but he might not spawn at all right? Or is there a bug on the PC where he never shows up?

He has a really low drop rate. Took me until level 26 to find him.

running on a stock Q6600 and a 560ti at 1920x1200, everything maxed (including physx), I'm getting a very playable 35-45 fps with slowdowns when looking at a huge open distance or with a lot of enemies/explosions

I noticed that with gw2 as well. probably just bad sli support right now.

God dammit, physx on High is so much better than on Medium ;\, but drops my fps even to 35 in combat heavy situations in coop. I want now better gpu badly ;\

Thanks. Yeah, stupid mistake on my part. I am out of practice with PC tweaking.

no crashes here

I've gone through a 1 full re-download and 2 times I had to re verify game cache in which it found a file error ("1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired") and re-downloaded. At one point in time it wouldn't even play because it would crash at start up or go to a blank screen and just plain freeze during gameplay. I have since updated my drivers but I still get game crashes.

Don't get me wrong when it does play it is a damn fun game to play and one of my favs for this year.

I'll be able to test Borderlands 2 on my rMBP if anyone is interested too. I haven't seen any benchmarks of BL2 running on it.

I'll be mostly playing it outputted to a tv at my friends house but I can also check it out at its native resolution.

Anyone playing this on a laptop on a lower graphics card like ati mobility 5650?

Also on that card (alongside a Core i5, so your mileage may vary if your CPU is weaker), and similar results: native res, full screen, only things turned down is the "advanced" features (PhysX, Ambient Occlusion etc.), getting a decent frame rate. It looks like its one of those games where it's a piece of piss to run.

So, I used my gold key and got 2 crappy weapons. I mean... the ones from the Sanctuary chest are purple, so they aren't the best you can get.

I have crossfired 6870, i5-3570K, 16gb of ram and PhysX on high doesn't seem to be dropping my frame rate any.

I don't believe you at all.

I have crossfired 6950s, i5-3570k, 12gb RAM and when PhysX is on high i get like.. 15-20fps in certain situations.

Have you been in a 4 player game at higher levels?

Not sure what's going on now... getting a BSOD when ever playing this for for extended periods of time. Temps are completely normal. I haven't made any changes or other install my new CPU cooler (which is working great).

Can anyone comment on how well the GTX 460 performs if PhysX is set to High?

Runs smooth on my setup.
i7 2600
6950 CF
Max settings, no Physx
Windows 8 x64
120 fps cutoff, no Vsync
Texture popup and AA mods in this thread

Seems to be some minor AMD frame stutter and tearing, but otherwise the framerate is pretty damn high.

I don't know why everyone is worried so much about The Golden Chest stuff. I assume there's nothing in there you can't get elsewhere. It's just one extra loot chest.

Hell I opened the chest not realizing what it was and got two of the exact same grenade mods! What the hell is the chance I that?! Plus is arguably worse the. My orange mod I have equipped.
